Morning, just thought I’d pass on the info I’ve read.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed Liverpool are looking at midfielders and will sign one if an opportunity on the market is available. He specifically mentioned Matheus Nunes (although Ed002 has previously stated no interest) .

He also stated however that he’s not sure how much LFC would be willing to invest in a new midfielder, so whether we would be willing to part ways with a significant amount for a mid remains to be seen.

Klopp did say we wouldn’t panic in response to the Thiago injury so I would assume any signing would be a long term target (not a stop gap) .

Any info from the Eds?

{Ed002's Note - In what respect?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Just in respect to whether the situation surrounding signing a midfielder has changed.

Liverpool’s stance was ‘no incomings’ and now, judging from local journalists etc, that may have shifted.

Thiago’s injury is seemingly only a few weeks so it seems bizarre that the stance would change so drastically.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any change and Liverpool has plenty of cover.}

Plenty of cover with more injury prone players.

Ed0002 you said early on in the window we would look to sign a midfielder obviously things change. Do you think Klopp did not want one without sales or more the owners not wanting to spend anymore more this window.
Cheers Ed.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has said he doesn't need one. If there had been a sale that may well have been different.}

Let's face it no matter how good Thiago is he only lasts for at most 6 games and he picks up an injury. We do not have anyone to cover for his quality. I think it's a massive mistake to wait until next year to improve the midfield oldies.

So Romano is covering all bases. Great insight there. He has good contacts and maximises their use. He rarely breaks news early or gets scoops. Simply put he is not even a poor man's Ed002. Good on you to help him get more money though.

Fabrizio the tap in merchant. Typed out a tweet full of words but actually said nothing.

Cheer up Rambo mate, the sun is shining outside. No need to be bitter about a successful journalist lol (you’re not a bluenose in disguise are you? ) ?.

I think the required midfield enforcement has been looking us in the face all summer! Frenkie de jong!
Top quality, young and available. Barcelona getting desperate to register new player and the cherry on top is it would destroy Manchester Utd if we picked him up. Get it done Liverpool!

08 Aug 2022 17:36:33
Gonna need 4/ 5 mids next season Keita ox milly be gone hendo Thiago hitting 32/ 33! Leaves jone carvalho and Elliot.

08 Aug 2022 18:05:41
Sangare has signed a new contract, so it won't be him, but i am of the belief that with the injury prone, under performing MF's, plus Milner and Ox who are both likely gone next summer, we would be best served bedding in a new face now .

This stat is slightly worrying
[Joel Rabinowitz] "Liverpool have gone 1-0 down in seven of their last nine games in all competitions now (and in each of their last five league games) . On four of those occasions they've conceded the opening goal within the first 15 minutes. Starting slow is becoming a habit that needs breaking. "

Not bitter at all. Romano merely aggregates news from multiple sources. In this case its nonsense that don't provide any value. Ed002 has told us for ages we have looked at and scouted various CMs last season. Doesn't mean we'll sign 1 this window. let's just say I don't go monkey mad on anything Romano says.

Oh my God, has anybody told the club that Millie, Ox and Naby’s contracts are up? Has anybody told them that Hendo and Thiago will be 32 and that they are getting way too 9th? I know that the club don’t like planning but surely they realise that they can rely on the expertise of any number of fans only too willing to help, some of whom (just like me) can even count to 32.

Of course one of the benefits we helpers can provide to the club is to repeat 5he same stuff every day just in case the club forgets.

Jay Dub, this is probably going to make you go apoplectic with rage, but apparently the club are close to renewing Keita’s contract as they think it’s a better (cheaper) option than finding a new midfielder. Personally I think giving him a new contract makes no logic sense as he’s never really performed well consistently and is injury prone, but there you go. Ox won’t be replaced and I don’t think they’ll replace Milner either. Can’t see us stumping up £120m and £350k a week in wages for Bellingham either. So there’s going to be a lot of disappointed folk around here.

08 Aug 2022 20:59:38
I’ve heard from someone who told me about the Nunez deal and Morton loan before the occurred that it’s unlikely we bring in a midfielder; but, if we were to bring one in, the ones of particular interest are Nunes and Sucic. Take it with a pinch of salt.

08 Aug 2022 21:04:07
You mean there'll be a lot more disappointed folk on here. It's clear many are already disappointed right now that we've thrown the Premiership away after one game.

08 Aug 2022 22:16:39
Spaceman stop spreading the negativity buddy. One game and our midfielders are underperforming. Really?

{Ed025's Note - overreaction much Gandalf mate..

09 Aug 2022 01:13:18
Drawing against Fulham wasn’t a great start though was it Flash? City would have pumped them for four or five. We somehow contrived to make the Fulham midfield look world class and if City get out the blocks quickly, we’re not catching them if we have a few more performances like that, which is not entirely out of the question when you look at last season. You simply can’t afford to make mistakes when you’re up against a team with infinite resources. The way City easily and fault casually dispatched a decent West Ham side was not a good sign for the rest. I think we’re already playing for second place and it’s only one game in.

09 Aug 2022 07:42:45
Playing for 2nd place with 37 games to go?
When you say we can't afford to make mistakes, does that mean win every single game? And if we don't, then go foaming at the mouth?
The unwarranted hysteria is comical.

09 Aug 2022 07:49:16
6 times I can’t imagine us splashing on Jude either especially when we are going to need 4/ 5 mids.

09 Aug 2022 09:58:31
Posters who say that the Fulham game doesn't matter are the same ones that probably think last seasons draws and defeats didn't result in us coming 2nd and that it doesn't matter that we lost the CL final because we were the better team.
