Word on the street is that Slot wants to keep VDB and rates him highly. I’d not be surprised if he stayed and we didn’t sign a defender. I’d also be completely fine by that as VDB has earned a chance.

I think he’ll listen to Arne, Slot is a bit of a club legend at Zwolle, where Sepp started, so I’d be minded to think he’ll listen, but also people can change their minds and also say things in the heat of the moment which they later regret, everyone is on a blank slate.

Slot has the benefit of lowered expectations / transition / new MO for the forseeable, and Sepp has nothing to loose being around the first team of european giant for a season-A win/ win situation.

Slot doesn’t have lower expectations if he can’t compete in the league and champions league then bring someone in who can. We’re not some team that needs rebuilding we’re ready to compete this season.
