Evening eds when you talk about liverpools priorities. What possition is seen as the main priority as a fan it looks like it's dm or cb I'm just curious if this priority approach is something they will stick too or if they would change their approach if the right player were available.

{Ed002's Note - The absolute priority is to figure out what the plans are for key players (Salah, va Dijk and Alexander Arnold) and to address the CB situation. Right now Liverpool are putting in a lot of leg work regarding players but do not seem to be able to focus on clear targets and move for them - as has been seen by the flip-flopping between different CB targets.}

Agree0 Disagree3

It seems odd that Fallows, Hunter and Spearman are still a core part of the recruitment and analytics setup, yet we are dithering on targets. Even worse, these are for positions we attempted to fill last summer, so there's been plenty of time to prepare.

Ed002 what are your thoughts as to the reason why Liverpool are flip flopping and seeming so indecisive?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know. It seems a strange approach, but I do appreciate some targets were inherrited from Klopp but Hunter and Fallows are still at the club. Slot will have ideas and no doubt Hughes will.}

So maybe a hint of too many cooks potentially then? Becomes a little more concerning as 3 key players contracts expire and the indecisive nature of finding the missing pieces as well as potential replacements to our 3 most key players.
This could turn into a real problem.
What would you do if in charge re contract, try to sell them now or let them run down?

I understand though a lot of this could now be outside the clubs hands as the draw of the earning capability when free agents for two players who are potentially signing their last contract in van dijk abd salah and then Trent with the reported opportunity to join the best team in the world who maybe wouldn't look aT him if there was a 60-100 million transfer fee aswell.

Ed 2, do you think it could be related to the contract situations as to why liverpool are flip flopping, going by the talk in the press liverpool was waiting to see what would develop with yorro in term of Madrid sounding like they would bid if it become clear he would consider another club. Possible the wages reportedly united have given him could be a reason not to bid but with you saying he wouldn't have been seen as a vvd replacement but the sporting centre half would be viewed as that do you think the change in target could be to do with vvd contract and possible indication on if he's to sign a new deal or not. Or just a case of the new recruitment team being a bit rushed having to settle in and assess the squads needs in the short time they've been at the club, I appreciate that they may have been talking about it before hand as I see Bournemouth gave Hughes permission to be in contact with liverpool.
My view on this window was to expect a quiet one depending on the sales so I'm not to surprised with how it's played out so far.

And with another issue on multi club I'd be interested on your view on this. My view on it is I don't like it my view on it is although an ignorant one is the owners can manipulate the money to suit the needs and the same with players brining players in to a smaller club with a promise to maybe move to the parent club in time where otherwise they wouldn't consider going the smaller club. I remember a few years back now a team in Holland, not sure which now, a manager complaing over the deal with chelsea and having to play the chelsea players and not being able to chose the players he wanted because of that. (Not a dig at chelsea, just something that's always stayed in my mind, abd if you sign up to that type of argreement then you can't really complain when it doesn't go the way you want) and to me I find that a bit disrespectful to the smaller clubs. I know liverpool are looking to go that way, but it's not something I would like to see.
I appreciate I've asked a lot and your a busy man no doubt so feel free to ignore if its not something you want to get into.
Thank for your time.

{Ed002's Note - Good questions.

I dont think the contract situation is the issue - that is largely someithin the club can control. Yoro is certailnly not a consideration in the way forward.

FSG are looking to expand their presence in football from owning Liverpool to taking stakes in other sides. They have looked at Toulouse (which investors in FSG, RedBird Capital, own 85% of) but settled on the far cheaper and in huge trouble, Bordeaux. and want to purchase a MLS side or to take a minorty share in one. The cost of adding Bordeaux means unpaid taxes, unpaid rent for the stadium and other debts must be cleared. The takeover needs to be complete by the end of July else the club will be relegated to the third tier. I suspect the reality of the state of Bordeaux resulted in FSG stepping away to concentrate on investing in an MLS side whilst they continue their chase for a new MLB Francise in Las Vegas. With one time potential Everton owners 777 Partners having a crumbling empire, clubs are looking at their assets. Vasco da Gama is part of that and has been for sale for a while with BlueCo having had exploratory talks after signing two players from them last summer. FSG could look to them also but there could be some legal hurdles to deal with as a Brazilian Court has removed the owners from being able to run the club. Standard Liege and Union Berlin are also embroiled in this mess. Perhaps FSG's new friends at the Saudi PIF would be interested in some sort of further joint venture?}

Thank you for your reply ed 2. I only post rarely but I'm a long time reader of this site, looking through various team sites and am amazed with you're knowledge on all aspects of the game from boardroom to players, there seems like there's not much going on you're not aware about, I'm guessing it's to do with your trade where you gather all your information. I'm surprised the amount of abuse you get on the varies team sites just for relaying what you know to be true when you're going out of your way giving your time to give these detailed replies, constructive disagreement is fine as long as it doesn't get personal, I hope that the abuse doesn't drive you away from keep giving information as most of the time I look through just to read the posts you've replied to across the site to find out what's going on and ed 1 and ed 25 I enjoy reading.
Keep up the good work and have a good day.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}
