Hi Ed,
Are the club looking to sell Fabio Carvalho, and if so is there much interest? I would personally love to see how he does for this season.
{Ed002's Note - I expect he will get a run out in pre-season and then the decision will come. He will want regular game time and that may be a problem.}

So far he looks championship level.
25 Jul 2024 23:27:08
He doesn’t fit into what seems to be so far Slots preferred formation as he’s predominantly a 10 ??.

Arne slot’s latest interview about incoming transfer said that liverpool has set high standards on incoming players. But we found difficulties to sell tsimikas, nat phillips, rhys williams. do we really set high standards players? I don't think so.
{Ed001's Note - so you think we just buy any old dross then?}

phillips and Williams are academy players. Tsimikas was cheap cover for a position that we lacked depth in at the time. Not sure you can grade our incoming transfers using that as a standard. might be better to use other examples.

Another day. Another poster bitching about how rubbish we are at everything. when talking about standards, it's shows your standards with those types of posts ynwacinere.

II think Carvalho has bags of potential (enough to keep him at Liverpool if he can fulfil it) . His problem seems to be his attitude. He was unhappy and struggled at Leipzig when he was just A. N. Other player. From what I read he didn't apply himself well in training and never tried hard enough to win his place in the team but when he was a big fish in a small pond last season at Hull he was happy and played some great stuff. He will need to fight for a chance in the first team at Liverpool so it will be up to him - is he willing to fight to be part of a great club or would he rather be handed an easy life and be a big player at a smaller team.
26 Jul 2024 09:28:43
Carvalho played as a false 9 in the pre-seasonfriendly against Preston. If he stays at Liverpool I would see him as an alternative to Nunez when Slot wants to tweak the playing style.
The reason LFC have trouble moving players on is that this is a high end luxury store and not many can afford to shop there. By that I mean players are priced accordingly and most players either want to stay and fight for a place or don't want to accept a wage cut.
26 Jul 2024 09:31:49
Problem with Carvalho is, he's a number 10, I don't see him on the wing and no where near the level to be an 8 in this side. He needs to leave to get game time. Slot is pretty adamant he won't be playing a 10. Even if he does he's got Szoboslazi, Elliot even Jones ahead of him.
26 Jul 2024 10:12:18
Bit unfair on carvalho. We haven’t even seen him have a run under Slot yet. And Slot wouldn’t have really seen him yet either.
26 Jul 2024 10:48:55
Ironically Fabio best football for Fulham was starting at the 10 but he often pulled out to the left side and cut in. could be a option for us on the LW.
26 Jul 2024 11:19:24
He snootily turned down playing for the Portugese U21's, sulked about playing time under Jurgen, followed by the rumours of a less than ideal attitude at RBL.
All this points to someone with plenty of growing up to do, not uncommon for young people, but also potentially indicative of his nature.
Surely worth 15/ 20m to a championship or french side.
26 Jul 2024 11:29:24
@bjcd I think you’ll find slot plays with two number 10s and no number 8 so carvalho and Elliot would be perfect for them roles rotating with macallister and szoboslai.
26 Jul 2024 11:33:37
Offer him as part-ex for Inácio plus cash.
Would do well back in Portugal.
26 Jul 2024 11:57:19
Shughes55 and if Inacio, Carvalho and Sporting refuse?
26 Jul 2024 12:10:04
Ben davies, kabak, tsimikas, ramsay, ox, steven caulker, klavan is our high of standard players.
26 Jul 2024 13:07:41
Davies, Kabak and Caulker were stop-gap measures when out four first choice CBs were all injured. Ox was proving real value for money until the Roma game. Tsimi and Klavan were brought in as squad players and Ramsey was 18 and had shown backs and bags of potential.
You also failed to mention Ali (who recently captained Brazil) Robbo (who captains Scotland), VVD (who captains Holland), Endo (who captains Japan), Dom (who captains Hungary), Torres, Suarez, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Fabinho Mac Alister, Gakpo, Nunez off the top of my head and loads more.
If you are going to criticise the club at least try and show both sides of the coin.
26 Jul 2024 13:42:52
Do you mean that i have to mention poulsen, jovanovic, markovic, karius, konchesky, kyriagos, sinamma pongolle, grujic too mate?
26 Jul 2024 17:32:33
Do not feed the trolls WDW3.
27 Jul 2024 02:22:14
ynwacinere, that just shows that we, like every other club, buys both good and poor players. We can't have a 100% success rate in the market but in recent times, we have done well. The only high profile player we bought under Klopp who objectively failed was Keita and it was widely reported at the time that we didn't do any of the usual background checks on him. So your criticism that we have no high standard players holds no water.
27 Jul 2024 20:47:20
Jesus unwacinere have you really just threw out Jovanovic as an example of Liverpools bad recruitment? Along with Poulsen, Konceskey and pngolle? The fact the 5 of the 8 you named were signed before FSG even bought the club speaks volumes for the recruitment. pretty sure pongolle was signed before hicks and gillet bought the club.
