Stefan Bajetic on loan to Sociedad as part of a deal for Zubimendi?
Eds…could this be true as a sweetener?
Cheers!

{Ed002's Note - I don’t know anything of it but if Liverpool can add Zubinendi he needs to look for other options.}

He was out best player during the poor second to last season under Klopp. I hope he is not sold.

09 Aug 2024 22:19:54
Really don’t think Bajcetic should be loaned out, he’s already a very good midfield squad option, young as he is.

09 Aug 2024 22:38:34
He won’t get much game time here if we buy another mf. Don’t lose him and don’t let him stagnate he needs to play to improve sounds like a great idea if true.

@Vango, bit of an exaggeration about Baj. He showed a lot of promise but only featured in a handful of games. Not saying he isn’t any good because I think he was showing loads of potential before his injury but I think a loan out for a season to get some serious game time isn’t the worst option.

10 Aug 2024 01:09:04
@vango I think you mean the year before he never got a sniff last season.

10 Aug 2024 01:24:27
I agree with WDW3, lots of people going overboard about a player with 6 Premier League starts. He looked talented but our midfield was on its knees at the time, it wasn’t exactly difficult to stand out.

10 Aug 2024 01:30:28
The whole thing makes a lot of sense in my mind if Zubimendi wants to go to Barcelona as much as is suggested. Buy him, loan Stefan out to somewhere where he can get the experience, sell Zubi to Barcelona in a couple of years with Stefan ready to step in full time.

10 Aug 2024 01:33:05
WDW, absolutely agree.

10 Aug 2024 02:01:56
I do not understand the hype around Bajcetic whatsoever, at least for now anyway.
He played a games for us in season where we performed woefully and it had become clear that Klopp and Ljinders had neglected the midfield. He is known for a good piece of skill against Newcastle that, in fairness, did result in a goal but I believe that single moment is influencing views of Bajcetic more than it probably should.
He also lacks punctuality according to some sources on this site - not a good sign but young players and people in general take time to learn the rules of the workplace.
Would you rather have Bajcetic or Zubimendi at the base of our midfield going into the season? If you think the former, you’re deluding yourself.

{Ed001's Note - it is not according to some sources on this site - it is according to the official LFC site, where players have commented on how he is always late.}

West Derby Wanderer3-Fair enough. Jurgen truly believed in him and he looked set to be the next to come through the ranks. A season on loan can't do any harm, and maybe Neyoni has made himself next in line.

10 Aug 2024 06:54:30
In fairness, Ed, you were the source I had in mind when saying the above.

{Ed001's Note - I have only referred to what the other players say about him. It is a very Spanish thing, so might not be seen as cause for concern, but it worries me. I want a player to be raring to go and not just in early, but to stay behind and work on his game after training. They are the ones you want.}

A loan will do him the world of good after a year out with injury. Zubimendi is a far superior player at the minute and in my opinion is exactly what liverpool have been missing.

10 Aug 2024 08:33:22
Bajcetic seems to have become mythically good during his time away from the team. I've no doubt he's a good player but I don't think any of us have seen enough of him to talk about him as if he's already world class and the first name on the team sheet. A loan to a quality side will do him wonders and if he returns to us fit and healthy next season he'll still only be 20 - he's barely a kid!

10 Aug 2024 08:53:06
I highly doubt the plan is to splash 60mill on a player in the hope Barcelona will pay way more in a couple years. No club is going to do business like that - at least not if they want to stay in business.

10 Aug 2024 08:54:12
I wouldn’t loan him out if we can’t add a midfielder.

10 Aug 2024 08:54:43
I can see a future though where Zubi and badger are playing alongside each other.

10 Aug 2024 08:54:56
I think it’s a good idea. He’s clearly still growing and will struggle for fitness so why not let another team deal with that headache. He will get more experience of different training/ set ups and will probably grow up mentally as well.

10 Aug 2024 10:15:36
He’s not world class and he’s coming off an extended injury period.

He’s got all the skill you need to be world class but has he got the right mental and physical attributes?

We’ll wait and see….

10 Aug 2024 11:24:31
@Phil, you could say there is a precedent with buying and selling at a (mind boggling) print to Barca, with Couts.

10 Aug 2024 11:42:39
Baj is very talented but he needs to be playing esp. after going essentially a year without playing. If a loan is what he needs then, he should take it and go play actual games rather than sitting on the bench for majority of the season.

10 Aug 2024 12:53:35
WDW. Surely we could never be so lucky again. Certainly can’t rely upon Barcelona being so stupid again.

10 Aug 2024 14:34:14
Phil, PSG have offered an open cheque to Barcelona for Yamal, eventually they’ll relent. So yeah, it’s possible that history could repeat itself.

10 Aug 2024 14:34:48
I’d say the coutinho is a fluke precedent. Pretty much hasn’t happened again but also Coutinho was at a very cheap price compared to the apparent fee for Zubi.

10 Aug 2024 15:17:03
@Faith, I didn’t understand the amount they were willing to pay when we sold him and I still don’t now.
