I hardly think MZ is a flake VV, we targeted a player that we knew did not want to leave Spain and he turned us dow. He didn't say he was going to join then at the last min pull out. It's poor planning and execution from liverpool more than it is flakey player attitude.

Just try and go for him, not surprised Zubi didn’t want to leave Spain to come to Liverpool, climate alone is a massive thumbs down. Arne doesn’t seem to have the pull that klopp did. Leaving things late never helps.

Patrick, I think you’re right. He said yes then did an about turn. He absolutely bottled it. Probably just as well as he’d get homesick mid way through the season and be begging to go back to Spain. Total flake. Should have binned him off when he was waivering rather than let it become a saga.

RedWeston, to my knowledge that’s exactly what he did. Told us he would sign then Sociedad convinced him to stay by playing on his emotions allegedly. Definitely flake behaviour if you ask me. Got to move on now anyway. He’s not good enough to dwell on regardless of what really happened. It’s not half as bad as when we missed out on D. Silva or D. Villa!

Jan will be difficult to bring a permanent solution in. Biggest worry we have is at CB if we allow Gomez and VDB to leave. 3 CBs w one who can't stay fit for more than 6-7 games so effectively 2 CBs going into a potential 60 game season. I'd argue that if we allow 2 CBs to leave then we need to bring 2 in.

Bergamo is in the north Navy, and can be very cold. Not saying Bergamo isn’t a nice place, because it is, But Ederson has no connection there. Ederson is on record as saying he’d be happy to leave to further his career and mentioned us as a destination he’d like to go to, he left the tropics and heat of Brazil for the colder climate of the Italian alps, so I don’t think he has those issues. But Zubimendi is definitely a bit flakey, not the kind of personality you’d want if the tough gets going.

Climate? These guys can fly anywhere in the world first class whenever. I’m sorry but if a player wants to stay at such a small club, and I mean no disrespect by that, but due to weather then he’s not worth signing. Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world, a lot of players want to join, MZ seemed keen too, if he was sold on his hole project in mountains and restaurants the. More fool him. Can’t make people sign for your club. I don’t think he’s the right type of player anyway. What we seem to be going for isn’t what we need all of our midfielders can incorrectly a pass and play a nice ball, we need a destroyer. Someone who can be dirty when we’re getting kicked about a pitch and put a proper challenge in.

To be fair I think people like to overcomplicate things. The lad, or agent, obviously gave some indication he might move, maybe he thought about it maybe he didn't. He's free to do as he wants to. Liverpool saw a chance to try get someone who they thought would improve an already very strong squad. Didn't get him and simple they don't see other options available that would be that player to improve us. We have endo, mac allister, Slot is looking at Gravenberch. To go spend big money, it needs to be on someone better than these players, there's no point getting another Endo just to buy someone.

On about the climate in San Sebastian, geez. It's around 10-15 miles West of the Pyrenees. I'm sure they average around 10 -12 days of rain per month and get more snow during the Winter than we get here.

Think it’s more about Real Soc tactics than the player. Having been told to buy out his release clause is basically saying to their fans is like putting in a transfer request. This then loses his connection to the fan base. Plus they played on his heartstrings. I would not say he’s a flake or a bottle job. If RS were cool to sell he’d be here.

@Faith, you could put forward the opinion that Zubimendi was actually very brave, in one sense at least, changing his mind.
He was obviously making himself a target for most of the world’s population on social media who, it seems, have never changed their mind about anything, ever.
That assumes, of course, that Zubimendi is interested in what people might have to say about the decisions he makes in his life choices.

If you tell us you're coming to the pub and then don't, you are a flake. Simple as that, it's quite a non-aggressive phrase for someone who crumbles at the last minute which is exactly what Zubi did.
I can see why he did though, those mountains really are something.

Well said Skezza. Sometimes I worry for the fragile emotions of a lot of posters on here. You’ve only got to look at how upset they get when Ed002 says a few home truths about Klopp or how the club has behaved. Pretty sure he called Klopp a flake once actually. I literally can’t comprehend this misplaced outrage. Never thought I’d see a thread where Victor was the voice of reason. The end is nigh.
