Why would we need to give him a better deal? We could just keep him on his current deal. His deal is not why his dad won't stop trying to engineer a move to Barca.

I have a sneaking suspicion a Gordon + Inacio in and Gomez and Diaz moving on might potentially be on the cards depending on a few moving parts, especially at Newcastle…
Im personally quite happy with what we have if we can lock in a few key senior players and find a top class defensive midfielder. We have a lot of creative midfielders, but really miss someone like Fabinho in his prime (even though I really like Endo, I think he’s a perfect backup) .

I do wonder if there’s even been interest in Diaz from Newcastle. Could facilitate a swap deal that way, but seeing as there’s never been any mention of it I highly doubt that’s a possibility.

Personally I think we need to go into this season with 6 top quality forwards so I would like us to buy Gordon and keep Diaz. Gordon has played multiple games at right wing and center forward.

Agree with Thunderbird. Slot liked rotating his wingers at Feyenoord. Quite often would make a substitution around 55-60 minutes. Gakpo, Salah and Diaz are the only real wingers we have. Just because Jota, Nunez, Elliott, Szoboszlai etc can play there doesn’t mean Slot wants them too. They’re all better in central areas. The only thing a little confusing is that Gordon is more of a LW. But he can play RW, as can Diaz. Slot insisted Diaz is staying and he’s been pretty straight talking so far. No reason to doubt him.

Only Diaz and Salah played the full league game last weekend out of all our forwards.
If the club is looking to move Diaz on playing him is quite risky or does it show his importance. Plus slot said 48 hours previously he wasn’t going anywhere.

Diaz is class and if he’s only on 80 grand a week which has been muted around for a while, not surprised he’s looking elsewhere or getting his dad to do it, Barcelona ain’t buying him so can forget that. Remember jay spearing being on 75 grand a week haha, offer him a pay rise and in return tell his dad to shut up or he’ll be back to the kidnappers haha.
Seriously would Gordon gakpo Nunez or Jota be better than Diaz on left, doubt it myself over a season.

Slot has said he’s not going anywhere, would be a strange thing to say if the club is looking to move him on.

Neither Diaz or Gordon are going anywhere. They’re both going to have to soak it up. As for Diaz’s old man, he ought to keep quiet and try not getting kidnapped this year.

What did Diaz’s dad say yesterday or the day before? I have to admit, I missed it. I have to say, I find the fascination with what Diaz’s dad says as odd. he wants his son to play for Barcelona, so what? I’ve not seen anything from Diaz himself - comments off the pitch or attitude on the pitch that says he wants to leave Liverpool.

Thought for the day - this time last year Jörg Schmadtke was being widely derided for being a bit sh1t, and he’d already signed Alexis, Szobozslai and Endo. IMHO Hughes and Edwards are getting a really easy ride from LFC fans atm. Only consolation is the window will be over in 9 days and we’ll know if we had a masterstroke or a disasterclass.

I’ve already reconciled myself that it’ll be the same old same old of never doing quite enough and leaving ourselves short. Only thing stopping City winning the title is the FA giving them a kicking, but even then that only benefits arsenal and not us.

Diaz is typical of good wide players, gets into excellent positions, moves the defence around but doesn’t score enough goals.

WDW why are you defending Diaz. If that was my dad I’ll tell him to shut up, pipe down and to show a bit of respect to his current club. He’s part of Diaz’s camp so he should keep his comments behind closed doors. Diaz is likely allowing it because he doesn’t want to directly say it himself and put himself directly in the line of fire. It’s embarrassing in all honesty.

@Frode, How do you think you know what Diaz has said / is saying to his dad? When was the last time his dad said anything in public? Perhaps he has told his dad to shut up, for all we know. I’m not actually defending or attacking Diaz, I was just asking a question to try and understand why (not for the first time ), in the absence of any real knowledge or proof of what’s going on, people either use their own opinion (usually based on what they think they would do) or just make stuff up that has no basis in reality. Once again, in your sad rush to disagree with what I was saying, you just didn’t read, or understand what I was saying.

All bitching about Diaz not scoring enough goals, his he not scoring? Does he not create space for others, not giving 100% every game? He’s keeping the likes of Gakpo, Nunez, Jota out of their best positions. If any 1 goes to make space it should be Cody then. He’s currently a better player than Gordon also.
