Hi ed2 is there anything further happening with any midfielders? Or is rabiot the only likely option now.
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool remain interested in others.}

Arthur Melo rides again.

I think Rabiot is so average. Some players are so lucky to have had the career they've had. let's hope we sign someone else or nobody. I rather Ayoni gets the minutes tbh.
24 Aug 2024 07:51:37
You can not like player that’s fine but imagine calling a elite athlete who has worked his entire life to get to that position and obviously is way more talented then 99% of the population at football lucky….
24 Aug 2024 08:09:58
I do agree with Fiske though, I'd much rather Nyoni plays than Rabiot.
I don't want to sound ungrateful but signing Rabiot would be so deflating.

There are 100's of thousands of extremely talented people who never got their chance or will never get a chance to shine because of their social situation or where there were born or who they were born to. I seriously can't believe my eyes reading what you just wrote! A bang average player who have earned millions and millions is not lucky. I need to learn the definition of lucky then! thank you, thank you!
Any footballer who plays at a decent level is extremely lucky they get to kick a ball around and get paid millions for it while we work our ass off trying to make ends meet. And you don't know me, i have more talent in my little finger than Rabiot can ever dream of.
Being a top athlete usually also has nothing to do with talent, but application and hard work. No one ever became anything with talent alone.

I simply don’t get the Rabiot dramatics. He’s a really good player. Sure, he’s not world class but he’s a proven winner who can play LB, CB, DM, CM, AM and LM. Powerful runner with and without the ball who scores and creates goals whilst working really hard defensively.
The only conclusion I can reach on why people don’t want him is because he’s a free agent so it’s a bit boring. Zidane rates him. Blanc rates him. Tuchel rates him. Pochettino rates him. Emery rates him. Allegri rates him. Deschamps rates him. Are all these top managers wrong? Not one of them dropped him or replaced him despite having the funds and time to do so. He was a mainstay for nearly a decade at two of the biggest clubs in Europe. He was never forced out and saw out his contract at both clubs too which speaks volumes about his professionalism right to the end of his time with both clubs. This summer he’s attracted interest from Liverpool, United and Madrid as well so his next career move looks likely to be another European giant.
Are all these people in the upper echelons of the sport wrong, because Victor and his buddies say Rabiot is in fact a “waster” or whatever the new word of the day is today? I honestly don’t believe the posters going so overboard in their criticism have ever watched him play. For me he’s like a left footed Jordan Henderson, with an added aerial threat. Your posts are generally pretty level headed Skezza, but you honestly want a 17 year old with about 30 minutes of competitive senior football in our midfield over a player with 500 games for PSG, Juventus and France who collected 23 winners medals in those games? Come on mate, pull the other one. The level of hyperbole surrounding the Rabiot links is astounding and frankly it’s getting embarrassing now.

and jeeez you are talking like no average player ever played for top teams for years and years. he stays at clubs because he refuses to move to keep getting his huge wages and then huge signing on fees when a bosman player. I though you knew this? Its just business. Just because i can use my eyes am embarrassing? Nope its called having a different opinion, its called having a critical thought in my head and not just accepting anything and everything everyone tells me to be true if i think otherwise based on actual fact. Can't believe you just compared that Lazy slow Lump to one of the hardest working midfielders ever in Henderson, seriously shows that you don't know what you are preaching. Take Rabiot out of any team he played for they would still dominate without him. Jeez you are using match fixing Juventus as an example of how good a player he is!

Well said Mk - couldn’t agree more. I don’t get the hate with Rabiot.
24 Aug 2024 10:32:02
Don’t think you understand what bang average actually means. bang average or below average is me and you at football. Not someone playing at a high level.
24 Aug 2024 10:35:46
What do you do then Fiskeprett? You must make an absolute fortune in your profession/ sport if you have more talent in one finger than Rabiot the multi-millionaire footballer can even dream of. I’d say you must be someone like Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt. Because to make a claim like that you’d have to be the indisputable greatest of all time in your chosen field.

MK’s daily digest. If you stand on all points, you can never be wrong.
I especially like how him running his deal down at two big clubs is as an act of heroism.
Do we need a “left footed Henderson”? I can’t see the need.

I do very well for myself and i didn't focus on sports after reaching 18 even though i played for the U-21 national teams in football, handball, and table tennis and have documents and videos to prove it! You just love talking down people who disagree with you. I focused on my musical talents instead, and do very well writing songs and creating beats for songs that you probably heard on the radio.
Rabiot is an average footballer who has a great agent. If i had his agent when i was 16 i would probably be at Real Madrid or Bayern now finishing my career, sadly my dad refused that i join Nantes when i was 15 at the time and had me focus on school. So please before insulting someone you don't know just stop assuming and making rubbish up. Just like you assumed Salah was the new Aaron Lennon when someone said he would become a world class player.
{Ed001's Note - his agent was his mother, until just recently, and nearly destroyed his career with her antics. Sorry, but suggesting his success is down to 'a great agent' is just an outright load of bollox. His career was heavily hindered by her, not helped.}

I was just generalizing ed, my bad. But how did she hinder his career? Seems he always signs for top clubs on top wages despite not being very good. Seems like she did a great job for her SON.
{Ed001's Note - because she kept pestering managers over his gametime and caused numerous issues with her vociferous arguments. He gets top teams because he is a very good player, with good workrate, physicality and technique. He gets a bad press but he is very much liked and respected by the coaches who have worked with him.}

Arthur Melo? Wasnt he in Dads Army?

I mean, I’ve put up a couple of posts being less than impressed by the prospect of Rabiot. i've seen him play plenty, and for me he’s not a signing that we need. He’s had his share of critics at Juventus, reportedly doesn’t like playing the 6, and albeit I know there’s 2 sides to every story, he’s seen conflict with more than one manager. We’re clearly 3rd to Arsenal and City right now, and Rabiot isn’t a signing you make to close that gap. Honestly, why would we? Is this where our 3 year hunt for the perfect number 6 ends? We’ve missed out on seemingly our only option at a 6 this summer. I’m comforted by reports Slot is having Grav focus heavily on the 6 position as hopefully the stop gap and who knows, potentially a longer term solution. Not ideal but I’d rather see growth from within now we’ve missed our targeted 6. I wish the club would reconsider Bajcetic if reports are true re his Loan.
