Hi ed
Any chance of Tino Livramento being possible replacement for Trent?
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have shown no interest in Livramento.}
09 Oct 2024 08:24:08
It seems ludicrous that Trent, one of our best players has not been tied down on a long term deal. Add to that the fact he is approaching his peak years and is a local lad.
Is this a collective failure by the club rather than one individuals mess? To me the club lack true ambition to win at the very top.
09 Oct 2024 08:32:34
Meanwhile the club that lacks true ambition is top of the table and unbeaten in Europe.
09 Oct 2024 08:57:16
Or maybe Trent is now in the best negotiating position for both options. Perhaps the choice is his and not the clubs.
09 Oct 2024 09:08:24
Out of the 3 Trent is the one there is no chance of leaving. Trent will definitely be lining up for lfc next season.
{Ed025's Note - dont put your mortgage on that June..
09 Oct 2024 09:37:07
Have never wavered from that opinion Ed, trents a lifer.
{Ed025's Note - i would like to think so June but money and lifestyle points to Madrid for me mate...and who could blame the guy?..

Why hasn’t the club locked Trent away in a cell and put a gun to his head until he signs a deal?
It is not within the legal power of the club to make a player sign a contract extension against their will.
Even if you start negotiations 3 years earlier, if the player doesn’t want to sign THERE IS NOTHING THE CLUB CAN DO.
You can accept any transfer bid you want on the player, but if they don’t want to leave THERE IS NOHING THE CLUB CAN DO.
In this country players have free will, like any other human. If a player doesn’t want to sign it’s not a failure of the club, it’s a choice the player can make.
{Ed001's Note - Trent was ready to sign months and months ago but the club never acted Ron. It is all very well saying you can't force someone to sign, but you can bloody well make them an offer! We hadn't even done that and that is a disgrace. Shambolic amateur dealings.}
09 Oct 2024 12:19:04
Ed25, didn't you say that you met him once and he seems to be a nice guy. And it have been suggested to me that he has done lot of charity around Liverpool and UK in general. Doesn't seems to me that he is a footballer who love rich and lavish lifestyle. But that's just my opinion of course. And like you, I would not blame the guy if he decides to leave just because he doesn't feel appreciated by the club. This should have been deal with by the club a long time ago.
{Ed025's Note - i did meet him once at the Whitechapel project mfahmee which is for the homeless in Liverpool, nice guy but as you say opportunities like that do not come up very often and im sure Jude will have been selling him the dream when they meet up with England, good luck to him however it goes mate..
09 Oct 2024 12:49:39
Ok Ed001, I don’t have any insight into Trent’s readiness to negotiate months ago so I have to take that as read. I do know someone who lives near Trent’s dad and he has never wavered from the idea that Trent will stay.
Doesn’t look good at moment.
{Ed001's Note - it had got to the point where he actually asked the club about it. It is insane it has got to this point where the club are handing out contracts to Quansah and Konate rather than dealing with this, most pressing issue. As I have said multiple times, I fully understand waiting for Salah and VVD as they are ageing and it might be time to just extend a year at a time with them. Trent has literally just turned 26, entering his prime years and it should be sorted. I just think they are taking for granted that he will sign as he has been very clear that he wants to stay. But if you take liberties, there comes a point when he will wonder if he is even wanted and can change his mind about staying. Especially when he has Madrid in his ear constantly, making it clear they want him and will give him almost anything. He would be a world icon like Bellingham immediately on signing for them.}
09 Oct 2024 14:03:15
I don’t want him to go but the devil in me would love it if he stuck 2 fingers up to them ( the club.
09 Oct 2024 15:02:48
Bradley would surely be the obvious replacement, no? We also have Calvin Ramsay out on loan who was once highly thought of but I think that ship has sailed.
If we wanted to go into the market for a Trent replacement then we should consider Jeremie Frimpong in my opinion.
09 Oct 2024 16:56:57
What has ambition got to do with with an unbeaten record? Two separate issues.
09 Oct 2024 17:09:25
This one puzzles me. Out of the 3 (Trent, VVD and Salah) I would bet that Liverpool would most likely give Trent a new long term contract. He's been part of Liverpool's most successful teams of late, he's still relatively young and can play on for years to come, he is captain material and I don't think how we would lose out if we offered him a new contract because if we have plans to let him go for free, might as well give him a new contract and sell him a year later for big money.
The same can be said about VVD and Salah. Why not offer them short term contracts (2-3 years) and if we get replacements in, we can still sell them for some money.
Letting 3 first team and world class players go next season would be the stupidest thing that we can do. I have serious doubt that we can replace 3 top class players in 1 transfer window. We do not have that sort of money to spend and it is a huge risk even if we can find replacements as they may need time to settle in.
Also, if we do let Salah and VVD go next season, we'd be able to cover the pay rise that Trent will receive if he's given a new contract. We are already saving 200k/ week after Thiago left the club.
{Ed025's Note - i think if that was sorted 18 months ago it would have been great DAP, but it wasn,t, so now you are in a position where in the new year they can start talking to other clubs to go on a free mate, it means that the club they go to can offer them £squillions as there is no fee to pay....massive mistake imo..
09 Oct 2024 18:27:40
Interesting point of view @Endo.
09 Oct 2024 20:54:49
Once in a lifetime opportunity. Just imagine, whatever your industry/ job is, that the apex offer/ destination/ company/ wage/ project came along and asked you to leave your hometown, comfort zone, who would not think about it?
{Ed025's Note - not many i expect Vango, and im rich and good looking mate, but i couldn,t do it to the women of Woolton, it would be like when Rudolph Valentino died.. :)
09 Oct 2024 21:11:44
I'm not saying this just to be pessimistic for the sake of it, because I generally try to adopt a positive outlook with these things and wait to see what happens.
But I can't pretend it doesn't feel like he's about to leave. Hope I'm wrong, but it felt exactly the same with Owen and MacManaman all those years back. The silence, the lack of time left to sort anything out, no meaningful press releases from either side etc. His best mate is also there smashing it, he's just turned 26, Klopp has left and Carvajal is being phased into a backup role. The timing will literally never be more perfect for him.
If it happens, and I do believe it will, it will be a long time before I'm at the "no one is bigger than the club" stage, ngl. This would be a monumentally heavy defeat for us for a huge number of reasons. I'd be absolutely devastated, especially if he leaves on a free.
09 Oct 2024 21:46:23
Ed025-Sounds like there would be weeks of mourning if you left the local grannies and bingo players to become a wool.
{Ed025's Note - you can get a good tune out of an old fiddle Vango.. :)
09 Oct 2024 22:18:12
If you find an old bike, give it a good ride and pass it on, no matter how rusty it is.
{Ed025's Note - my philosophy exactly Vango..
10 Oct 2024 09:59:37
MK I do not get your thought process in your reply. You state we have Bradley and Calvin, so why would we then replace TAA?
The only reason I can see the club losing TAA isn't to replace him, but to save his wages and gave Bradley for his role. They wouldn't pay to replace TAA when we receive no funds for him.
10 Oct 2024 13:52:41
You'd imagine that, given his age etc, Trent would be the contract that would/ should have been focused on
With Salah and VVD, given their age, you'd imagine the club would be reluctant to give long term deals to such players, but possibly would/ should have discussed one/ two year type extensions
That we are at this stage with 3 very high profile players having their contracts expire in the summer is simply poor - there will no doubt be speculation on all 3 going here, there etc, with Trent we are already hearing possible deals in the media involving cash plus player in Jan - all pure speculation.
The players themselves have been good - yeah, they have said no-one has spoken to them, which is just incredulous, but they have not downed tools or made negative comments etc, but just got on with their jobs and played football
Crazy situation to be in and I would hope that the club get this sorted - the fact they have announced contracts for Quansah and Konate already but nothing on any of these 3 is puzzling, though it is good those two have agreed contracts.
10 Oct 2024 14:26:30
Edd001 there are no guarantees in mardrid. All it takes is a few mistakes or an injury. The grass is not always greener. Hazard, coutinho etc. Yes there's all types of reasons such as players lifestyle but who's to say even Bellingham will still be at Madrid in 3 seasons?
regardless there should be sustained media pressure on Hughes and Edwards demanding answers on why they haven't offered him a contract. Carragher for one should be sounding the alarm.
10 Oct 2024 14:56:19
Bazzinga, you just sound like an FSG conspiracy nut job to me. If Slot/ Hughes don't think we have enough already to cope if Trent leaves, they will sign a right back. We are not operating on a sell to buy model contrary to Twitter. Which is why we've spent significantly more than we've made from selling, under FSG.
10 Oct 2024 20:18:00
Not just waiting for salah to leave at end of season to give trent his enhanced wage structure?
11 Oct 2024 06:24:34
Trent would be just another bosman player in Madrid, amongst the others, with no guarantees that he would be anything special over there. It is a gamble, although either way he's set up for life.
11 Oct 2024 09:00:52
I should bloody well hope so MK, or are we meant to make a profit every summer like this one? Personally i think a young up and coming RB like Dibling from Southampton would be signed if Trent leaves. Fully expect him to stay tho.
11 Oct 2024 11:13:32
There is an easy solution:
Trent - here is a 5 year contract on enhanced wages. We want you to be captain one day
Virgil - here is a 2 year contract on the same wages. We want you to remain captain and lead us to glory whilst you still have some of your peak years left
Mo - here is a 1 year contract on the same wages. We can discuss another one next season if you keep performing like we hope you will.
Now let’s sort of the following year’s contracts so we don’t end up in this crazy mess again.
11 Oct 2024 16:16:49
Mk, not sure how you decifer i am some FSG nut job? Have I upset you, as i don't agree with your idea as some of your little fan club here?
FSG do not spend willy nilly on players, especially when they have two players already in the RB position.
Out of the top six teams, Liverpool are the lowest spenders on players. FSG are wiser how they go about their business. It's shown, yes they will spend when required. However, to let TAA get to with 3 months of being able to negotiate for a move for free tells me then feel comfortable in their position.
