And so it shall begin. Club and player sizing each other up, seeing how levels/ motivation/ ambition/ new coach business unfold, and now the players know that Arne is a good manager and that the reds will be there or there abouts, contract talks begin.
Obviously there could be twists and turns If Real, Barcelona and Bayern throw their hats in the ring, but this is the best league, and for the seniors, legends can be made and set in stone for generations to come.
Mo will surely end up at least 4th highest scorer ever in the prem.

Any elite player that has seen how Mane and Benzema are getting on over there will be put off. Mo can goto the MLS at 35 like messi did, as can Virgil. Trent can goto the MLS at 35 when he's become the most creative full back in world football. of all time. Plenty of cash available in the MLS, better crowds and a more balanced lifestyle than in 50 degree heat all year round.

If all 3 sign a new contract I guarantee you right now that there will be posts about how our aging squad needs looking at, about Trent not being good enough defensively and about the people running the club being incompetent for giving big money contracts to people in their 30's.
I'll be here for it as always. It's a good laugh if nothing else.

Spot on @MK. I think the first cab off the rank, if they all stay will be VVD. Assuming his contract extension would come into effect on July 1st 2025 he will turn 34 a week later. I read somewhere that he’s aiming to play in the World Cup in 2026 which will make him 35 - be interesting to see the feedback from the fans if his form has dropped a notch or two by then.

losing all at the same time would def be problematic - if only for the hit to the club culture. Much better if its spaced out to alleviate the impact. But eventually like all top players they will drive off into the sunset in their overly expensive cars ;-)

All 3 will sign, worry about how slow and crap they'll be in a coupla years in a. couple of years! As of right now this minute there's an argument all 3 are the best in the league in their position, we need them.

I very much doubt there will be complaints if the 3 all sign. Especially if the squad is added to at the same time.
Of course it’s late to begin talks now, talks should have happened 2 years ago. I think the club has woken up hence the deals being discussed for some of the younger players.

Time for Salah to go unless he is willing to reduce wages massively on a 2 year deal. Virg can play another few years and we have to try and keep Trent.

Seano, I've been consistent from day one on that topic. I want all 3 to stay and I do not believe all 3 will leave. However if any or all of them do leave, I think we're financially in a strong enough position to replace them.
I'm simply laughing at how quickly the threads on here went from "Salah should be sold to Saudi as he's lost his pace, Virgil is not a leader plus he's in decline, and Trent is lazy plus he can't defend" to "they're 3 of our best players and we'll fall apart if they leave".
If your opinion is consistent, I respect it regardless of whether I agree with it. Football is subjective so on many topics of debate there is no right or wrong. If your opinion changes with the wind direction though, then I'm sorry but I'm going to enjoy myself laughing at the emotional immaturity of some football supporters.

@Mark, so if VVD and the other two decide they want to stay and sign new contracts before January or even before June 25 would you say that the contract negotiations started too late?

It’s just varying opinions from different posters mate, nothing else. We all support the club but not everyone sings from the same hymn sheets. It’s not a surprise.
