Was it Jorg schmadtke who advised FSG to go after Slot? There were reports of it back in summer of 23” when they were discussing potential successors. Just curious as to who was behind the mastermind decision that it was.

I don’t think Ed02 advises the club @Aoe. Ed02 was saying Arne was very good and that it would be wise of Liverpool to hire him but it was somebody else who would have had the club’s ear.

No bother sid19. My humour is an aquired taste. He is spot on that ed2 did mention slot long before anyone was linked. So bonus points for the info wdw. Now ron keague’s theory on rodeo clowns doesn’t sit with me at all. Its exactly what an advisor would say.

I'm amazed you found the energy to post WDW. I have 2 grandsons of very similar ages and a few hours with them leaves me needing a holiday. Absolutely relentless high octane stuff, borderline hyperactivity. Being in 2 places at once is a minimum requirement in coping with their demands.

I think it was John W. Henry who made the final decision to hire Arne Slot after reviewing tons of data amongst other attributes such as personality, experience etc.
Henry is very, very analytical. It was what was influential whittling it down to 2 candidates last time: Jurgen Klopp or Carlo Ancelotti.

Thank you Ed025 hope you're all good? I really can't see Coote coming back from this. A referee is always meant to be impartial no matter what. Unfortunately nowadays IMO there isn't a decent ref out there. There was a ref in the 80's whom I thought was brilliant I must find his name and post it here Ed025 and see if you remember him.

{Ed025's Note - there have been a few good ones over the years Barry but the standard has really gone down the pan over the last few years mate, for me it coincided with the introduction of VAR and the referees using it as a crutch as any mistakes will be overturned at Stockley Park...supposedly..

100% agree mate either VAR or just plain old refereeing the standard for both is shocking.
