Good hello.
Query: have Real started to look at Liverpool for their areas of weakness.
Right now Slot, Konate and Ryan would be VERY attractive to any team, but only Madrid is an upgrade (and that’s debatable) .
Has the rumour mill had any insight into whether or not Slot sees himself as a lifer or will he move when his contracts up?

I can’t imagine he’s using us as a stepping stone to Madrid. Whether he goes there or not eventually is anyone’s guess but I don’t think we need to worry for a good few years yet.

You do not know that. That’s a guess.
We have no idea how analytic he is and how he has his next five years planned. To me he seems very likely to plan ahead. My point is he’s not Klopp, he’s more pragmatic. If he’s sees an opportunity as being markedly better I think sentiment will not factor in.

Liverpool Football Club is not a feeder system for Real Madrid or their PR team despite if Trent leaves or not.

In answer to your query I don't think that they would look at any one team for solutions. They will likely identify where they need to strengthen and then look at all players from all teams for a solution. Just because they are quality and exceptional for us doesn't mean't mean that they would benefit them with a different setup and surrounded by different players.

I think if we look back at Slot’s history you will see that he’s very considered in his career choices and is very loyal to his current employers.
He was much sought after whilst at Feyenoord and had offer to take over at a number of bigger European clubs including both Chelsea and Spurs which he turned down. Now if he was the type to move without sentiment to further his career then there no doubt he would’ve gone then. Both would’ve put him in the Premier League at a big club with a substantial increase in his salary.
He obviously didn’t feel that was right for him at the time whether that was for sentimental reasons or he just didn’t think they were the right fit. What it does show is that he will not take these decisions lightly and jump ship as soon as Madrid start showing him a bit of leg.
I’d imagine if things are going well at Liverpool and we are winning titles then he would just stay here. At the moment any team in Europe is a step down so why move?
It’s not like Spanish, Portuguese or South Americans who see Real and Barcelona as the pinnacle. Holland is a similar climate to the UK and people tend to grow up watching English football so the pinnacle to many is Liverpool and Utd.

Madrid is the pinnacle for most players and their agents but its a poisoned chalice for any manager in my opinion. Regardless- madrid are unlikely to be looking at a man a few months into the job. Klopp would be a likelier target. After alonso that is.

I’m pretty sure slot only joined us because of the similarity in spirit and ethos between feyenoord and Liverpool, the cities (Rotterdam and Liverpool) and the clubs, in much the same way Juergen felt a spiritual kinship between Mainz, BVB and Liverpool, slot spent much of his career at zwolle so he has vast experience with hard battling underdog teams, Madrid just doesn’t seem like his style at all.

I’d think Madrid are focussed on getting Alonso in as their manager and nothing will have changed them in that respect. As for defenders and midfielders, according to the press, they’re still keen to sign Rodri by all accounts, which is fine. Anything that weakens city is good and they’re also keen on either Gabriel or Saliba, again absolutely fine with that. What concerns me is this story that Ornstein ran about Van Dijk rejecting the contract offer. Feels like that should be something that must get done. There are very few centre backs that come even remotely close to him as things stand. Whereas Trent is ultimate very replaceable, full backs are ten a penny, top class centre backs are very very few and far between and I’m not at all convinced in Hughes ability to find a replacement given his exploits in the summer.
{Ed001's Note - Trent is not very replaceable. You cannot easily replace the best in a position. Anyone else is a downgrade, even Bradley.}

Hi ed001, i seriously don't think Trent is as good as you made him out to be. You will see how he benchmarked when he goes La Liga where every decent player could pass the ball like Trent. I believe we will will adapt our player to create the same chances without Trent. Choose among 3 : VVD, Salah, Trent. If i let go one, it will be Trent.

That pass for Gakpo's goal was exquisite, the fade on it was a thing of beauty and there is very few players who could make that pass.}

Edd001 I disagree regarding bradley. Yes at the minute but not in the seasons to come. I really think he'll be a goalscoring full back and bettering trents assists. The long passing? Never but that's trents special quality unmatched. Also, that pass from trent was technically excellent but it was a ball over the top in acres of space left by man city with the high line. The pass from salah to gakpo was worldclass. Trents the best long ball passer in the league but salah imo, his passing running with the ball and close or in and around the box is the best in the world.
Edd001 I know you love trent like many fans but imo, he's no right to be on 300k plus a week as a full back. The past 4 years, he's averaging 4 or so assists and scoring a few goals. That's MADNESS if reports are correct about the figures. I absolutely could understand then the club letting trent go but definitely should have been sold then for funds.

Trent has a very good passing range but as fans if there was an option amongst the three to leave 1 out, most would prefer to leave him and try to keep VVD and Salah.

I love Bradley and I’m glad he’s at LFC, especially now if Trent does move, which is looking more likely day by day but let’s be real here there is no comparison between the two players. It’s why Klopp picked Trent, it’s why Slot picks Trent and it’s also why Madrid want him as well. Why don’t Madrid try to get Bradley if he is the better option? Sure he might cost a fee but his wages wouldn’t be anywhere near what Trent would demand.
Have to say I’m astonished that people think Bradley is the better option (Mizer excluded as he always had a pop at Trent) .
The only issue I have is can the club afford the high wage demands of all three players ?♂️.

IMO If trent keeps playing the way he has been this year, then by seasons end there won't be many people disagreeing that he is the best RB in the league if not world. His passing is sublime and his defending has really stepped up this year (you could argue that's because the physical demands on him are lessened under Slots system or because of coaching) . The very fact that Madrid are interested tells you they think he is good.

Liverpool is my club but let's be honest if we look at what both clubs have won over the last 20 years you can't really deny that Real is a step up for a professional footballer.
Probably look at quite a few players who could move to any club in the world that have chosen to go there over every other club as more evidence.

Salah pass to Gakpo? Can't be compared to the pass from Trent. That pass is quite out of the world. To hit it in that direction (not just the space), at that speed and strength. just excellent.
And I can't remember in recent memories who can do such passing.
So he is a talent.
But, nobody is irreplaceable unless you are looking like for like.
You would not get any another VVD, Salah, and did not get a Stevie, a Suarez, an Alonso.
These are almost of of its kind talent
Having said all, I think Trent has improved.
And looking back, I think Kloop while leveraging on his strength, expose his weakness too, with the inverted full back and on.
The system is currently much more balance and he start to perform a better defending role.
So, I wish we can keep him.
I would not hesistate to sell him had he want to leave and there is good money we can fetch for him.
Since he will leave for free, I much rather keep him.

Real is the most glamorous spectacle in football but they have a toxic history, a toxic fanbase, toxic ultras and generally crap royalist politics, nobody besides their own fans like them and any respect for them is begrudging, as a player I guess I can somewhat see the appeal because they stand for ‘success’ in the quantifiable sense but all the other factors from a footballing perspective make them a deeply unattractive proposition.

Even trent's pass to Mo that lead to Gakpo's goal vs City. You don't often see that kind of accurate pass from that position of the pitch. People who say you do are just being willfully ignorant.
In saying that, I understand the argument about Trent being the one to let walk out of the 3. That is if the situation is that you could keep two, then I would also lean towards letting Trent go. Bradley is not as good, but is as good as a back-up to take the spot as any. The other two are very difficult to replace internally and in the market.
