LFC will continue with Robbo and the Greek Scouser at left back, the CB's will be the same but expect changes in the summer transfer window.
The only Jan transfer to expect this window is another approach to Zubimendi
I have nothing to offer on the contracts of the big 3 but that is our winter transfer in summary. 1 in and 0 out.
01 Jan 2025 10:46:32
I think the Zubemendi ship has sailed. He plays a similar role to Gravenberch and is certainly no upgrade.
01 Jan 2025 10:49:16
I think if Zubimendi was signed then Morton would surely need to go out on loan as his minutes would be virtually wiped out. Cheers for passing on though mate. Personally I hope you are wrong as we should be going all out for a LB this month. It might not cost us in the league because we can afford to drop points from our position of strength, but in the latter stages of Cup Competitions when we come up against teams like Arsenal or Barcelona I have absolutely no faith in Robbo to deal with players like Saka or Yamal. You don’t get redemption opportunities in knockout competition and we should be targeting at least 1 of the Cups given our current form.
01 Jan 2025 11:02:12
I agree it’s obvious where the weak link is atm. Maybe Bradley can play lb for some games. I don’t trust the club to have a left back ready to move in or even a player ready to help replace Trent. Bradley can’t play every game.
In 12 months they haven’t managed to get one player to sign a new contract so it needs a big leap of faith to suggest Hughes can sign a top player in January.
01 Jan 2025 11:07:00
im thinking no one is signed in JAN,
LFC or the media just blabber on about Zubemendi and other players so other teams can buy them instead and we can have our choice of the real targets without who ever pays the most race.
Also if there is a thing as a wish list, Gruhi and Omar Marmoush should be on that.
No idea which striker will solve our issues, but Darwin is one I expect to be sold in the summer.
Too little too late for the top 3 if they can be persuaded but LFC have totally fukd it up themselves here absolutley shocking what how they operate here.
01 Jan 2025 11:25:11
Except Gravenberch cannot play 90 games a season and Endo isn’t cut at it. We need a midfielder badly.
I am not surprised by our lack of transfer movement. If happened in the past as well.
What an opportunity to create history and here are saving wages.
FSG my god!
{Ed001's Note - it is the European financial regs, not FSG, that require the wage savings.}
01 Jan 2025 11:58:50
Are the wages calculated as a percentage of revenue?
I assumed once players like Matip, Milner, Henderson, Fabs, Firmino etc all left the wages were dramatically reduced. I can’t imagine Diaz, Gakpo, Grav etc are on big wages.
{Ed001's Note - yes, it is a percentage of revenue, but you also have to take transfer fees and agent fees out of that same pot. So, if the club wants to buy players, they need to reduce wages to enable a decent transfer kitty. Or we can do a Chelsea/Newcastle and sell our best youth academy players to raise funds for transfers.}
01 Jan 2025 12:20:00
There’ll be no business this January, it’ll be the usual.
Not sure how Gravenberch is going to manage the workload that’ll be put upon him, as for the defence, we have two long term injuries at centre back which means that Van Dijk and Quansah better not get injured, pick up a suspension or get fatigued. Then there’s the whole Arnold circus to deal with. If he’s not signing should we sell? As it’s going to be a negative distraction for the squad.
Rax, Guehi should not be on any list, absolutely hopeless defender and nowhere near good enough to play for us.
01 Jan 2025 12:27:34
We have the 5th highest wage bill which is nowhere near UTD, City or even Chelsea / Arsenal. I am
Surprised the club has no other revenue stream than selling players for transfers.
What are their plans when we will need a RB, LB, CB are bare minimum in less than 6 months?
{Ed001's Note - or is this because they are preparing to buy those players?}
01 Jan 2025 12:50:15
Well I hope they are Ed01. We will need a a bare minimum 4 players (and that’s excluding Salah / VVD) . There is no reason for them not to sign one in January.
01 Jan 2025 12:58:23
I’ve had to re register as my old username wasn’t allowing me in. Formerly Jonesred haven’t posted in ages.
Just wanted to ask the Ed’s, can they see us look g to wrap up a deal for Alphonso Davies of Bayern this month, as in a free transfer for this summer? An area that needs strengthening and on a free for me would be a good signing. Real rumoured to be looking but surely we would be making an offer. Not a signing for this window but a good one that can be agreed for the summer.
Others I wondered about were Tchouameni of Real or Zubimendi for the summer or maybe can’t see Tchouameni in January but maybe Zubimendi.
{Ed001's Note - I am 99.9% sure Davies has already agreed a deal with Madrid.}
01 Jan 2025 13:09:39
I like your attitude Ed.
I’m the same, trying to remain optimistic!
I tell myself there is no way the club could be run so poorly to let 3 of our best go on a free and barely invest in the summer then, given the position we are in!
Time will tell.
{Ed001's Note - I would be shocked if all 3 left.}
01 Jan 2025 13:09:59
I just never expect us to make signings. I know we do make signings but almost every window I think we all do little to nothing.
I certainly expect with us being top of the league we all skip this window.
01 Jan 2025 13:27:50
Personally I think we need 4 players lb, cb (or one who can do both) gravenberch cover and a striker because nunez as much as he works hard for the team will never be clinical enough (it's been nearly 3 seasons now )
01 Jan 2025 13:39:27
ViktorVaughon, Konate and Bradley are back in training, what 2 long term injuries do we have at CB? I know you love posting negative s**
* all the time but at least do fact check your nonsense.
01 Jan 2025 14:06:36
When did Konate return to full training Fiskespreet?
01 Jan 2025 14:15:01
Zubi is necessary, and is as good as Grav. Grav can not play every match, and anyway, Alexis will be next seasons Real / barca target and will no doubt want to leave, so why not bed someone in early in anticipation of at least Endo and Morton being moved on.
Branthwaite had agreed terms in summer, only for the landscape to change. He is much more a target than the CB from Palace according to reports, and rightly so. He is top class.
At this rate we are going to need a RB and a LB, whilst Gomez will probably move on (he was half way to Newcastle in the summer) .
01 Jan 2025 14:18:08
Slot said so in his press conference, he said that they weren't ready for West Ham because they didn't train but that they should be back soon, because there was a week of training to go before the next game (utd) konate is back very very soon. Probably ready to start vs Spurs i would think.
01 Jan 2025 14:28:00
No he didn't. "It's difficult for me to tell you at this moment because they don't train with the group yet, but hopefully in the upcoming days they come closer to that situation. And then again, Ibou has been out then for five or six weeks maybe, Conor just as long I think, the same amount.
"And also for them, they are in competition with players that are completely fit and doing really well, so I have to make the right judgement the moment they are back with the team. "
01 Jan 2025 16:58:43
Can see Zubimendi going to Madrid.
Apparently wants to stay in Spain.
Hope we pinch him though.
I wonder would that development free up Tchoumeni?
01 Jan 2025 17:27:04
Maybe it’s Hughes remit to replace 4 big earners with finding players never heard of like kerkez etc? Maybe Chiesa is a mo replacement.
01 Jan 2025 18:04:36
Speaking of left backs … what are your thoughts on Keane Lewis-Potter of Brentford. He always looks like a good young player whenever I see him play for Brentford . Only 23 still .
{Ed001's Note - he is not a left-back.}
01 Jan 2025 18:05:34
Need 2 players in Jan, but need to be quality. Easier said than done but feel they are needed. Cb, lb or DM. And proper corner taker would be nive.
01 Jan 2025 18:37:28
whatever you say, just don't look like a complete knob when they are back in training before Utd! jeez. literally saw both Konate and Bradley in training photos from the gym before west ham so they're clearly very close to returning. eeh.
01 Jan 2025 18:39:15
Need a left back in the door in January. Midfielder Striker CB you probably get away with waiting but Robertson is costing us too many goals, we might aswell start 1-0 down with him in the 11 this season. I’d start Tsimikas over him when fit but if we can get someone in then we have to do it.
01 Jan 2025 19:51:08
Not a chance will the owners spend in January stop tormenting yourselves.
01 Jan 2025 21:22:17
@Scouse John, were you trying to be ironic? Kerkez plays for Bournemouth right? Do you remember who was in charge of transfers at Bournemouth when he was signed?
01 Jan 2025 23:48:06
@Klopp4pm, the owners never spend anything in any transfer window - it’s not their job.
01 Jan 2025 23:58:28
Honestly people need to read through published club accounts every year before they make comments on club financials. We generally do run very close to break even on average.
This is the reason that for every season klopp was allowed to spend he had one where he couldnt.
The club has made massive strides commercially over the years but we were about 40 years behind every other top club and now we're just 5 years behind them.
You also have to factor in bonuses as part of player amortisation. It's transfer fee + salary + achieved individual and team bonuses, which successful seasons while earning more money also cost much more money as well, especially given how fsg favour bonus heavy contracts with lower than average base salaries.
Underperforming in certain competitions also means we sometimes earn less from commercial deals as they're quite often structured with milestone incentives.

@wdw3:
I don’t know if you’re taking the p*ss? Not reading the post the way it’s written? Or just thick? Answers in a postcard please
Happy new year.
02 Jan 2025 10:50:44
"Not a chance the owners spend in January"
Suarez, Carroll, Ibe, Teixeira, Sturridge, Coutinho, Grujic, Van Dijk, Minamino, Davies, Diaz and Gakpo were all signed in January windows under FSG.
03 Jan 2025 12:16:15
I may be wrong, but im pretty sure Ed002 told us all that Liverpool had moved on from Zubimendi. He was never wrong from what I can remember.
