Have Palace offered £15 million for Doak?
03 Jan 2025 15:36:54
If they have they can do one.
03 Jan 2025 15:49:16
Yes it’s true, been rejected by Liverpool. Seeking £30million minimum according to Paul Joyce.
03 Jan 2025 15:59:16
Paul Joyce has said that we’d be likely to sell at around £30m.
03 Jan 2025 16:01:04
We turned it down.
03 Jan 2025 16:44:19
30 million would certainly go a long way in helping with the three contracts.
03 Jan 2025 17:03:40
Apparent Ipswich want him as well, if anybody gives us over 30 mil we'd be daft to turn it down.
03 Jan 2025 17:07:20
The fact there is a reasonable value attached to Doak suggests to me that there is no long-term future for Doak at Liverpool. There were rumours that we were open to a sale in the summer as well. Clearly the club do not feel he has the skillset to fit our style of play. Usually the club are proved right and the fans wrong when it comes to selling youngsters. Let's see if this continues.
03 Jan 2025 17:27:13
30 million if we get that, we have had there eyes out.
03 Jan 2025 18:23:36
Maybe Delap would be of interest.
03 Jan 2025 18:24:47
30 million towards contracts?
What happened to the 110 million money for Caicedo?
What a load of rubbish that was from FSG.
03 Jan 2025 18:49:00
We spent it on3 other midfield players.
03 Jan 2025 18:58:06
3 points Sunday is all I want . I.
03 Jan 2025 19:09:34
To me this Doak situation is screaming out for a deal like City and Saints did on Lavia.
Upfront fee, with a sell on percentage and a fixed fee to buy him back.
That way the team buying him gets him cheaper than he's likely worth and Liverpool get some funds right away. And if he really kicks on and performs Liverpool either get further funds later on or an option to resign a top class player.
03 Jan 2025 19:13:47
Even @ 30 million no way would I be selling Doak, he’s having a great season and clearly a special talent, if salah does leave which is looking more likely he will certainly get game time next season, not that I’m suggesting for 1 minute he a salah replacement, but if wasn’t already ours I guarantee he would be getting looked at.
03 Jan 2025 19:59:38
Personally I would sell Doak and Nunez if it allowed us to re-sign the big 3 on new contracts and pick up a left sided centre back, with the freed up wages and transfer income.
03 Jan 2025 20:11:03
If we pay VVD, Tent and Mo £300k a week each, £30m would cover less than a year, in the world of the simple maths used above. @K4pm, don’t worry the money for Caicedo’s transfer is still in a big sack in Edward’s office.
03 Jan 2025 22:26:33
VVD, Mo and Trent all need to be on 400K a week. They have been underpaid for so many years so the money is there.
{Ed025's Note - underpaid?, i must say you have a very different view than most people i expect Rax, when junior doctors are on £16 an hour and nurses even less then i see their wages as disgusting mate, that may be the going rate...but it doesn,t make it any easier to swallow for me..
03 Jan 2025 22:59:04
Doak ain't all that he's quick and agile but has little in terms of end product. I was at burnley v Middlesbrough and the left back from burnley on loan from Chelsea quickly got the hang of him. He goes down very easily.
04 Jan 2025 00:11:38
@Rax, when you say, “… they have been underpaid for so many years so the money is there”, what do you mean? For a start the players signed the contracts for the money they are being paid - they didn’t have to sign if they wanted more money. That aside though, do you really think the club has a bank account for money they have been underpaying people?
04 Jan 2025 00:38:33
Underpaid whilst talking about individuals earning around £150k-350k a bloody week! Away to bed Rax embarrassing.
04 Jan 2025 00:39:25
Oh so we thought we get Mbappe for free and he wouldget paid £100K a week.
04 Jan 2025 02:37:29
Now you’re changing the subject mate. Put the shovel down and get some sleep. The world will look different in the morning.
04 Jan 2025 03:18:40
Jaydee, I think you are wrong. He's been doing well sure but special? he is not. Good thing he has on his side is time and in an ideal world we keep him to see what he can do but he's no special talent, at least not yet he's not. If we could get £30 million (we won't) for a player who's scored 2 goals, assisted 5 in 20 games? I'd snap their hands off. Any less? sure keep him and see how he gets on.
04 Jan 2025 04:49:26
Salah-Exactly, half a season is the championship doesn't prove anything yet.
Edwards is good at extracting high fee's for unproven players, though.
04 Jan 2025 06:23:19
Vango, that’s exactly my point, half a season in the championship and he’s already rated as one of the best players in the league, he’s just turned 19.
That’s exactly what loan deals are for, he’s playing week in week out for a team battling for promotion, I think the loans working out perfectly and he will come back to find himself getting plenty of opportunities next season.
04 Jan 2025 07:14:44
Why suddenly some people seem suggesting we need sales for that 3 players' new contracts? Where the heck that comes from?
04 Jan 2025 07:32:59
Elliot did that at Blackburn @Jaydee. Harvey learned a lot and came back ready to challenge for a spot in the team. No reason why Doak can’t be the same.
04 Jan 2025 07:36:59
Navy Keith id have to agree with you regarding Nunez, he’s shown so much promise but literally everybody is ahead of him in the pecking order now, Diaz Gakpo and jota all preferred ahead of him, it’s a real shame as he 100% possesses the required skill set but his actual football intelligence is just so poor, i think he’s far more dangerous when he plays on left cutting back inside, he’s incapable of leading the line and after 3 seasons im not sure he has what we need, hopefully im wrong because I absolutely love other aspects of his game, if anyone can nurture his raw talent it would appear that slots the man, I think the majority of the players have improved significantly under him this season, Nunez just seems to be stagnating.
04 Jan 2025 04:48:34
Ed25 - underpaid relatively in comparison.
Point is Salah and VVD to some extent would have commanded higher than what they are earning at other clubs.
That is what Rax meant.
Your comparison with non footballers is invalid. If we comsider it, you are right.
These guys are all earning out of the world wages.
{Ed025's Note - i was basically commenting on the injustice in life really Sami, when people who are saving lives are earning £28,000 a year compared to footballers who are earning £20M a year mate, its just unfair imo..
04 Jan 2025 10:03:08
I'm betting we will take 25M for Doak if the offer is made. It's also said he prefers to stay a Middlesboro than go on loan to anyone else right now.
04 Jan 2025 10:07:06
Another clueless FSG post.
04 Jan 2025 10:21:00
RAX
That's 62.5 million a year. Come on lad.
04 Jan 2025 10:31:21
Having a similar season"end product-wise"to Olise when he was 19 in the Championship. Personally i think after this season £30m will be the lower end of what Doak will be worth. Like the likes of Olise he just needs game time at a good level, which he is getting.
04 Jan 2025 17:24:31
Ben Doak is not worth £30 million.
04 Jan 2025 18:18:09
He’ll probably end up going for closer to £20m plus add ons. If he gets a move to palace that would suit him as they’re likely to stay up, Ipswich less so.
04 Jan 2025 21:10:15
Would no one rather keep him and see how he develops, or do all our academy products have to be 1st team ready by 18/ 19 now?
