Long time reader and occasional poster. Love the site. I know I am opening up a huge can of worms, but is there anything in the news I read this afternoon about Elon Musk wanting to buy Liverpool FC? Read a few articles on it Today. Has the Eds or anyone else any information? Thanks.

I pray this isn't true.

04 Jan 2025 18:39:43
He should bid for everton. They are always for sale.

04 Jan 2025 18:46:04
I have no issues with him purchasing the club.

04 Jan 2025 19:09:48
He should buy united, they already have a few robots at the back.

04 Jan 2025 19:26:25
He is a big twat and is everything liverpool and the city is not. he is against unions and asks people on x (twitter) if he should fire people and so on. he is rich and a good businessman but not one we should be hoping for at all. that's my take on it.

04 Jan 2025 19:54:19
Despicable human being.

04 Jan 2025 19:57:54
He scares the s**t out of me. I’d hate it if he bought our club.

04 Jan 2025 19:58:00
I like him as a person. The sacking of people was regards free speech police on X. I’ve no problem with that. Don’t know anything about his dislike of unions but wouldn’t be against him sponsoring us.

04 Jan 2025 20:01:04
Elon is as said everything this club is not, wouldn’t want him anywhere near us.

04 Jan 2025 20:17:43
I don’t think he’s ever been interested in buying a sports team. Thankfully.

04 Jan 2025 20:36:13
It’d be horrible. We’d be renamed L, moved to London and he’d probably change our crest to DOGE.

04 Jan 2025 21:04:10
He’s trying to buy influence. Never something that wins me over. As well as trying to interfere in this country’s politics. Even worse. He should stick to South Africa.

04 Jan 2025 21:06:02
I don't agree with violence at all but musk just has a face that you'd never get tired of hitting.

One of the most unlikeable people I've ever seen.

04 Jan 2025 21:12:10
In fairness John W Henry is a vulture capitalist too. So let’s not pick and choose on this. It’s hardly like either of them are Arthur Scargill.

04 Jan 2025 21:54:07
Leaving aside his recent purchase of the Republican Party, Elon Musk has lost the ability to take advice and his approach to owning a football club would probably be a disaster.

He's exactly the kind of person who'd be liable to do something like overrule the football people under him and sack Slot if we lost to United tomorrow. If we were really lucky, he'd "only" be like Brexit Jim at Man U cutting the club administrative staff and charitable donations to the bare bones. If we weren't the club structure would be constantly in flux as technical directors etc. get sick of his crap and quit.

Absolutely not a person we need, I don't care how much money he has.

04 Jan 2025 21:57:40
He can do one, he’s like a low rent Austin Powers villain. There’s several other words I’d like to put in but I don’t think the Ed’s would allow it.

04 Jan 2025 22:05:29
If Elon Musk buys this team then I’m sorry to say that I’ll probably have to stop watching or supporting Liverpool football club until he sells up.

04 Jan 2025 22:29:14
Just like to add that I completely agree with Patrik.

04 Jan 2025 22:32:01
Keep that apartheid fat fascist person out of our club.

04 Jan 2025 22:37:21
Apparently his Nan is a Scouser (born in Mossley Hill), so there is a connection to the city, but I don't think he represents what the city stands for.

04 Jan 2025 22:46:03
The biggest man child in the world. Hope he stays the fook away.

04 Jan 2025 23:06:29
Has it ever crossed your mind that the union situation in another country might be different than it is in your own? Or that your understanding of American politics is likely based on third-hand experience, at best? Just saying.

04 Jan 2025 23:11:30
Bye no Patrick.

05 Jan 2025 02:08:51
Liking Elon Musk is akin to saying the Tories managed decline policy in the 80’s was a great idea.
God I really despair at the dumbing down and pure ignorance of our fan base these days.
Log off Facebook and X and Go read a f%#*ing book.

Enron would be a terrible person to run the club. This is a guy who locked factory workers inside at Tesla during COVID and prevented them from going home, they were forced to sleep on the concrete floor.

He also twice broke the law trying to prevent unionisation by threatening to take away contscually guaranteed stock options for staff.

He is also no free speech warrior, he regularly bans and restricts accounts which speak badly of Tesla or disagree with him personally.

He's also a liar. He doesn't have a physics degree and never attended college, he just said he did to make himself sound smart, the college themselves said the degree he lists on his CV is one they've never offered.

Finally this is a guy who bought his way in to Tesla and SpaceX, ousted the original founders, told everyone he founded it then took massive amounts of government money while criticising people who take government money.

He also regularly tells the story of his sons death, except he lies and says it was him who was with his son when he died when his ex wife confirmed he was working at Tesla and didn't bother to come home. As a person who lost his son this year I find that personally egregious.

He's a human skidmark and should come nowhere near the club.

05 Jan 2025 05:08:40
That's in the wind up hall of fame right there! lol.

05 Jan 2025 08:37:12
Can't say I'm a fan and I don't think Musk would be a good owner but the level of hate seems a little unwarranted.

05 Jan 2025 08:49:10
Nevada - is it true that his son died?

The boy changed gender and he has now become she.

05 Jan 2025 09:44:27
Elon Musk would use AI to decide which players to buy and sell. Maybe AI also for tactics.

05 Jan 2025 10:22:03
Sami, he has about 12 children. His first child died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

05 Jan 2025 11:24:37
I don’t think it will happen with Musk. Not sure why people think Liverpool being synonymous with unions is a good thing, the reputation of the city in the 70’s was terrible partly because of industrial unrest and lots of companies pulled out because of it. There’s still a hangover from it now, and it partially caused decades of economic decline. The politics of the city aren’t something to be proud of people, stick to football.

05 Jan 2025 11:40:57
JordanSimon, I take it you’re a fan of Thatcher?

05 Jan 2025 11:58:42
No I’m not Patrik. I lived in Liverpool through the 70’s and 80’s and I’ve seen the damage caused by politicians of all persuasions, locally and nationally, and my family and lots of others have suffered because of the reputation of the city. So many young people have to move away for work, because businesses wouldn’t either stay or set up here. I came back to Liverpool after uni and thankfully got a good job, and settled in a nice area, but the city is still very deprived in parts. Some of that’s due to local as well as national politics and other things like the education system. It’s complex which is why it’s best left to other forums.

05 Jan 2025 11:59:48
PatrikBurgher, not everything has to be a dichotomy. The country has generally been run dreadfully by both sides for decades and that's why it's such a mess now.

05 Jan 2025 14:37:11
For the record I don’t believe in political dichotomies either, and not that it matters at all but my politics lie very very far left so it’s not like I support pandering politicos of any stripe, that’s neither here nor there but it sounds to me like you are blaming urban disrepair, unemployment and decay on the greedy rabble. I also cannot abide folks making Elon musk out to seem like anything other than an utterly odious exemplar/ figurehead of everything that is deplorable about the current state of things.

I’d like to believe that Liverpool football club still has something to do with its heritage, with the spirit of shankly, at the very least that the fans, or at least some portion of it, can still hold the club accountable to certain values, however futile that might appear. That’s just me though, but I find it a bit distasteful for folks to propose that any owners are welcome since the game no longer means anything, football is just spectacle and escapism and only success of the club we support on the weekend counts.

Snowflake social justice warrior signing out, surely writing this stuff will draw the ire or mockery of some quarters, whatever. We’re all fans of this great club for better or worse.

05 Jan 2025 19:20:19
SamiKewell his first son with his first wife died as an infant in his mum's arms but he often tells the story and puts himself in her place because it's a more sympathetic story.

05 Jan 2025 19:23:50
@Babbity that's not really accurate it hasn't been wrecked by both sides it's been wrecked by one side wearing two different colour badges.

Corbyn would have actually been a candidate from the other side but he didn't win.

Blair was a more media friendly thatcher whose policies reflected the middle class rather than the working class and starmer is a a watered down Blair.

The left is pretty much only represented by green now, every other candidate is right or REALLY right.
