Read some rumours about us preparing a player (Nunez) plus cash deal for Kvaradona. While I really want Nunez to succeed, I think this would be a great deal for everyone involved. Let's see if there are any legs to it though.

Can't see it tbh. He's off to psg.

12 Jan 2025 23:08:45
I really don't get what the appeal is for Kvaradonna to go to PSG, other than cash, and an easy ride against sub-standard teams, week-in week-out.
Surely he'd be tempted by the title charge and the bustle of the prem.

“other than cash, and an easy ride against sub-standard teams, week-in week-out. ”
-
Read that again.
-
Plus they’re very likely to win a title and compete in the CL every year.
-
I don't know the players motivations at all but…….

12 Jan 2025 23:31:46
You're right Vango it's cash all the way.

13 Jan 2025 00:32:28
I think it would depend on the individual perspective n’s outlook on life. In simplistic terms easy money versus a desire to achieve as much as you can. Of course the two aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive but in this instance, for this person, as you say @Vango it’s a case of take the money and coast (relatively speaking) versus take the money and work very, very hard.

13 Jan 2025 01:18:22
I imagine the appeal is that PSG have actively tried to sign him, by speaking to his agent and club.
I don’t think the same can be said for us or anyone else.

13 Jan 2025 05:35:31
@thekoparmy, I just don’t get why people still think Nunez is going to come good. It’s his third season and he literally offers nothing to the team when he’s on. In fact, we are handicapping ourselves when he plays, we automatically are playing with only 10 men. I know it sounds harsh but we bought him to do a job and he has failed miserably, and he just needs to be gotten rid of.

{Ed001's Note - he is certainly not like being a man down, that is utter nonsense. He is not scoring goals but he is still performing a part in the team.}

13 Jan 2025 07:34:32
Looks like your engine needs more oil chaos.

13 Jan 2025 07:46:37
37 goals and 21 assists in 122 appearances, whilst hardly at Salah levels, is also not exactly
Ike playing with a man down. Some folk don’t half talk nonsense.

13 Jan 2025 07:56:17
In the nicest possible way, he’s just not the sharpest tool in the box. It’s time he was upgraded in the summer.

13 Jan 2025 09:00:02
1985Mikey literally hit the nail on the head. PSG made an offer to his club and him, while we monitored, followed, tracked and any other verb you can think of which didn’t involve doing anything tangible. Either way, it has nothing to do with us anymore.

13 Jan 2025 09:02:16
Nunez can play just not to our style of football. We require he's on the ball a lot even when not in scoring positions, sadly his choices in intricate positions is questionable at best and heaven forbid when he gets too much time to think lol. Good luck to the lad though, he's emensly likeable and will succeed elsewhere.

13 Jan 2025 09:28:51
Ed001 The biggest problem with Nunez is he seems to be getting worse with his scoring record. I still think he could turn out to be a class forward when he scores a few goals you hope it’s the start of him turning the corner but he just doesn’t and maybe it is coming to a point where maybe he might need to move on and am sure if he does he will turn into a very good striker but sometimes things just don’t work out and maybe he needs to play week in week out somewhere. He is very frustrating at times but he always puts a shift in and we normally appreciate that here but he seems to get more stick than most players but we always have to have one player here is seems may it be him Gomez Mac Jota or Jones where do have a group that seem to jump from one to another. Maybe it’s because recently we have been spoiled.

Comparing like-for-like against our closest realistic challengers I would take Nunez over Havertz every time (although I feel for the guy after the abhorrent messages sent to his wife during the match yesterday) .

He doesn't score enough but he offers a lot to the team. Just read Salah's comments about him.

That said, I like him a lot as a player but I won't be gutted if he moved on and was replaced. A part exchange for Kvaratskhelia makes little sense though. Why would we lose a player who plays through the middle for yet another left winger!?

Both Diaz and Gakpo play in Kvaratskhelia's position and both have a goal involvement approximately every 130 minutes compared to Kvaratskhelia's 260 minutes per goal involvement so its hard for me to see where the logic would be in the transfer. Surely if we were to part-ex anybody it would make far more sense to swap Diaz who keeps trying to leave the club anyway.

13 Jan 2025 10:37:44
But this is the first season Diaz has had a consistent end product, Kvartshkelia has always had the end product. Plus he's only 23, and will only get better, and a few times I have seen him, he looks like someone who can be the best player in the world (unlike Diaz and Gakpo, with all due respect) . Sometimes, when an opportunity is available to buy such a player you have to take it. Also, Diaz is now played more as a CF, so we would still have Diaz and Jota for the CF position. Its just my opinion, but I would love to have him at the club.

13 Jan 2025 11:13:54
1985Mivkey and VV are right.

PSG has taken efforts to sign him, make him feel he will be their star man in the team.

Our's is all smokescreen with no real intention ever. If fact we should appreciate PSG as other clubs don't go to Napoli as their owner is most difficult to work with.

It is good for Nunez and LFC if he soon finds a new place. It is not working out for him here. Imagine he is behind Jota and some fans want to see the new kid given first team chances. (score against Stanley)

These days his frustration is overtaking him and he get needless yellow card. they might injure other if he is not careful.

13 Jan 2025 11:24:43
I have to agree that Nunez is a likeable bloke and he always puts a shift in, Salah rates him and so do the rest of his team mates, If he had Jotas ice cold finishing he would be up there with the best in the world, There is definately a player in there i just don't think its as a number 9. i think we will keep him for the rest of this season. i think the fans would love him to score more its definately not through the lack of effort, He to Salah is like Heskey to Owen. I hope ot turns around for him . YNWA.

13 Jan 2025 11:39:47
I agree with worzal. Maybe he is not a number 9, and probably will be better if given another role. I thought of Joelinton when I read your post.

13 Jan 2025 11:55:56
The worry with Nunez is he's gone from a goal or an assist every 120 minutes in his first season, and every 97 minutes last season, to a goal or an assist every 170 minutes this season.

He's going in the wrong direction.

13 Jan 2025 12:06:47
The fact is that he shows glimpses of being a great player (in Italy) but what we have in his position (and who are both proven in the Premier League) are statistically superior (both twice as effective in a much stronger league) and it is not an area of the squad that needs strengthening. All it would do would be to take transfer funds away from areas of the team that desperately need strengthening. This isn't Championship Manager. The grass isn't always greener and why try and fix what isn't broken?

He would be a good signing but it would be an unnecessary cost. Let him go to PSG and we can focus on signing a midfielder and a couple of defenders.

Oh and obviously there is the fact that we are all talking about this because of a throw away comment from a journo. The club are not releasing these stories, they are not smokescreens designed to trick us into thinking that they tried to sign him. Just chill out and wait for something concrete.

13 Jan 2025 12:12:50
Thing I’d say about Nunez is that he’s never found wanting for effort. He’s a little bit like Dirk Kuyt in that technically he’s somewhat lacking, but heart, fight and effort, he has in abundance.

{Ed025's Note - but as Fowler said VV that should be a given mate..

13 Jan 2025 12:49:01
If we haven't done the groundwork on Kvara, then it should be no surprise he's choosing the club that has. Same thing with Caicedo choosing Chelsea over us. The Sporting Director et al should be out there charming players with the project, not the local rags to gaslight us by telling us who we are monitoring or like.

13 Jan 2025 13:36:20
Does anyone else think Nunez would be better out wide or even as a number 10? He seems to have excellent link-up play and great running with the ball.

13 Jan 2025 13:59:23
Yeah, what could be the appeal of €250k a week, living in Paris, winning the league every year and competing in the last stages with a chance to win the Champions League every year.

Sounds awful. Poor lad.

13 Jan 2025 14:37:40
I can't see how anyone can talk about gaslighting after Slot's comments on the Kvara transfer.

13 Jan 2025 14:23:54
Ed025, if God speaks. you listen. He's a good lad, but we just need a more prolific no9.

{Ed025's Note - you need a new "God" Ritchie..

13 Jan 2025 15:14:53
Robbie Fowler spot on - likeable industrious lad but not a Liverpool forward. If we could sell him and Doak on and go balls out for Isak who has a proven pedigree in PL and year on year has consistent high stats he’d score a hatful for us! ??.

13 Jan 2025 16:19:20
I’d wager that if klopp was still here Darwin’s numbers would be better. The role of the number 9 has shifted in slot’s system, you see that with Jota’s game too. I think Darwin, as huge of a fan as I am of his, just doesn’t fit what slot wants anymore, and it’s making him look worse than he is. Credit to the lad for still trying as hard as he can to put in a shift for the team and follow tactical instructions, I think it’s nonsense to say that he doesn’t have a footballing brain, maybe sometimes in crucial moments he can make the wrong decision but doesn’t any attacking player? A lot of times this year he has made the right play at the right time (which is often the simplest play, which proves he isn’t a player who loses his head whenever he’s presented with a crucial decision), it’s just that when he makes the wrong one it gets magnified more than others.

13 Jan 2025 19:19:26
If i were sell Darwin i would have just gone after Omar Marmoush, he seems a much better player and Salah knows his plus he would come to us rather than a Team that won't be in PL next year.

13 Jan 2025 19:31:16
His problem for me, is I think Nunez is almost better of the left. However he would not get a sniff ahead of Diaz or Gapko. When Salah was in afcom I though he looked good there with Diaz of the right.
If we sold him, did not renew Salah, and Diaz leaves, it would be a mistake for me. If those 2 remain, I'd unfortunately cash in, and buy a proven goal scorer.
Last thing for poster who said its like playing with 10. Utter rubbish, he bring a lot to LFC, barring the goals we would want. Bobby was hardly prolific, but was the main cog in that front 3.
