Harvey Elliott is going nowhere despite all of the internet chatter sending the sharks into a feeding frenzy.

I don’t think anyone here thought he would anyway.

Harvey is the closest to one of us on here managing to make it at LFC.

I feel the club would have to prise his fingers off of the doors to get him out if they wanted that. The boy is a Liverpool fan through and through and it is fantastic to see.

Yeah I think he'll be huge for us in time.

I really enjoy watching Harvey play, his first touch is one of the best i've seen. Hopefully he has a long and successful career with us.

Reminds me of Danny Murphy when he left Liverpool. At his press conference when he joined Charlton (I think), he could hardly manage a smile. Subsequently said he wished he hadn't left and had stuck around to try to fight for a place (Liverpool won the Champions League the season immediately after he left) .

It must be "difficult" if you are lucky enough to end up as a pro at the club you support but don't play regularly. Do you stick around, happy to be a squad player or a substitute, thrilled just to have the chance to get on the pitch sometimes, pick up some medals and a great salary but end your career with limited appearances/ minutes, or go somewhere else where you play regularly, achieve more individually and perhaps have a better chance of getting selected for your country, etc?

I have to admit that I thought there was a real likelihood thag he'd be sold. Kinda relieved that he himself has come out and said he'd be going nowhere.

Which position do you all see Harvey playing, and who’s going to make way or how would we adapt tactically to fit him in as a starter?

I like his attitude and skill set, but can’t quite see where he fits for us at the moment given the way we set up tactically in most games. I think he may be more of a rotation option, or if we change shape for certain games he may then get a start where we need less physicality.

I don’t think Harvey or any of the home grown squad members like Jones etc, will be shown the door anytime soon. With potentially Trent and Kelleher on their way out, there’s no way we would let Gomez, Jones or Elliott go.

Harvey will do well against teams in a low block, he has that touch and guile to thread passes through and invariably hits the target with his pot shots. It’s no coincidence that he’s scored a few from deflected shots through a packed area. You just have to accept that he’s weak in the tackle and you’ll be giving chances for the opposition to break on you whilst he’s on the pitch.

Thats why he’s an option to come on with 20 minutes to go when you are willing to take risks to get a goal.

Not sure if he’s ever going to be a regular starter under Slot though. His defensive game just isn’t good enough.

Agree Beckers. I think that’s where it’s a tough choice, more for him than us.

I think we’d be happy to keep him (except for the fact he’s all profit PSR wise), but for him as a fan and a player he won’t want to leave but it’s a dilemma whether a squad position will be enough for him. Slot has said he needs to improve physically and maybe if he does he can force his way in somewhere,

It’s similar to the Danny Murphy thing in many ways, he lacked pace as well but had other really good attributes.

I think last season Klopp made a massive mistake not playing Elliott earlier in the run in sticking sobs and Jones instead and both were out of form at the moment Slot is making the same mistake. I love Harvey always gives 100% and he is such a clever footballer to.

harvey can play 10 or RW. no one needs to make way for him because none of the guys who are ahead of him are going to be available all the time and playing at their peak form all season.

22 Jan 2025 22:06:11
The problem with Elliot is his speed. If speed can be trained but could be also due to earlier injury during debut season.

Atm i can't see Harvey becoming a first team starter but i can def see the club not wanting to let him go. Remember the regs around club developed players are only going to become more strict so clubs are going to want to hold onto any half decent player.
