Ed001, you may rightly say take this to the Man City boards, but as Harry's here at the moment, they are a bit quiet!
I've always fancied Camavinga as being an awesome addition to our team (or any team for that matter) but I thought he was settled in Madrid.
A story today, albeit from Football Insider, says that Man City will have to stump up £70m to prise Camavinga from Madrid.
Are Madrid open to selling him? If so, it would be crazy for us not to be in the mix as he is as close to a perfect midfield addition for us - young (just turned 22) can play CM and CDM (so could rotate with Grav as well as in a more traditional CM role) and can offer backup at LB and CB.
Any whisperings that RM may be looking to let him go? And are we interested at all? I presume that if they are willing to deal, it would be him or Tchouameni but not both?
{Ed001's Note - they are willing to sell one or the other yes. They need to reduce their wage bill due to la liga's salary cap.}

Thanks Ed001. Do you rate either as being good additions to our squad (or both)?
And separately, are you aware of us scouting either of them recently?
{Ed001's Note - i would take either but they don't fit what Slot was looking for.}

Ed, maybe someone need to tell him that in England you need to have some bite in your midfield. You can't have all playmakers in you midfield. Your midfield will get bullied heavily like yesterday by the likes of Joelinton of all people. Even in history of EPL winning side, their midfield has someone to do the dirty work. Keane, Viera, Makalele, Kante and Rodri to name a few. Even Klopp side has prime Fabinho in it.
{Ed001's Note - to be fair we have managed to get away with it this season, but the rest won't be as bad next season.}
17 Mar 2025 12:52:25
I would hope we get in someone who can do both. I'd love to have either Camavinga or Tchouameni, both of whom have that bite but can also pass. My preference would be for Camavinga as he's younger, a bit quicker and left footed which may help balance in midfield (and defence if he is asked to fill in there)

Camavinga has been very injury prone over the last 2 years, that’ll be why Madrid are quite happy to let him go and I’d hope we took that into account before looking at him. I think it is evident that we are a soft touch in midfield, personally would hope we went for someone like Ederson or Baleba to add some physicality, but just can’t see it happening.

That is my thought. If we do win the league this year, we probably the only side that doesn't have someone in mold of the players I have mentioned in the starting lineup. I seriously can't think of any side in the last 10 years that have win the league that play without a Rodri kind of player in their starting lineup.
On that note ED, I don't know if you have watch much of Forest and Palace game this year. But what are your thought on Elliot Anderson and Wharton? Wharton is out injured for a long time I think. Both would be a good player to add to our midfield I would think. I doubt Slot would agree though.
{Ed001's Note - both are great players, Wharton has come back and lifted Palace. Anderson has been a key player for Forest all season. Both are playmakers too.}
17 Mar 2025 13:57:14
Klopp midfield of milner Hendo and wijnaldum was not creative at all and got slated for it. but what they did was work their socks off. tackle . generally horrible to play against . and just pass it to one of our front 3 to do the biz .
17 Mar 2025 14:19:24
You know if we have interest in both ED? I know Wharton has been really good since last season but Anderson, hasn't heard much about him last season. Even this season I don't see many peoples talk about him that much. When talking about Forest, most will talk about Murillo and Gibbs White.
{Ed001's Note - we were interested in Wharton prior to his injury, I would expect us to have maintained interest. Anderson was a surprise sale by Newcastle and I have no idea why we didn't jump in once it became known they had to sell for ffp purposes. I haven't heard of us showing any interest, though I think that is a mistake.}
17 Mar 2025 15:07:19
Ed001 (and others) just your view - would you pick Wharton (especially) or Anderson over Camavinga or Tchouameni? Everyone loves a foreign name (! ) but players already adjusted to the EPL as well as counting as HG surely have some upsides too!
{Ed001's Note - I would take Anderson first, Wharton would be on a par with those two for me. They are well adapted to the league which is a plus.}
17 Mar 2025 15:08:38
Not sure Grav and Szob are playmakers. In fact I’m not sure what does / has done in last 10-15 or so games. I’d have Endo sitting there in games where we need to win duals with Grav and Macca rotating and in games where we will have 70-80% possession then maybe Grav instead of Endo.
17 Mar 2025 15:19:17
I've seen basically none of Anderson and Wharton. What kind of players are they?
{Ed001's Note - Anderson is a similar type of hard running midfielder to Szob. Wharton is more of a playmaker. Both have a bit of bite though.}
17 Mar 2025 18:24:55
Camavinga is a bit of a show pony for me. I wouldn’t be certain he would be up to the cut and thrust of the PL and I would guess he wouldn’t want to come either, who knows ?♂️
I liked Wharton but he’s been injured a bit this season and gone under the radar but he’s the one I would like to see in a ref shirt.
17 Mar 2025 18:45:54
What u make of bergval of spurs ed1? I impressed by him of what I seen, don't think he what we be looking at as he v raw yet but he only 18 I think he can go on to be a v good player.
{Ed001's Note - not seen a lot of him other than rash challenges to be honest.}
17 Mar 2025 18:49:16
I think if nothing else yesterday proved how important TTA is to our side. His creativity from right back is so valuable to the way slot sets the team up more important than VVD and Salah can understand why RM want him he puts teams on the back foot as he starts an attack from defense.
17 Mar 2025 14:41:55
Camavinga is a brilliant player. His injuries are a concern though.
I think Real would prefer to keep him over Tchouameni who seems most likely to be moved on.
Given the choice, I would choose Baleba over Tchouameni. Only just, mind.
17 Mar 2025 14:45:16
MighyR3ds - there's no point comparing the 18-20 team to the current one. The game has moved on since then. The gegenpress has been met with the pressbait. You can't simply press the living daylights out of the Premier League and win it anymore. The fullback role has also changed a lot since we had Robbo/ Trent effectively doing most of our playmaking.
17 Mar 2025 20:27:02
It’s always the same. We play terribly and the players who are missing grow in importance. Bradley with some energy would have been equally important.
18 Mar 2025 01:00:26
Didn’t Tchouameni say that he didn’t want to come to Liverpool when he chose to go to RM? Personally I’d say he has had his chance with us.
18 Mar 2025 12:28:52
So any one of
Tchouameni
Cammavinga.
Zubimendi.
Wharton.
Anderson.
Out of them I’d go with Cammavinga simply as I have seen ire of him than the others Tchouameni second.
18 Mar 2025 12:43:59
WDW3, his quote is below - not saying that he didn't want to come to Liverpool, but that he really wanted to go to RM as he regards them as the biggest club in world football. Not ideal!
"“The first to come forward was Liverpool, we had discussions. Then Real arrived, ” Tchouameni explained.
“And in my head everything was clear. It was Real and not another.
“It’s the biggest club in the world. If you want to accomplish great things, to mark the history of your sport, there is no better. "

Fair comments re Tchouameni choosing Madrid over us but Salah chose Chelsea over us initially. didn't work out too badly second time around did it! Not saying he'd end up another Salah but let's be real, as much as we all love Liverpool, unless you're a die hard pool fan, it's hard to justify choosing Liverpool over Real Madrid so wouldn't hold it against the lad personally.
Baleba or Wharton for me for the middle although neither would come cheap unfortunately.
