Everyone is quick to criticise Salah record in finals but has anyone seen Henry's record. For me Salah is the greatest player of all time.
{Ed025's Note - hes a very good player in this era Kp99, but not in the top 1,000 of all time great players mate..
22 Mar 2025 20:00:59
Name me 999 better Ed25?.
{Ed025's Note - i dont have that much ink Davey but i will start with...Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo, Messi, Eusabio, Zidane, Bob Latchford........
22 Mar 2025 20:05:29
Not the best of all time king but absolutely a great.
I mean the man reversed a 3 goal lead to the mighty Barcelona by wearing a T-shirt. Utter greatness?.
22 Mar 2025 20:47:12
Salah is a good player but in my opinion the most overrated player of this generation.
We're lucky to have him but equally he's lucky to play for us.
If he was at say Madrid, utd Barca, juventus etc would he have the numbers he does. Id argue he wouldn't.
He's been very fortunate to have the team set up to his strengths and has reaped the rewards on goals and Assists.
22 Mar 2025 21:05:31
oh shut the f*** up walter, your opinion is that of a blind door knob.
22 Mar 2025 21:33:27
Fortunately I also had the privilege to actually watch Henry play. Salah is a great player now, but he doesn't get in the invincibles team.
22 Mar 2025 21:34:15
Most of great players benefitting from the teams that were built around them. I totally disagree with your point, negative.
22 Mar 2025 22:26:41
Depends what you mean by “great”.
Is he technically the best play skill wise? No that was Maradona.
However, Salah has elite durability for a player in his position and playing in the style he plays, he has a great goal record, he has incredible ball control at elite pace.
There are many “great” qualities that Mo Salah has, he’s definitely one of Liverpool’s greatest but not our greatest ever.
22 Mar 2025 23:02:04
Salah is one of the greatest players of the premier league era. There’s maybe only 4 or 5 players who scored more goals than him. He’s one of the greatest to ever play for us. He deserves to be mentioned in the same conversation as Dalglish, Rush, Barnes.
23 Mar 2025 02:30:08
It’s all subjective isn’t it? Goalkeepers or defenders never seem to get a mention when discussing the greatest. Mo would be in the top 30 in my list for the PL era. I’d have Ali in the list too.
22 Mar 2025 23:11:24
That’s 7 Ed.
{Ed025's Note - now you wouldn,t want me to get cramp in my typing finger would you Rigsby?.. :)
23 Mar 2025 05:48:13
Most overrated? Christ on a bike some of the crap spewed in here. Salah is the best attacking player in the premier league during the premier league era. In terms of stats, effectiveness etc.
23 Mar 2025 07:20:52
Sorry, I was meant to say Liverpool’s greatest player of all time. Zidane in my eyes is the greatest of all time.
{Ed025's Note - not in the top ten of that either for me mate..
23 Mar 2025 07:39:01
Salah imo is now in lfc best ever team and that's a hellueva achievement in itself.
{Ed025's Note - there have been a lot of great players over the years wearing that shirt Digger so thats a big call mate..
23 Mar 2025 07:42:05
Absolutely no comparison.
Salah is a great player but John Henry turns up for every final.
Unlike Oli who seems to boycott them out of superfan principal.
23 Mar 2025 11:23:29
Does get in the Invincibles side SirWenger, gets into any side in Premier League history.
23 Mar 2025 12:40:43
Mo is definitely the most impactful winger in English football history. His stats and longevity back it up.
Comparing him to Henry is silly as he was a striker. And yet, Mo will also eclipse his numbers too.
And Mo has done this against faster, stronger defenders than in history against teams that have far better technical coaches than previous eras.
23 Mar 2025 13:35:28
Thàts a fair point Pelican, the centrehalfs today are a lot more athletic than the players Henry outpaced for fun back then. He would still stand out pace-wise today but back then it was like having Usain Bolt upfront.
23 Mar 2025 19:15:43
John Barnes was better than Salah.
{Ed025's Note - i think so too Mark..
23 Mar 2025 19:32:03
Never get the buzz for Maradona as best of all time. He was caught doping. Which for me puts him in the Lance Armstrong category. Pele, Zidane, Cruyff, Michael Laudrup, Messi, Virgil all on a different level.
Salah is great, but I am not sure he beats Kenny, Rush and Barnes in all the time LFC front three.
Barnes was ravaged by injuries, but was quite something in turning himself from a rampaging Henry style winger into a deep-lying playmaker in his 30s.
24 Mar 2025 01:00:25
Monster, I'm not sure you can compare Maradona's doping to Armstrong's. LOL
One was performance enhancing, the other was getting off his tits!
24 Mar 2025 08:02:19
Wouldnt disagree Mark, loved Barnes! Best player in the country by a mile at his peak. Salah still gets in our alltime team alongside him though.
24 Mar 2025 08:50:48
Potclay, maradona failed drug tests for performance enhancing drugs too (ephedrine) .
24 Mar 2025 18:59:11
Mo at his peak was probably the best inside forward I’ve seen live, and John Barnes would be the best winger.
So many great centre forwards. Torres was almost unplayable for a few years as was Suarez, and of course Robbie Fowler. They all slightly fall short of Ian Rush who was brilliant over such a long period of time.
24 Mar 2025 20:12:32
Maradona was the greatest before he got involved in recreational drugs whilst at Barcelona which accelerated at Napoli.
His ephedrine use was at USA 94 where he was trying to get fit. No doubt he failed the test fair and square but that had no impact on his natural genius.
