With the Trent news now confirmed by everyone, who are we looking at to replace him? . Weve known he's been gone for ages to wondered who we have lined up? .

I am disappointed in the club but also Trent too, boyhood club and future captain gone but then again he only has to bother four games a season for real and can sit on the beach the rest of the time or play golf.

Agree4 Disagree0

Confirmed by who exactly?

Until its someone reliable like Ed001 I'll keep my fingers crossed!

The rebuilding has begun and I can't wait. Good luck to Trent at Real Madrid.

Four games a season, then sit on the beach or play golf.
Please explain?

Nathlfc, this is the clubs fault. Eds have explained that 18 months ago he was ready to sign, but no offer was forthcoming. The club have mishandled it and given him a decision to make. Good luck to him, I just hope we do good business this window.

No doubt about it that his Liverpool legacy will not be the same. But he did us proud all the same.

I'm finding it gutting as it's coming to fruition now.

I'm not sure who the stand out RB out there is but my feeling is we go for Frimpong. Very different in style with him also having some defensive frailty. I do however believe that Frimpong has a very high ceiling. Not sure I ve seen many other names mentioned in the media for RB but that's not to say they are not out there.

I think it's absolutely clear now this summer is going to be huge. Probably biggest since FSG took over.

First we see what Hughes can do and bring in.
We'll debate the success/ failure immediately of course but we won't fully know until the end of next season.

Then we'll see what we have in hughes.

No blame on Arnold. If those who are responsible for these things within the club and ownership left it too late and could neither make a financial or broader project offer to Arnold to persuade him he could achieve his ambitions here then it’s on them. That’s where the fault lies, not with the player. If he leaves, they effed around and found out.

Think he would have had to majorly develop his leadership skills for future captain - you can’t be given the captain arm band through a condition in a contract - in no way does Trent scream LFC captain. That’s nothing against him but if you look at Gerrard, look at Hendo with what opposition players have come out and said how Hendo was on the field, Trent doesn’t look like captain material, just because you might be the best player in a team (not saying that’s the case) and a local lad doesn’t mean you have a right to be captain. You look at the games where fans have said “does he look interested” “head is elsewhere” that’s not captain standards - I maybe wrong but I can’t think of a game where he has stood up when we have been down and said follow me lads like how Stevie did on so many occasions.

If he is going to Madrid, so be it - good luck to him, the team is always bigger than the player and I will always want him to do well, except if against LFC. As long as the club learn from this and prevent losing players on free’s in the future.

He is a special talent but still has some real gaps - it won’t all be sunshine and rainbows at RM if he goes they will demand a lot from him, hope he can step up.

Rather than looking at the glass half empty I am excited about replacing trent with a solid player who can defend and attack and we can become more creative in other areas of the pitch, since 21/ 22 he is not that assist machine although his passing is class he is not irreplaceable.

Massively disappointing. in the club to an extent yes, but much more in Trent for me. I know people will disagree but that's just the way i see it. Makes Steven gerrard an even bigger legend for me.

Not sure if anyone else has ever been on a fixed term contract of employment, but imagine you are on a 12 month contract Jan to Dec.

Every year the company renews those most valuable and who they wish to keep.

You see all those around you renewing come August.

September passes and nothing.

October, a couple more renew.

November and your starting to look around and wonder if you are actually valued. Do they want you to stay? Has all you have put in been recognised and appreciated? You know what i will have a look around to see who else is employing as i need a job.

November comes and a market competitor puts an amazing offer in your inbox. They see your ability, they share your drive and ambition, it means relocating but it is to a much nicer location.

December comes and your about to be out of employment and your current company approaches you. What do you say?

What part of any of this is your doing? What blame have you for entertaining other offers?

Now apply the same logic to Trent.

Cant Red, Lfc could offer me a contract on 29th june at a minute to midnight and i would sign it so the timing of the contract offer means nothing to me. And let's face it there has been a contract on the table for months now. its meant to"mean more"to him as we were continually told but let's face it the minute a major club were seriously interested he's off to his buddy jude, and that club are only interested because they are getting him for a steal.

Thing is Florian, you’re looking at it through the optics of being a fan. If you’re a professional footballer your career is relatively short, so I can only think that Arnold would have looked at our previous lack of investment in the squad, our previous failure to capitalise on our position when we were at the top, a squad which the star players are ageing and not having their contracts resolved, multiple transfer failures for top targets (Bellingham, Caicedo, Zubimendi etc), then asked who we were going to go for this summer and concluded that his ambitions are more likely to be fulfilled at Madrid, who could guarantee that he was playing alongside the best, who would guarantee that there’d be regular investment in the squad and could almost guarantee titles every year. That’s a hard proposition to turn down.

Like you, I’d not think for a second, but neither of us are in his position as professional footballers with maybe four of five good years left in our career.

If only Trent leaves out of the three, most pressing concern in the next transfer window must be a deep-lying playmaker. Basically same as it was last summer. With Trent gone we are losing passing range and creativity from the deep.

25 Mar 2025 15:02:24
He's leaving the champions of England Victor, has every chance to win everything here. AGAIN.

25 Mar 2025 15:06:16
And since trent turned pro real have won ONE more league title than us.

Players have all the power these days when it comes to contracts. Love what he’s done for us, great player, seemingly good man, don’t blame him for taking the money, the lifestyle and the prestige. I don’t think it’s a failing of the club. We can pay, what we can pay. If he feels it isn’t proportionate to his talent, then he’s every right to seek a better deal elsewhere. It’s just modern football. Good luck to him, like I said when Coutinho left though, sometimes the grass isn’t always greener. But, when your rolling around in money you probably don’t care all that much.

25 Mar 2025 20:55:40
I’d love TAA to stay, Does he have a debt to the club? yes in the sense they have nurtured the talent gave him a path to reach his levels, has he repaid the debt? yes, his been part of a squad that has won every honour a club team can, Will his legacy be damaged? Yes in the sense of a potential future statue warranting legend if he stayed and was part of more success. Do I think negatively in a relatively short playing life having won what he has with us to experience playing for Madrid, no, I’d rather he wouldn’t but can’t blame someone for personal ambition. I can live with any outcome personally by TAA…. what pains me is allowing him to go for free, trying not to imagine what his potential transfer fee would bring in, but that's not his fault that's the powers that be, would Real be signing him if the fee was £150M maybe not. But lastly and not to be overlooked there's talking to and agreeing terms with Real M, but its another putting pen to paper, and until that happen and it hasn’t up until that pen hits a contract he can change his mind, and as he jas yet to sign for them or stay I would imagine his not made up his mind up yet himself either.

Just read and didn’t realise that Trent’s brother is his agent and is on for a massive payday?
