I do not think we will see Trent play in a Liverpool uniform again. Opinions Ed001, Ed0025?

{Ed025's Note - I suspect you are right KC. But I hope he makes it onto the parade bus mate because he deserves to having been a big part of this campaign. I just hope we don’t get nutters booing him or stuff like that..

It would be a very sad way for trent to go out. he's played a long time with us and if we do win the league and do it in front of fans it should be 1 of best days of his career.
Even tho I blame club mostly for letting it get to this stage trent also has to except that if he's made his bed he now has to sleep in it and I think his reception at the end will be muted. i certainly wouldn't be booing him but I wouldn't be shouting from the rafters for him either.

01 Apr 2025 07:17:39
He might play for the legends.

01 Apr 2025 07:30:16
I hope not, even though he has contributed already I would like to see him go out style. Getting a few goals or assists to get us over the line.

01 Apr 2025 09:07:32
If he’s back at the end of April it could already all be over in terms of the title race and also in terms of him being a Liverpool player, my view is that if he’s signed for them he doesn’t deserve to walk back into the team. It feels like it would be an unnecessary circus. I’d also begrudge him taking part in the celebrations, he should quietly slip off to Madrid and never come back. Don’t want to hear from him again.

01 Apr 2025 10:32:37
He hasn’t signed for anybody yet @Vic. If he had it would have been announced.

01 Apr 2025 10:41:45
I still don't get why some folks are so vindictive towards Trent, sure it's not a great look that he has always been so vocal about being a Liverpool fan and that he counts himself among us, that it means more to him than anything playing for us, but it's not like his head has been elsewhere since the beginning of the season and he's just strolling through games, he's worked as hard as anyone in a red shirt for pretty much every game this year. I get people being upset (these being the same people who would insist that we don't need him anyway and good riddance) that he's leaving but saying he doesn't deserve to celebrate with a title win that he has contributed to as much as anyone and with the city that he's grown up in knowing how much it means to everyone? I don't understand that personally.

01 Apr 2025 10:47:26
He has made his bed.
He has destabilised us enough so shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the squad.
Let's move on and get Bradley fit.

01 Apr 2025 11:11:35
If Trent is fit, he should play. Even if he is leaving, I don’t think anyone can doubt his importance and attitude towards the team. I actually think it is sad if people boo and jeer him, he has lived his dream and won everything possible with the club. I don’t want him to go, but the club stalled in contract offers and Real Madrid swooped in, it is not like he is leaving for a premier league rival and I think Madrid are the one club he would consider leaving us for. We should celebrate these last few months with him and hopefully title success…Suarez was a s**t yet is adored, so we as a fan base should stop the double standards and remember the club ethos of YNWA!

01 Apr 2025 11:23:21
This hatred towards Trent is getting out of hand. Yes it is frustrating he maybe moving on and Liverpool won't receive a fee. But to suggest he should never play for the club again is outrageous. Then to claim he should not take part in any possible celebrations is petty. He has contributed as much as any player since his debut for Liverpool. Am I sad to see him leave, of course. But let's be grateful that we had a player of his ability to represent our wonderful team.

01 Apr 2025 11:00:12
ED25. I disagree. hope he doesn't get on the parade. he is negotiating a way out of Liverpool on a free, while we are trying to get the title over the line. when will people stop applauding people who have only their own interests at heart . bemusing.

{Ed025's Note - but he has been part of that title winning side Strom. I think he has every right to be involved mate..

01 Apr 2025 12:28:03
Look at what he's contributed to the club in his time, if he goes he goes if he stays happy days, but to say he shouldn't be involved in title celebrations is bal@@x,

01 Apr 2025 12:28:13
The hate Trent gets is is unreal. The two aren't mutually exclusive. While he may have been negotiating a contract with RM, it is within the current rules and he isn't doing anything wrong. He has also been a key cog in our pursuit of the PL again this year, unless people are suggesting that we played better with him not in the team.

He has not forced himself out of the club in anyway either. It's not like he faked an injury (Coutinho), bit or attacked another player (Suarez), handed in a transfer request on deadline window day (Torres), or announced that he was leaving a day before a CL final (Mane) . And yet, those four players are more welcomed than Trent is right now. It is unreal to me that we would begrudge him celebrating if we won the PL just because he signed for another team. Pettiness comes to mind.

01 Apr 2025 12:47:11
Agree with ED Trent has been a huge part of us being where we are this season. He is still a Liverpool player and 100% deserves the celebrations, the bus tour and everything that comes with. The only thing I would say or agree with is if he does/ has signed to leave and we have say last 3 games to go, I'd play Bradley ahead because he is our future and we should put club and team ahead at that point.

01 Apr 2025 13:28:35
Gmil . look what we've gave him nevermind what he done for the club . he should be on his knees thanking us for making him into a footballer in the 1st place nevermond sneaking out the backdoor.

01 Apr 2025 15:04:20
Wow dracred. them players you mentioned are all foreign players with no connection to us . Trent is a Scouser. big massive difference. If people still think he is some kind of hero n throw flowers at his feet like he some sort of saviour for us, world like some ppl,

01 Apr 2025 15:35:41
It would be a bit awkward for him though wouldn’t it? Being on the bus celebrating with the team when he’s about to jump ship?

I still think he’ll stay anyway he’s just seeing what his options are with Madrid but when push comes to shove he’ll choose to stay at Liverpool. If he wasn’t even considering it he would’ve signed for Madrid by now and Marca would be shouting it from the rooftops.

01 Apr 2025 17:06:48
If he goes for free he has deliberately put his own interests first. If you are completely selfish and self centred don’t expect most supporters to continue to support you. Selfish actions have consequences.

01 Apr 2025 12:55:14
Nah Ed 25 Doesn't matter . he is a Scouser but the worst type of Scouser in my eyes . just like Macmanaman. doesn't give a toss about the club . if he did he would have signed a short term contract so we got a decent fee . people say he been a great servant
. I look it the other way n say Liverpool was the making of him. who is to say he would have made in anywhere else or been as applauded as much. we overlook all his deficiencies in defense because he can pass a ball, n he from the city. but people esp on here say good luck to him . most. people i know are not saying that.

{Ed025's Note - players dont have the same affiliation with their club as the rest of us Strom, its just a job to most of them mate and like in every profession its about getting to the pinnacle, of course some see it differently but for me he may have stayed a year or two too long and should have moved when you could have received a fee for him, but thats not down to him its down to the powers that be at the club who should have insisted he signed a new contact or be put on the transfer list

01 Apr 2025 13:44:14
Ed025 unfortunately as you know there are nutters in every club and ours will definitely appear just to boo him.

{Ed025's Note - i really hope not Barry as for me it would sour a great day in the history of the club mate, if he does go its thanks and you move on for me, he has still contributed majorly so should be applauded just like the rest of them..

01 Apr 2025 19:33:00
Ed, so you mean If trent had left in january, he should be welcomed in the parade as well cause he contributed for the first 20 games?

{Ed025's Note - no mate he would not be a liverpool player then when they won it, he will still be a Liverpool player when you win this one though..

01 Apr 2025 20:16:32
Jeez why is everyone so bitter?

Everyone always says a local lad should be loyal blah blah but where were those people when the club sold flanaghan, coady etc. they were local lads. Why didn't you demand the club keep them on the payroll for their entire career?

Truth is people aren't really bothered about him being local or not. It's just rejection making people react this way. You feel rejected by Trent in the same way you would if you asked a girl for her number and she said no.

Trent worked hard to help win us every trophy possible, he's earned it.

I don't recall anyone saying klopp shouldn't be part of any celebrations even though he forced his way out and we had to pay him out as well.

We aren't the bitter side of Liverpool, let's not act like it.

YNWA (or does it only apply some of the time? )

01 Apr 2025 20:23:45
@Theslotmachine in what way is the club destabilised?

@Markp - are you suggesting that TAA should put fans’ interest ahead of his own and his family’s interests? Do you ever think about what you are writing in the context of the real world?

01 Apr 2025 21:00:28
Ed025 there is no need for him to leave we are one of the best teams in the world and I know for most players it’s a job but most players don’t get to play for the team they say they loved and supported. He is a selfish the ballon d’Or interview proved that I don’t know any player apart from him that would put that over winning the World Cup. I don’t care that he is going and I don’t think Slot is too I don’t think he fits perfectly with his style but I can’t stand the way he has orchestrated his move it shows no love or respect for the club or fans who have supported him through thick and thin. It’s the worst kept secret in football and he does not have enough respect for the fans to come out and say he is going so why should we give him anymore support. There is a right way and a wrong way he has chosen the wrong way to go about it.

{Ed025's Note - it has certainly divided the supporters Grino, myself i just see it as modern day football mate and its all about the coin, loyalty is a thing of the past i would say so in the end it is just what it is, there is no place for hatred though imo..

01 Apr 2025 21:40:37
Who mentioned supporters WDW97? Stop making things up

01 Apr 2025 21:23:36
I agree there is no need for hatred in anything Ed but you can’t do what he is doing then expect the fans to show him the same love as they did it’s not as if he needs the extra money. I can remember you pointing that out about Henderson when he left for Saudi and with the money the club have offered to him Ed there is definitely no need to go.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think its a need Grino...more of a want mate..

02 Apr 2025 04:08:59
To be fair @Mark you mentioned supporters. So the answer to the question you raised is you.

If you go back and read what you actually wrote (I appreciate it’s an arduous task, so thanks in advance) you did specifically say “he has deliberately put his own interests first” followed by “ … don’t expect most supporters to support you”.

To me it seemed a reasonable assumption to make that you thought / think that he should put the interests of the supporters before his own.

02 Apr 2025 16:33:41
For me on the Trent stuff, it should just be 'Bye'.

Respect what he's done, cut affiliation and best of luck to the lad. He would be nothing to do with us.

I don't understand anyone who would be bitter, boo him but on the flip side I don't get anyone defending him and lauding him.

The moment he puts on that white shirt, he's just another player in world football, another galactico and another rival.

02 Apr 2025 17:26:33
Yep time to say goodbye. Nothing more nothing less. I feel the Anfield crowd will applaud him. I think most of the people suggesting booing him are internet trolls and wouldn’t do the things they say in person.
