Read the rumour we might be in for Takefusa Kubo from Sociedad if they don’t get into European competition.
€50m release clause.
I’d definitely pay that. Hope this rumour is true.

Japanese Harvey Elliot.
04 Apr 2025 09:21:47
And I love Harvey Elliot and want him to play, so my point is that let's use him instead.
04 Apr 2025 09:26:49
I'm a massive fan of the player so I would love for this to be true, but I'm not sure he solves many of the problems we have besides offering outstanding pace and athleticism in the attacking third. He plays on the right wing and he is pretty one footed so can't really play on the other wing. That being said, he often drifts into central positions for la real and effectively occupies the number 10 position a lot of the time, though I wouldn't start him in the middle because he's most dangerous receiving the ball out wide. He's also not much of a goalscorer, but is a decent crosser of the ball.
Elite one on one player with explosive pace from a standing start, but he offers very little physical presence off the ball and will probably be bullied in duels, which is a problem area that we have to address in the first place.

Kurt, I’d disagree with your view there with a couple of important differences - Kubo is left footed, Harvey right and Kubo is fast, faster than Harvey and close to Mo.
I love Harvey too, but he can’t replace Mo for those 2 reasons, Kubo can.
{Ed001's Note - Elliott is left footed Zed.}
04 Apr 2025 10:08:51
Both left footed, faster than Harvey but i'd harvey down as a better player allround.
04 Apr 2025 10:09:31
Wow, is he really Ed001?! I never noticed, always assumed he was right footed!
Makes me look a bit of a tit, and not for the first time!
I know that you have said you rate Kubo in the past, how would you compare him to Elliot, Ed001/.
{Ed001's Note - different types of players and Elliott is not really suited to a wide right role in the Prem. He is more of a playmaker. I wouldn't really compare the two as Kubo is very much at his best out wide, though I am not convinced he is all that quick either. I would rather give Elliott the shot though, if I was picking between them.}
04 Apr 2025 10:10:46
Zed, Kubo is not that fast either. Not much faster than Harvey. Perhaps a little bit not a difference making amount.
Wouldn't be my choice for LW. Prefer Harvey.
04 Apr 2025 10:34:57
Kubo is a technically excellent right winger. I think he'd get kicked from pillar to post in the Premier League.
I disagree about him being athletic and quick. He's definitely quick off the mark and has a low centre of gravity to change direction. But he's not quick over distance.
Spanish and German leagues suit him better.
04 Apr 2025 10:38:07
I’m not sure Kubo is the answer however I don’t think Harvey is either. Both lack real pace and goal threat if they are to occupy the Salah position. Admittedly the RW position is difficult to fill if your looking for a like for like Salah replacement or back up as the case may be but surely pure pace is a prerequisite?
04 Apr 2025 11:15:35
I think Harveys problem is that he is not fast enough to play on the wing and his lack of physicality (and pace) mean that he doesn't really fit into our current midfield which already lacks strength. If we brought in a strong/ powerful midfielder that could sit alongside Grav (or even Macca) then we might be able to give Elliot more minutes without worrying about losing the midfield battle.
04 Apr 2025 11:44:29
How we replace Salah will depend on what type of no9 we go for too.
04 Apr 2025 11:45:26
Yeah, the way we play, pace is so important. If Kubo isn't that person, maybe Frimpong would be a good shout to help push 2 positions - Bradley at RB and Mo at RW.
04 Apr 2025 14:50:51
Frimpong is ideal.
04 Apr 2025 18:07:51
The fact that we have people in the same thread praising his pace as people criticising his pace tells me at least of you have never seen the kid play.
04 Apr 2025 19:04:35
Mbeumo is the man. Year left on his contract. Play on the right or up front. Similar deal to when we signed Jota.
04 Apr 2025 21:45:52
You can’t “replace Salah” with any player currently playing.
In my opinion Kubo is a player who can ‘play that position in Slot’s team’. I don’t think Harvey can. I think Harvey is an attacking central midfielder.
Mbuemo would be another good option, I don’t know if he’s available though.
05 Apr 2025 15:01:57
Love Harv, but he may not be right for this manager and system it appears. He also lacks elite speed and athleticism as times. Still young and likely a better fit elsewhere.
Slot will need to bring in his guys now to improve squad depth/ player management if LFC want to truly compete for multiple trophies a year without wearing down his top 15 players like they have.
06 Apr 2025 08:51:07
I think Harvey could have a chance playing a Bobbie type role, eye for goal and clever link up play in congested areas.
