Ed1 Now that Salah and VVD have signed (VVD shortly) do you think the club will make one more attempt with a contract offer to Trent or do you think that ship has sailed and while Trent has not said anything publicly the club know privately he is going to Madrid? I know people are saying his "mind isn't maid up yet" but before he's apparently declined the clubs offers of a new contract he must have made a decision on his future by now.
{Ed001's Note - I really don't know mate. Nothing is being said from Trent's side at all.}
11 Apr 2025 09:57:54
I suppose until he’s signed for Madrid the door is always open for him to stay.
11 Apr 2025 10:00:38
Cynically speaking, the club will want to make it known that there was a massive offer on the table even if Trent leaves to show that w did everything we could. So, don't be surprised to hear of an offer that might be more than the Real wage terms (not including the signing on fee of course) .
Real are not the only club with a well-oiled propaganda machine.
11 Apr 2025 11:00:11
When the news broke, I'll admit I fell for the noise of him leaving but now I am not so sure.
Was it just the real madrid PR machine in over drive hoping to put some pressure on? Trent has said nothing and I don't think he will until its confirmed either way.
11 Apr 2025 11:17:57
WY I don’t think it’s that otherwise Trent would have come out and said it’s not true his silence speaks enough. He has just been keeping tight lipped wasting the clubs time with negotiations as his mind was made up probably as soon as Klopp said he was leaving if not earlier. He just was trying to avoid the backlash I don’t think we see Trent in a red shirt again as hopefully before he is fit the title is done and dusted and I don’t think him playing again will bring a good response from the fans once he announces he is off.
{Ed001's Note - grino he said from the start that he would not comment.}

Hopefully the club learns their lessons from this contract situation. Very happy Salah has signed now VVD! Trent, who knows, I think he is conflicted tbh, and why wouldn’t he be?
11 Apr 2025 11:38:24
In negotiations the last thing you want to do is make it clear you are staying. You lose all negotation power.
I worked with a guy in his 50's who made it clear he was staying until retirment but then complained they never listened to his attempts at a pay increase.
Maybe there is a final twist in the tale, but 2 out of 3 is a lot better then 0 out of 3 so if trent does stay. That'll be the cherry on the top!
11 Apr 2025 12:12:57
I always thought Joshua Kimmich would be a better Real fit, but Real with their defensive issues signing Trent would be interesting. Hope he stays as he is special but when he has a day off he is bad.
11 Apr 2025 12:13:23
I personally think Trent will be playing for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup. I reckon they'll offer a token fee to get him out f his contract early.
11 Apr 2025 13:11:34
I believe Trent is saying nothing until either we have won league or end of season so doesn’t get wrath of some so called fans. I’d be amazed if he doesn’t go to RM as that is only reason he hasn’t accepted any potential offers from us.
Good luck to the young man. He’s served Liverpool brilliantly for 20 years - he’s not a slave. And an amazing opportunity to try a different culture and climate. He’s hardly joining a terrible club either.
11 Apr 2025 14:02:44
So called fans because they don't agree with what you think a nice little fan should be. If a fan feels aggrieved at the Trent fiasco, either at the club or the player that's their perogative.
11 Apr 2025 14:42:10
Just because Trent is keeping quiet to us and the media doesn't mean that he's not talking to the club. The club would have been made aware of his thoughts on the matter from day 1. We are kept in the dark but I don't imagine that the club are. It'll be helpful if we don't conflate the two.
And if a deal has already been agreed between him and RM, they would have shouted about it from the rooftops. There is no way that club would keep it quiet out of respect for Trent or for us. So the very fact that all parties (Trent, Liverpool, and RM) are quiet about it tells me that nothing is confirmed.

Everyone expected Salah and Virgil to sign and all the noise is Trent is leaving. Trent knew he was leaving like I said earlier this is just because he knows the backlash will come and he wants to be as far away as possible to avoid it. I hope am wrong and Trent leaves but i don’t believe he will and as a fan I would respect him more if he was truthful and came out and told the fans rather than stringing them along like there is a chance he stays.
{Ed001's Note - I don't know where you get this nonsense from. Until a few months ago everyone expected Salah to go, then I explained he wanted to stay and the problem was just the length of contract and suddenly the media stopped pumping out stories he was looking to leave. But at one point everyone was claiming Salah was going and all the noise was that he was leaving.
The noise is just that, noise. We will find out when the pair of them sign a deal with us or someone else. Even then, all we will know for sure is who they will play for next season.}

Salah was always going to stay. There wasn’t one credible story from another club saying they were pursuing Salah. Trent is a completely different situation, it’s been non stop Madrid stories.
In addition Salah and VVD have repeatedly said this year how much they love the club, the City and the fans.
Trent is different.
11 Apr 2025 21:04:39
Ed001 I did not expect Salah to go Ed he was trying to get a deal he wanted he was quite open about it. The talk about him leaving was just click bait same goes for Virgil and if they did go then I would have said it was a club decision to move in a new direction but with how they have both performed this season that would have been a massive risk by the club. Given Salah and Virgil two year deal is a no lose situation because if there legs did start to go Saudi would still take both of them in a heartbeat. I get you want to support the players till the end but Trent have planned his move away for a long time it’s obvious and I truly believe we won’t see him play again for the club until he has retired and comes back to play in legends games. Unfortunately after the way he has engineered this Move that is something he will not be remembered for and if you look back at my post I’ve always stuck up for Trent when people have called him out for his defending so am not one with an axe to grind I just think if he wanted to move and try something new he could have been honest and moved before his contract was up but maybe Madrid did not want him enough to pay a big fee as they seem to be doing transfer like this more and more.

@Mark - that made me laugh out loud, funniest post in a good while, thank you.
11 Apr 2025 22:41:04
Salah and VvD only ever wanted Liverpool. Not sure what’s funny about that.
It’s actually horrific that Trent wants out so badly.
12 Apr 2025 06:53:42
It depends one’s awareness of irony. I’ll go back and re-read the posts since the end of last season @Mark.
The ideas that ‘he wants to stay’, ‘he wants to leave’ have popped in and out of favour a number of times. The idea that he definitely always wanted to stay, put forward a day or so after he signed a contract, has a certain comic value.
12 Apr 2025 07:06:10
Also meant to say that the idea that ‘he always wanted to stay’ is pretty naive. He always wanted to stay provided that he got what he wanted, or was prepared to accept, would be more accurate. Not saying his approach was a bad thing by the way.
As someone currently working as a contractor you have a figure that you want and provided you can negotiate what you find acceptable (which isn’t necessarily what you want) then you tend to stay where you are. Sounds like Mo’s situation to me.
One final thought, the club announcing the re-signing of Mo, the first of the three to make an actual decision, puts a little bit of pressure on the other two. Given that VVD seems set to sign a new contract in the next few days Trent’s resolve and character will be sorely tested. If 2 stay and the 3rd one still decides to go, the epsilons with the pitchforks will become even more vocal vilifying the ‘traitor’.
12 Apr 2025 08:42:11
I always said they would sign. The facts are now that the main 2 have signed.
The local lad has not.
12 Apr 2025 10:37:07
There must be someone to blame/ slag if Trent decides to try another country and culture.
Simple coping mechanism.
12 Apr 2025 10:54:43
Real Madrid beaten by Liverpool beaten by valencia beaten by Arsenal and behind Barcelona in league . Think about it Trent team going forward LFC and a team looking in decline? And 40 year old still playing even though he was world class.
12 Apr 2025 15:19:38
Salah new 2 year contract . Saka 2 years remaining on his contract.
Let me dream :)
13 Apr 2025 00:06:58
@Mark, it isn’t a fact that two have signed. One has and the second is likely sooner rather than later. And my most sincere apologies I must have missed all of the posts were you said they would sign. ???.
