Hi Eds. Hope you're all good.
Some noise occurring about LFC's interest in Wharton increasing today. Have you heard anything to back this up?
Much appreciated.
{Ed001's Note - nothing sorry.}
01 May 2025 21:33:06
Id rather Wharton than Elliott in Slots squad, personally.
01 May 2025 22:09:22
I'd rather Isak than Kelleher.
01 May 2025 22:18:29
Point is, their values are not as extremely different as CKs and Isaks.
01 May 2025 22:30:23
Elliott can do anything Wharton can. He would cost an absolute shed load too.
01 May 2025 23:05:32
My point is they play different positions. I don't really see how Elliott comes into a Wharton discussion unless you think Elliott is a DM or Wharton is an AM.
I think it more likely affects Endo's future.
But if money is your comparison factor, that's fair enough. i didn't pick that up initially.
I really like Elliott though. I really hope we keep him, hence the reaction. But I guess no point if Slots not going to play him. I hope that would change. At least Slot should gove him the chance in these final games to play for his Liverpool future.
01 May 2025 23:06:12
So if we sold Elliott he'd go for the same as Wharton seeing as he can do the same?
02 May 2025 06:24:33
I’d be staggered if we spent a huge sum on someone like Wharton. Who would he displace out of Grav or Macca? If you’re spending 80-100mil, they’d better be a starter surely?!
02 May 2025 07:14:44
The big question is, will Slot depend solely on Grav in that position next season or will he bring in a Baleba, the guy from Atalanta or a wharton? Zubi was the top target for a reason, and whilst Grav has been a revelation, he was overworked, and soemtimes lacked a steeliness that can be required in the prem.
Elliott does not look like a Slot type player, for various reasons, and surely, those who do not fit the system and style will be used to generate funds.
02 May 2025 07:39:14
Of course I am saying this in hindsight, but it would have been a considerable negative if we had bought zubimendi, as excellent of a player as he is, to play the majority of games at the expense of gravenberch this season.
It's not like zubimendi really has the steel you desire, either, rather he performs the same functions as gravenberch does, receiving in tight spaces and turning to move the ball through the lines, though he is a better progressive passer at different distances but also not nearly as athletic and probably can't cover space vacated by full backs as well as grav can.

100% Wharton improves our team, just watch him to see that.
02 May 2025 08:13:56
It's a shame if we do lose Harvey, he loves the club and never causes unrest within the team.
Imo you don't just lose on the pitch but also in training.
The kid has an infectious attitude and is always happy in his work. When he comes off the bench he gives us something different and lifts other players around him.
i know he doesn't have all the attributes of a word class player but he has heart. You cannot train heart into a player. Also him being around the team every day will benefit his all around game.
Not every great footballer is over 6ft and runs like the wind .
I just hope slot sees his value and keeps him within that squad even if it is just as energy to see out games, the kid also has a good eye for goal.
As long as the machine is greater than it's individual parts we wii be happy 9 times out of 10.
02 May 2025 08:20:32
Higher profile expensive players are not coming to LFC to play behind Gravenberch. I would look for a Endo level replacement to come in if they decide the solution is not in house ie Baj, Morton, Nyoni, McConnell, etc. we are not the 115 charges club or Chelsea.
02 May 2025 11:17:16
Arsenal and City set the bar for English midfielders at £100m and Palace will have that as their starting point, can’t see Wharton signing for us any time soon, he ends up at City, Chelsea or United.
02 May 2025 11:19:35
Vango - it isn’t a big question because SLOT directly answered it.
He chooses not to rotate GK, CB or DM - not because he doesn’t have option but because he thinks the defensive core does the least running and needs cohesion.
He rotates FB, 8’s and forwards as he likes to keep them sharp (bar Mo who is a one off) .
So the question is answered.
02 May 2025 12:52:52
Arsenal and City paid the money that other clubs demanded, the other clubs set the bat. You could argue that Nice is turning out to be value for money - at least every now and then, but City just wasted their money.
The number doesn’t matter anyway, it’s just a bit of a psychological thing. A bit like the first player to earn £199 a week back in the early 60’s or Trevor Francis being the 1st £1m signing in the 70’s. I’m happy with Liverpool buying Endo at £16m for the midfielder - the right player at the right process.
I’d be happy if the club paid £100m+ for a player if they think he’s a good fit, which they will do sooner rather than later.

What is Slot type player? Im just curious.
02 May 2025 14:03:51
Firstly: in no way are Elliott and Wharton interchangeable, they do entirely different jobs.
Harvey is a great lad, great player and deserves to play for a club that could use him:
Spurs, Brentford, Bournemouth etc…would all play him in nearly every game. He’d really suit Fulham ironically.
For us, nope. He can’t cover Mo. That’s just a fact. He can’t cover Dom and we have Curtis to cover Mac10. Slot loves Dom in that role because of his running. He literally covers the ground. Harvey can’t.
I hope I’m wrong and Slot has a secret plan to play an out and out no.10 - but he won’t.
Harvey and Darwin are the most likely to leave imo.

Agree with many of the comments. We love Harvey and hope he will stay as a squad player. Unfortunately though as cover for Salah he lacks too much pace, better suited to a #10 roaming role but again lack of pace and engine would see him struggle for starting positions. Wharton is more of a deeper midfielder which we desperately need whether it's for improvement, rotation or competition. No I don't know if he's the best choice but he's worth considering imo.
02 May 2025 17:02:03
Sooner see all of jota nunez gomez and Jones go before losing Harvey. Maybe a bit harsh on Jones but harvey will end up a much better player overall.
02 May 2025 18:52:25
Totally agree harvey has a higher ceiling than Jones and never let's anyone down when coming on doesn't give the ball away and opens game up he's the type 10 we missing when teams sit in don't slow game down as much as Jones.
02 May 2025 20:57:50
Why0why - Yes and Grav is exhausted by his own admissions and if Slit wants to go for both competitions next season, we will need a rotation option that he trusts more than Endo.
03 May 2025 12:33:30
Vango. We won the league in April.
Players will get tired. That’s the nature of football. But we won the league in April.
The manager, who knows his onions, will not rotate (in PL games and CL major games) his keeper, his CB’s, his six or Mo. That means a max of about 48 games in a long season.
You should trust the coach lad, he’s better at this that you.
