Hi Eds. Heard an interesting rumour about our own Chiesa that he's known as 'Sleepy Chiesa' due to suffering from sleep issues. Apparently this was not disclosed at his medical and has had an affect on his abilities to make the first team. Hope for his sake this is not true as I like what I see of the lad.
Any truth in this Eds?
{Ed001's Note - I have not heard anything about this and not sure what you are even talking about that could possibly affect his place in the team.}

Lack of sleep effects performance and recovery. He always looks super wired to me though, his eyes are always very wide when they show him on the bench.

Medical information like this should be private and not public unless the player wishes it otherwise.

I’ve heard the bigger problem is that he lives in the woods with 6 of his mates and some girl.
{Ed025's Note - love it Flidby..

Bet that’s a short story.

I think this rumour can be put to bed ……. Sorry ?.

Probably get shot down for this one but, wouldn’t mind seeing Chiesa playing as a false nine for the last few games of the season. I think his style of play is not dissimilar to Gianfranco Zola. I’m not saying he’s as good as Zola but he is technically very good and has good dribbling skills. I’d like to see him play in the centre with Salah on the right and gakpo or Nunez on the left.
Imagine if Nunez started scoring goals because Chiesa has the football intelligence to provide quality balls/ assists.

Before I duck my head back below the parapet it’s just occurred to me having compared him to Zola he could have a similar style and effect on the team as a certain Peter Beardsley did in the late 80s.

I don't think lack of quality balls was Nunez problem, was the more the fact he couldn't hit a barn door.

Chiesa is a proper baller and he needs a chance to show it. He is a goal or assist every game player.

Has anyone thought Chiesa just isn’t that good anymore?
Do we think a pragmatic and excellent coach would simply waste a resource? Do people feel they know better than the blokes who watch him train week in week out?
03 May 2025 14:26:27
WhyoWhy, the coach also doesn't play Elliot very much so is he also "just not good anymore"? Or is it simply that Slot prefers a much smaller group of players to utilize so very few others do or will get a look in?

I don't for one second believe that chiesa isn't good anymore, watch the game against Brentford where Darwin scored two at the end and see what a difference he made when he came on with Harvey, he might not be as blisteringly quick before but he has a quick footballing mind and has the instinct to always be at the heart of the play as it develops. Slot needs his 9 and 10 to do very specific things and chiesa might not be able to do those things optimally at this point in time, and he was probably never going to dislodge mo at any point, so it has been hard for him. I think with another preseason he will be up to speed if he wants to stay.

Yes. McGoveb, exactly.
Harvey Elliott is not a good fit for Liverpool with this manager. Chiesa has shown very little when given an opportunity.
So the option is, what you’ve seen is right and Slot is wrong OR the world class manager has a better insight into the player he watches daily than the lad on the internet.

Sleepy Chiesa? Not exactly a catchy nickname. Surely Bederico would’ve been better?
03 May 2025 17:41:58
Idk if I would label Slot as a world class manager.
03 May 2025 18:49:22
Then you have the ideal name.
03 May 2025 18:59:56
Klopp only started Elliott in 11 league games last season mind.

Now I'm getting Snow White vibes, Dopey Sneezy I forget the rest of them, but Cheeky got a certain ring to it.
