Ed1 - do you think we’ll move Jones on this summer? I used to be a huge fan but it feels like it hasn’t dropped for him. He hasn’t developed the consistency and looks like he holds onto the ball longer than ever.
{Ed001's Note - no.}

Tired of all this jones rhetoric…. he is a very good squad, suits Slot’s style and can cover a number of positions. Plus he is scouse (those of you that say that counts for nothing can stop crying over Trent leaving, as that is double standards) …I personally think Jones is an important member of the squad, and in certain games and situations is ideal. Prime example city game where we played to false 10s.
15 May 2025 21:40:51
I agree with you op. Jones looks likes he’s gone backwards and I would also add he looks lazy now. Am disappointed with him if am honest.
15 May 2025 21:42:35
He’s a squad player and nothing more. Good some of the time, terrible some of the time.
15 May 2025 21:55:48
Plus he's reportedly earning 15k per week so great for the clubs budget and for people worried about players getting paid too much ?.
15 May 2025 22:18:49
Love Jonesy I do. Bit shot shy but he can grow and grafts for the team.
15 May 2025 22:30:00
Good squad player, he’s a mix of the good, bad and ordinary. Lacks consistency but can turn up once in a while.
{Ed025's Note - very wishy-washy for me Tom...mediocrity personified..
15 May 2025 22:39:37
Better than the great Leon Osman though Ed025?
{Ed025's Note - in your dreams SRM, the song "busy doing nothing" was written for Curtis mate..
15 May 2025 23:09:30
If I had a pound for every time you've bagged Jones Ed025, I'd have enough to buy half your squad.
15 May 2025 23:43:32
@Longthing76 has it about right, but instead of gone backwards it should say only goes backwards. He's the reincarnation of Joe Allen, if there is a cul-de-sac to run down he'll find it. Also dwells on the ball too often and plays too many blind, dangerous passes (A Trent issue also and Noticed VVD doing it now) . Don't care about him leaving, but not good enough for that level of arrogance.
15 May 2025 23:59:45
How many times did Slot pick Elliott, Jones, Chiesa or Endo? List them in order of appearances this season and chose the one Slot sees as most useful for the squad.
16 May 2025 03:50:31
Malgail, have you ever considered that those players play those passes because they have been instructed to? It's not like slot drops them on the pitch and tells them to do whatever they want, he trusts that they have the skillset to pull passes like that off. Trent played much riskier passes that left us open when he inverted and no one was there to fill the space under klopp, are you going to blame him for sauntering off into the center circle unsupervised?
16 May 2025 05:30:32
I think he’s definitely improved under Slot, him and Grav were standout players in the first half of the season.
Every player has a dip in form.
At the moment his curve is trending upwards under Slot so I’d definitely keep him another season then reassess.

No wI start to see where Anneal supporters get the LFC won the league by default narrative. from some so called LFC supporters. :0.
16 May 2025 09:21:19
Exactly PB, if the whole team was playing Hollywood passes we would be relinquishing position more often than not.
I bet Jones does exactly the job Slot asks him to do, hence why he gets so many minutes.
Yes, he can be frustrating at times. Especially as we know he can score bangers, like the goal against Everton ….
{Ed025's Note - dont judge a payer on 1 shot 10 years ago StEA..
16 May 2025 09:44:47
I think that he has taken over the Henderson role perfectly - constantly passing the ball backwards!
16 May 2025 11:13:08
@KC, the classification of supporters is a touchy subject round these parts.
16 May 2025 11:06:02
Love it Ed25, thank you. I knew you would jump all over that.
One swallow does not make a summer and all that. If only he could do it every week!
{Ed025's Note - if you leave the door open then im the one to walk right through it mate.. :)
16 May 2025 12:48:14
@patrickberger no I think he plays those passes because it is meant to go somewhere other than where it ends up. The same way as he ends up going backwards because his first touch is bad and he is ripe to be closed down. Not everything isn't always masterplan, somethings are just not very good.
As for the comment of who Slot plays more, apples and oranges, seriously. In a (supposably) progressive role, in centre midfield you are not going to play 2 wingers or a destroyer, when your other option is that exact position. The question should be why do you ever play one of those 3 when you have the exact fit available.
16 May 2025 13:27:32
Patrik that is the problem these fans who sit and watch the reds most have never played football at any level. The manager and coaches set out how each player plays in their position and they follow instructions.
I remember the late great Ray Wilkins at man u being called by the fans the crab because he passed side ways and backwards he left to go to AC milan and the coach took the shackles of Ray and he showed his world class passing ability the moral of this is was under orders at man u to play the way they wanted him to. Curtis could be in same position. YNWA.

iwillbered anyone who played football would know that you can follow rules 100% of the time, its idiocy to even suggest it. Managers are psychic, they can't predict every play, every pass or every decision. Those who 'played the game' know tactics are just a style and information, how the player utilises that information and tries to comply to the tactics and decisions are entirely down to the player. They aren't robots and its not a simulator,
