Ed001 do we have serious interest in Ekitike mate please and have we made any contact that you are aware of?
{Ed001's Note - yes, but I don't see us paying the price being demanded. They will pay for a Wirtz, a van Dijk etc, a player that is clearly top class, but Ekitike is still a punt with no real record of playing at a high level. I just don't think the data points towards him being worth paying big money for.}
28 May 2025 16:33:08
That would explain why Chelsea are after him.
28 May 2025 16:38:57
Ed001 who do you think will turn out to be the better striker Ekitike or Sesko. I’ve not seen enough of them to be fair. i see a video with kevin hatchard and his view was Sesko has the higher ceiling.
{Ed001's Note - that is a tough one and I would need to know more of them to really judge it. They both work so hard that either could make it, both are very erratic in their finishing. The thing that helps Sesko is the power in both feet he has - when he smacks a shot, left or right foot, it is like a rocket. I remember stories about keepers who would just get out of the way of the ball when Billy Liddell hit a shot, I can imagine him having a similar effect. But the pair of them are just so inconsistent with their finishing, it really comes down to who works hardest at their game and gets the right move to bring them on.}
28 May 2025 16:40:46
Ekitike at 80m is a hell of a gamble - bit like Nunez, it could work out or be another flop being so young and from another league.
TBH I’d rather the club try to investigate if there’s any way to work out a deal with Athletico for Alvarez and sending Darwin in other direction at a reduced rate. Even £30m for Delap is less of a gamble.
Unfortunately Ekitike’s price tag reflects the distinct lack of strikers around Europe.

In the Liverpool Echo tonight LFC have bid 100 million euro for Hugo, Sky Sports Germany also running the same article. It showed the player landing in a private jet at JLA and the player had his hood up and was also being covered with umbrellas, it was raining heavily in Liverpool this morning when the private jet landed circa dinner time.
Chelsea is also interested, who are playing tonight to make History if they win they will be the "FIRST" club to win four major UEFA trophies, having already landed Champions league, europa league and now defunct cup winners cup.
Be nice to sign Hugo while they're getting beat tonight, two losses for the night, another first!
{Ed001's Note - 4 major European trophies? But you only listed 2 and then the CWC and Conference League which are minor surely?}
28 May 2025 16:56:03
There is one striker everyone is missing who is world class and liverpool are interested in. 7th June because that's when the club representatives meet to discuss a couple of players.
It will be a coup if successful.
28 May 2025 17:07:38
osimhen?
28 May 2025 17:09:45
Serhou Guirassy / Kane / Osimhen.
28 May 2025 17:12:27
Lautaro Martinez.
28 May 2025 17:12:55
Gyokeres maybe?
28 May 2025 17:15:33
Ah jesus Akira you just can't leave it like that, that's like getting your first kiss and then she walks away.
28 May 2025 17:17:07
Thanks ed001 I think I would go with Sesko think he would be cheaper I think Leipzig if am not mistaken have some sort of agreement with him to leave cheaper if he stayed an extra season least year. But that could have been click rubbish.
28 May 2025 17:17:46
I was going to say the same Johnny, feel like Guirassy would be a good shout. Not sure that fits the “more exciting than Wirtz” definition but I’d be excited by him.
{Ed001's Note - isn't he 29?}
28 May 2025 17:18:38
The conference league is definitely not a major trophy. It's basically just a reincarnation of the Intertoto cup.
28 May 2025 17:25:09
There are only 2 world class strikers in the world. Both aren’t coming.
28 May 2025 17:27:52
I'm with you Deisered, but to play the game, I wonder whether we could actually squeeze out an Isak!
28 May 2025 17:29:13
Gotta be Viktor Gyökeres.
28 May 2025 17:31:03
Yeah, because everyone would “miss” a world class striker.
World class strikers are rare as hens teeth.
There are a few washed up strikers in their 30s who used to be world class but their race is run.
I just don’t believe a world class striker has gone under everyone’s radar.
It’s probably Harry Kane, Muller, Lewandowski or Griezmann - all finished at the top level.
28 May 2025 17:37:40
Osimhen could be considered world class, . but looks to be heading to SA for some gold sheckles and a few pub league games.
28 May 2025 17:40:06
Cheers for reply Ed001 I appreciate it mate during these busy times not always easy to answer everything thrown at you. To be honest I didn’t think we would be looking to spend big on a striker as well as Wirtz anyway.
{Ed001's Note - I didn't expect Wirtz either, he seemed all set for Bayern. At least according to Bayern he was.}
28 May 2025 17:41:18
Hugo is too much of a punt at the quoted price, i just can't see it unless the price is much less and he is bought to be part of the squad.
Who is genuinely world class and available?
28 May 2025 17:52:37
There is real dirth of world class strikers.
Spain don't have one.
Germany don't.
Netherlands don't.
Eng has 1 in Harry Kane.
Salah, Martinez, Isak, Lewa, Vinicius, Mbappe are few we can consider world class. and some of them are wide forwards.
Rest are either very good or have potential to be world class. But not there yet.
28 May 2025 17:52:48
Im with mark on this one. altough id argue there is 5 worldclass-strikers today.2 are on the wrong side of 30 (Lewa and Kane), 1 will stay at Madrid (Mbappe), one plays for City. which leaves Isak as the only world class striker left and I reckon he'll be hard to get as Newcastle somehow managed to get CL footy even tho they didn't beat Everton.
Anyways. exciting times!
28 May 2025 17:54:32
Akira said that everyone is missing him, so it cannot be Gyokeres who is discussed alongside every Sesko/ Ekitike conversation.
Given the hints that club representatives are going to meet up to discuss a couple of players I guess it has to be Alvarez, Atletico still hold an interest in Nunez. On the other hand, nobody here is missing Alvarez as most people want him but there are not that many world class strikers.
Osimhen is my second guess, he is under the radar right now, but the rumours are that he is heading Saudi.
{Ed025's Note - i think it might be DCL mate.. :)
28 May 2025 17:57:43
Ronaldo ?. Well he is outta contrac.
28 May 2025 17:52:32
Yep you’re right Ed, and also AFCON would be a concern, just throwing names out because I haven’t the foggiest who this supposed striker could be mate
May have a think on some plausible names and see if one of them is right.
{Ed001's Note - I can't think of anyone that would beat Wirtz as a signing this summer other than Mbappe.}
28 May 2025 18:02:19
Ron maybe not gone under everyone’s radar but more so unexpected to be available?
28 May 2025 18:02:21
"Everyone is missing"
We've been already linked with Isak, Gyökeres, Osimhen and Alvarez already so clearly not everyone is missing.
Lautaro Martinez? Possibly the only striker that would create more excitement to me than Wirtz signing, along with the aforementioned Isak and Alvarez.
28 May 2025 18:14:38
Mbappe?
28 May 2025 18:16:50
Washford.
28 May 2025 18:35:34
Akira, is it Harry kane?
28 May 2025 18:48:15
It must be Haaland, he’s gone under everyone’s radar.
28 May 2025 18:50:15
Dembele or ISak.
28 May 2025 18:54:31
The Saudi League will end up just the same as the Chinese Super League circa ten years ago, with the results being wrapped around ye curry, rice and chips.
Osmihen the Metro paper reported yesterday will end up at old toilet together with Cunha who Amorim will pay his release clause, and Mbeumo (25) is available for 50 mill, who has one year remaining on his contract, with a club option for a further 12 months, Delap will be signed also they quote as cover for the above three, that's one juicy forward line to face, if FFP can be evaded!
The Four Major UEFA Trophies are/ were:
Champions League ( formerly European Cup)
Europa League (was Fairs Cup then UEFA Cup which Shanks won as LFCs first ever European trophy in 1973)
Cup Winners Cup now defunct (Ed025 will tell you EFC have won that in Rotterdam 1985, University college of Dublin were their first round opponents, at Goodison Park they hit the bar in the last minute after the first leg in dublin was 0-0, Neville Southall said in his autobiography we were leading 1-0, in the last minute they hit the bar, if it had gone in we were out on away goals, it was still rattling when Goodison Park was closed forever a week sunday ago.
Conference Trophy first final ever tonight.
Chelsea v Real Betis Tonight TNT sports.
28 May 2025 19:12:06
No one has mentioned Rasmus H.
{Ed025's Note - i think hes signed for Chester mate..
28 May 2025 20:32:50
Martinez would be immense, but more likely etikite.
29 May 2025 01:11:50
Between Sesko and Ekitike I think I'd take Ekitike. I feel that Sesko may struggle in the PL with his speed.
Ekitike reminds me of Isak before Newcastle bought him. perhaps Ekitike more skilful but not as good a finisher compared to Isak before Newcastle.
If we could lamd Ekitike for around 65m then I think worth it but it sounds like they want a lot more and with Chelsea keen, then they'll get the full price for sure.
