Anthony Gordon and Liverpool are trying to push a move through together. Diaz is off.
Ta.
30 May 2025 22:52:17
Substandard player who offer nothing but pace. Very disappointing if true. He's below any quality we have in his position.
30 May 2025 22:58:39
Eek. Wouldn't be for that myself. Quite a downgrade IMO.
30 May 2025 22:59:41
Diaz is off to Al Nassr or Barca?
30 May 2025 23:01:03
That’s a massive downgrade imo. Hopefully it fails again and we go for someone better.
30 May 2025 23:06:11
Don't believe a bit of it.
30 May 2025 23:07:18
Not worth it.
30 May 2025 23:14:43
Is he off to Saudi?
30 May 2025 23:14:45
A shame if so, I like Diaz. Gordon has better pace but I don’t think he’s an improvement - you can only hope he loves the club and raises it a level. I do think we lack a bit of pace though.
30 May 2025 23:26:58
He was poor this season. He's a clear downgrade on Diaz and is worse than Gakpo. I understand selling Diaz if you are offered big money but Gordon will also cost big money just to be a squad option. Wouldn't it be better to go for a more "moneyball" player in that case?
30 May 2025 23:48:00
Personally I don't rate Gordon and don't get the Hype. Sooner go For Neco Williams.
30 May 2025 23:54:52
We need more technical ability in the team not less. Massive downgrade imo - not even as good as Gakpo. Much prefer Nico Williams or someone like Barcola.
31 May 2025 00:14:06
Hoping Carra was our new insider, but his last post about Retegui does not seem to have any legs, so not optimistic about this.
31 May 2025 00:45:47
Not for me…. the fact he’s a local lad will buy him a few points but he’s not shown the quality we need to play for us.
31 May 2025 02:12:58
Nico Williams better fit IMO. FSG profile, plus release clause. Wages possibly an issue, though.
31 May 2025 02:29:54
Nico Williams has high wage demands I thought, so not ideal considering Salah and Wirtz potential salaries.? Also isn't Gordon a recycled rumour from a year or so back?
31 May 2025 02:53:38
Diaz has 17 goals and 8 assists in all competitions last season.
Gordon has 9 goal and 8 assists in all competitions last season
Personally I just don’t see the him as good enough.
31 May 2025 04:08:36
I agree with most about the downgrade. Although that's on this seasons diaz. With his contract situation/ age can you guarantee that output from him again? The data guys will know allot more than me but its definitely something I can see the club doing. Gordon has some pros they will like. Works like a dog off the ball just like diaz, is lightning wich a certain no10 will benefit from with his passing ability, only last season had a season like diaz had this. Is homegrown and there's been allot of talk elliot/ gomez/ quansah could leave. And age. Certain sources say it was close last year when I believe Gordon had a year or maybe 2 left on his contract then signed a new deal this season. Wouldn't shock me to learn there's a clause in it for a certain team that plays in red, if its true he was really pushing last year. Personally would rather let jota go and use diaz as a 9 and wing cover. But 75mill will be hard to turn down for someone his age. And the data guys at the club will back themselves to replace him for half that. Will definitely miss him tho if he leaves can never have enough warriors who put everything in for 90 like he did. ?.
31 May 2025 07:42:00
Has anybody asked Williams if he’d like to play for us? It’d probably be wise to ask him before we start writing him off because of his possible wage demands.
31 May 2025 08:01:33
Gordon is a runner with low goal frequency. Malick Fofana from Lyon is young cheap, very pacy, very skillful with both legs, he dribbles assists and score goals with much years ahead to improve. He is just 20 years old. He is been linked but not so strong. He is a Liverpool fan, that could really work for us. He is rated to worth 20 million euro by transfer market. We actually don't need Gordon pls.
31 May 2025 08:36:21
I like Gordon, as i do Diaz. Actually think Diaz has had some of his best form with us the last few months but i can see the thinking behind it if it were to happen. Over the last coupla years i would say there isn't much between them, Gordons a fair few years younger, is scouse and homegrown. The difference in goals this year can be a bit deceiving as Diaz played more games and also played a lot of them at CF this season.
31 May 2025 08:36:37
I can see Diaz signing another contract. I really hope he does as I think he's a fantastic player. He has told everyone he wants to sign again so usually that means he will do so.
Barca can't afford him and I think we are his next best option (in his eyes)
31 May 2025 06:30:31
The data guys must really see something special in Gordon given how long we have tracked him, slot must like him as a player too. Diaz doesn't even play left wing when gakpo is fit anymore so I'm not sure he would be a Diaz replacement anyway. I remember somebody, maybe ed001, saying that there were thoughts about playing Gordon centrally ala Diaz? Or am I hallucinating.
31 May 2025 09:25:43
Gordon was stuck at RW for 1/ 3 of the seasond ue to Howie's weird experiment, when he was returned to LW Newcastle started to bang and play significantly better together with that Isak insane form in December and January.
31 May 2025 09:52:58
Saudi is a real option for Diaz but it would be a shame for him to waste his ability over there at the age of 28. Barcelona clearly want him and are doing all they can in the media to get him to stall on any transfers because they can’t make a move until after end of June when there spending cap is reviewed. From a Liverpool perspective either he signs a new contract or off to Saudi because Barcelona are never going to pay up and will do the same as Madrid and try pressure Diaz into forcing a way out.
31 May 2025 09:53:56
I never really like signing players who have played for Everton or Utd. Simply because they are under pressure as soon as they join. One mistake and there will be a lot of fans on his back saying how crap he is and how he was never good enough for Liverpool.
It’s hard to go from just looking for a player’s faults because he plays for a rival, to supporting him and lauding his attributes.
I’ll support Gordon if he signs but it’ll be tough for him.
31 May 2025 10:35:34
Being a Liverpool fan I wouldn't be against it and i'm sure he would give 100% for the shirt. People rave about Diaz, and i do like the bloke, but think he's often too wasteful a lot of the times. He always runs into congestion and shoots, which gives the ball away, rather than passing to a team mate. If we got great money for him, then let him go. It's no secret he's had his eye on a move for a while. We want 100% committed players at the club, which Gordon would be IMO.
31 May 2025 11:39:09
I'm a bit surprised that the nerds upstairs rate him this much.
But maybe they're confident that he can be moulded into a winger like Mane - direct, hard working, fast and clinical, with the ability to beat the odd man. He's more decisive and pacey than Diaz, Slot is looking for pace and directness to attack inside channels. Diaz isn't quite that profile, he wants more time to slalom around and think about what he's doing.
31 May 2025 11:51:19
What Diaz does for the team is hugely underrated. His workrate is incredible and he's always available. He protects the fullback better than any of our wingers. Gakpo's absolutely useless at protecting his fullback and we know that Salah is absolved of that work in our system.
Yes, he lacks the final pass or shot to make him truly elite, but everything else is very high level.
And the thing about his age is that he's actually one of those late bloomers in football, so it wouldn't be surprising if he's got a lot more in the tank yet.
I don't think it controversial to say that he was our third best player this season after Mo and Virg.
In terms of left wingers/ left forwards that are definitely better than Lucho, there are less than a handful of them eg Kvara, Vini Jr. Doue and Barcola are coming through but would need another season to properly judge.
So we should be wary of assuming we can upgrade on Lucho easily.
Players like Gordon, Rodrygo, Williams, Kudus, Leao and Fofana while younger, would be risks.
re Gordon, he's a Red, which is a draw. He's quick and direct, and pretty efficient in terms of goals and assists. However, he plays in a high transition team while at LFC he would face low blocks most weeks. Does he have the patience and focus to adapt to that?
And lastly, young Rio Nguhoma's breakthrough timing will need to be considered too.
31 May 2025 12:12:43
I'm in the minority that would like Gordon at the club then ?.
31 May 2025 19:39:56
I don't want Lucho to leave, but if he does we already have Cody to play left, unless we are planning on getting shut of both. Only then would I consider Gordon.
If one of them leaves I would take a punt on Fofana from lyon, as he can play all of the front 3 positions and I can see him being happy with a squad rotation role, for the time being.
