Luis Diaz to Saudi is happening. Unless Barcelona can come to an arrangement, its Saudi for Diaz, he wants the move to Barcelona, but LFC will entertain Saudi and he will listen to their proposals.

I don't mind seeing him leave. My issue is with the forward depth since Nuñez is also leaving, and there is a chance Chiesa leaves too.
Even if we sign a striker, which we should and probably will, depth will become an issue, unless we feel thet Wirtz can play on the left side (modifying the tactics and not as a winger), which then the depth issue will be in the midfield.

Lucho ?? had a great season for us this season. We’ve can’t replace him with Gordon surly! It’s an awful downgrade that.
I wish him well, too good for Saudi imo. Thought he might have done one more year with us but not to be.

If Diaz and nunez go, we will surely have to keep the rest, can’t change half a team in one go. Salah Jota Gakpo - those 3 can start the first game and we’d be no worse off. Jota is a weird one, but on form, he does get goals - I think he’s a great sub to have, more than a starter though. You’d imagine you would look at a young left winger and a fairly significant striker coming in though.

Can Barcola play across the front or is he more a specialist LW? I quite like the look of Malick Fofana too - young (will qualify for U21 this season), quick and a decent price.
Another one that I was annoyed we missed out on last summer but is still available for a decent price is Minteh - c£35m from Brighton. Has similar qualities to Salah (albeit much younger and less developed) .

I don't think Diaz's Dad said much wrong. He said he dreamed of playing for Barcelona. What's so wrong with that? He's from South America.
I reckon Gordon has dreamed about playing for Liverpool.
Just my view, I think whether Diaz stays or not will come down to wages. If he's not greedy then he can see him staying. I wouldn't be against that and I wouldn't be paying Gordon daft money either.

Diaz is good but considering he is at the peak of his years we should allow him to go if we receive good offer for him. Now we should get a better, younger, cheaper, faster goalscoring winger. imo I don't think we need any traditional CF. It is hard to play them in such a 4-3-3 formation when you have Salah and Gakpo cutting in to provide goals. Such team is PSG anyone can score this has limited the playing time of Gonzalez Ramos. I am sure that's Arne Slot style of play. He likes lacing passes but we were so weak at breaking low blocks. We need players that can fit in to such system not necessarily every players that had a wonderful since for their clubs to impose astronomical fees on them. I personally don't like Alexander Isak injury records with the price Newcastle is asking from suitors. Suarez was not expensive Carol was the big one. Suarez fitted in better considering the tactics we played then.

How on earth is Gordon better than gakpo or Diaz in any respect? Okay, he runs faster, but gakpo's game isn't built on speed, and the two of them offer us so so much from a defensive (gakpo) and pressing (Diaz) perspective. Diaz gets kicked from first minute to last and he's running non stop off the ball, making endless dummy runs, not to mention he picks up the ball from deep and drives down the pitch reliably on his own any time you need him to.
I mean seriously what is with this site sometimes, do we not actually recognise how good some of our players are? It's utterly mindboggling to me how any player is better than what we have. Even Gordon's stats aren't anywhere near gakpo, who was on fire prior to his injury, and much less Diaz.

Gordon is excellent at tracking back. Amazing engine. We need a different option with more pace up front to change things up in certain games - I’m just not convinced after signing a new contract and with CL footy he’s a viable option.

It's not about loyalty or disloyalty, it's about the suggestion that Gordon is better than Diaz, which to me feels symptomatic of a certain tendency on here to think that anybody who looks half decent at another side is a better player than a reliable starter (with better stats and metrics in every respect) at an elite, title-winning team. So what if Gordon is a Liverpool fan? Are you telling me that Diaz isn't a Liverpool fan with the work that he puts in every game and coming out to talk about how much it means to him to be a Liverpool player? I understand if some are okay with him leaving, I think the writing is on the wall with him with Wirtz coming in, but let's not disrespect what an excellent player he has been for the vast majority of our title winning year.

Then you need to pick your words better because your argument didn’t register as being about Diaz vs. Gordon. Anyway, I agree: I think Diaz is better than Gordon as well, but unfortunately he’s 28, and any bid above 70m is going to have to be entertained. He is a bit behind Gakkers in the pecking order as well, even without considering Wirtz. I believe the German will play a similar role to Salah, cutting in on his right foot as an inside left of sorts. I can’t see Wirtz through the middle.

Diaz this season outscored him. but this is Diaz best season last year he did not and the year before they where pretty even in number, Diaz is not worlds better then Gordon they are the same.

Seeing as this thread was mostly about Diaz vs Gordon, I would have assumed that going by contextual clues, it would have been reasonable to infer that Patrick was indeed talking about Diaz vs Gordon. Maybe I do have a too high expectation on the cognitive capabilities of people on this site. I mean, I'm on it too so that should have told me otherwise ;)

I think Gordon is better than Diaz and Gakpo. I don't think he's top drawer but I don't Diaz and Gakpo are either.
I wouldn't be looking to sell either of them unless someone came in with a good offer. I wouldn't be looking to sign Gordon either unless the money was right and one or both of Diaz and Gakpo left.
I could be wrong but I don't think there's a great deal between any of them.
I've never been that impressed with Diaz or Gakpo but they are decent players and helped win us the League again. My lad has a go at me when I criticise them but I always tell him that I was spoiled by Mane.

Losing Diaz is a massive loss. I honestly feel he was ready to break out next season and show us his best. He is a player I would be sad to see leave on the level of Trent. Another successful signing and a brilliant footballer. Best of luck to him whatever happens but would still love to see Wirtz assist Lucho and vice versa next season ?.

Some people don’t rate Diaz, some don’t rate Gordon, some don’t rate Gakpo and some don’t rate any of them. A lot of people don’t really say what measure they are using, some are doing a comparative rating of player v player and some, who I suspect play a lot of online football manager games, are rating them against their subjective view of excellence. I think my subjective answer is defined in one word - Barcola.
