Newcastle want a package that is similar to Wirtz for Isak but crucially they are open to letting him move and the player wants to come.
Sorry to disappoint but Gordon is the first choice to replace Diaz, the price will be less than last summer.
Newcastle are looking at getting Quansah, Gomes or Elliot as part of the deal for Isak.
This comes from some at Newcastle involved in transfers.

Gordon is quick, can play across the front 3 and loves LFC with a passion, therefore he makes sense on a lot of levels.
His dad won't be banging on about barca, that's for sure.
09 Jun 2025 17:15:26
They can have Quansah, Elliott and Gomez for 100m, and 13m in loose change.
{Ed025's Note - you will be lucky to get £30m for them 3 Vango..
09 Jun 2025 17:17:26
Nope. Newcastle want 200 million £ so am calling BS on this one. sorry.
09 Jun 2025 17:18:25
Thanks Thefields. Does your contact suggest that Newcastle may be interested in more than one player?
As they are putting a premium on Isak, I could see something like Elliot + £80-£90m for Isak, Gomez + £30-£40m for Gordon.
I'm not disappointed in Gordon, I didn't think he was the best, most cost effective, choice, but I can see his attraction.
He also seems to exhibit the trait that all of the players more strongly linked this summer have exhibited - they really want to play for Liverpool.
I'm glad the transfer team are putting that attribute towards the top of the list now.
{Ed025's Note - i thought you were going to say diving Zed.. :)
09 Jun 2025 17:19:11
Interesting. Wonder what they’d accept for all 3?
09 Jun 2025 17:20:17
@Thefields Cheers for the info.
Good news on the Isak front. The only problem on any potential deal was whether Newcastle were willing to sell. The fact Newcastle are now, means will most likely make move for Isak and will most likely get the deal done.
As for Gordon, I will admit he ain’t my first choice for the wide left forward role. That being said, he is hard working, has ability, him and his family are all die hard Liverpool fans - not to mention the fact Slot and the club want him, means they see more to his game than what he’s currently showing.
09 Jun 2025 17:21:06
Isak would be the icing on the cake. They can have any or all of them players in return lol.
09 Jun 2025 17:23:28
Might as well give them all 3. I love Elliot but it just doesn’t look like he’s going to get a chance, I like Gomes and his versatility too, but he’s probably just too injury prone to even be a back up. The point of a back up is to be available when needed, but sadly he seems to then always pick up something himself. Perhaps caused by going from a relative lack of game time to having to play a lot? I don’t know. Quansah again looks like Sott doesn’t trust him after obviously impressing in pre season.
09 Jun 2025 17:24:34
So we may get both if Diaz and Nunez are sold?
09 Jun 2025 17:27:37
Do we think Gordon could be a decent player if given the chance, impact from the bench. Given starts when the chance arrises. I personally haven't taken notice of him, Nothing impressive when I have watched Newcastle play.
{Ed025's Note - i think hes a decent player SM...but also a serial cheat mate..
09 Jun 2025 17:31:53
So around £150m for Isak and Gordon. Nunez Diaz Gomez gets you over 100m surely.
09 Jun 2025 17:35:45
I just can’t see us going for isak, even if we do sell Diaz and Nunez for good money, do we spend another £100m+ when we still need a CB, and a winger if Diaz goes.
If then quansah and Gomez goes too, that leaves us needing another CB….
09 Jun 2025 17:44:37
Thanks thefields. Are we in for Osimhen or Martinez?
09 Jun 2025 17:46:16
If you can get Isak for a similar fee to Wirtz, do it. These two players would be genuine needle movers like Virgil and Alisson were in 2018.
Even if it means spending less in the coming windows.
09 Jun 2025 17:59:49
Why would newcastle let their talisman leave when they are about to play in the CL? Makes no sense, since it surely satisfies Isak's sporting desires also.
09 Jun 2025 18:11:12
Am I the only one who's a bit concerned about paying such a high fee for Isak given his injury issues? His form also fell off a cliff at the end of last season.
09 Jun 2025 18:26:25
I really can't see us signing Isak.
Gordon is more realistic because he's cheaper and he could also play through the middle.
I can see Diaz and Nunez going and a player like Gordon coming in. What happens with Jota is also a consideration.
I'm not saying Gordon will happen but I'm saying Isak won't. Wirtz is the big signing and any others will be made with him in mind. And Salah, of course.
They are just my opinions, though.
09 Jun 2025 18:49:03
ASB, call BS all you want. The fact is you have pulled a price out thin air for a start. Secondly, by what you said "Newcastle want £200m" they are open to selling at that price. I also never said we were going to sign him. Just a conversation has been had, nothing more.
For those asking, it would be 1 player plus cash.
Kha, as far as I'm aware Oshimen is no longer and option unless something has changed since this morning about him accepting the Saudi offer. For Martinez, Akira has covered that. he's available, is he interested tho. Who knows.
As I said a week or so back. Its a difficult deal to make and has a lot of moving parts to it. Unlike the Wirtz deal this is dependent on sales.
{Ed077's Note - I would be very surprised if Isak moved clubs this summer. But I guess money talks ?
09 Jun 2025 18:57:25
Thefields, do you think that Saudis will come for Nunez or we are stuck with him? I guess that the deal for Isak depends on getting a lot of money for Nunez.
09 Jun 2025 18:57:49
Aye Ed77. Could also be that he knows he has more chance of winning the league or CL too tho.
{Ed077's Note - I guess that's what you will try to sell the idea of to him, if you got him to the transfer table First
09 Jun 2025 19:01:28
Cheers Thefields, this is great stuff! Delighted to see Newcastle are open to the sale for the right price!
I imagine Newcastle would want about £170-180mil for the pair of them? I reckon we could give them Elliot and one of Quansah or Gomez and that would probably knock £70 mil off, and the remaining money would be around what we’d make for Nunez and Diaz. Great bit of business i think!
For everyone here worried about Gordon, I think he’d be a great signing for the role we need. With Diaz going, Gakpo will be the starting LW (and I imagine he and Salah will be playing more as inside forwards with Kerkez and Frimpong providing the width on the overlap. ) Gordon then gives us a great rotation option or impact off the bench. It’s hard to replace Diaz with a Rodrygo type signing who would demand a starting role, while Gakpo is still at the club, where as Gordon is a Red through and through, I think he’d take a rotation role just to play for Liverpool for a couple of years.
For people worried about Isak’s injury record, obviously it’s a valid concern, but if anyone can keep him fit, it’s Slot and our medical team. He kept getting recurring injuries at Newcastle because they needed him and played him through niggles and rushed him back. Our medical staff wouldn’t let him, and I really believe Slot would manage him better. Look at Konate this season - it’s no coincidence that Slot comes in and Konate has his first decent long-term run in the team without an injury. And if Isak did pick up a knock, you could play Gordon through the middle, you could play Wirtz false 9, you could move Salah inside and play Frimpong or Gordon on the right, or you could just play Jota (if he’s still here, and if he leaves then maybe we could pick up a cheap squad player to have as backup)
09 Jun 2025 19:18:59
WhatDivock - Far too much sense in your post. Where is the angry rants and uninformed b+ollo x?
09 Jun 2025 19:20:08
Plodiv, Nunez wants out. He will leave be that a transfer or loan with an obligation.
WD, you're probably looking at £150m at least for Isak alone.
09 Jun 2025 19:26:36
The Gordon talk is from his camp, LFC have moved on and he won't be signing for them this summer. Forget isak too.
09 Jun 2025 19:32:13
I think Isak comes next summer. The money involved would be considerably less in 12 months.
09 Jun 2025 19:35:00
Appreciate your reply mate let’s see what happen s.
09 Jun 2025 19:37:39
The Fields. if we somehow raise the necessary funds from sales and get Isak I'm going to find where you are, take you out for a romantic meal and let you have your way with me!
09 Jun 2025 20:25:27
Isak is 1/ 40 to stay at Newcastle next season. That's probably because teams will offer Newcastle Elliott and Gomez and want £70m knocking off the fee.
I'd be livid if I was a Newcastle fan and the club sold Isak and brought in Elliott and Gomez and £80m in cash.
I can't see Isak moving this summer but when I'm seeing names like the two above and Quansah as part of a deal, I'm certain that he won't ?.
09 Jun 2025 20:58:22
2shoes, I'm hoping we pull this off now with that promise ?.
Rigsby, I could see them being happy with Elliot but not the others. Although Newcastle are interested in all 3 regardless of Isak. ?.
09 Jun 2025 22:00:29
Swapsies - Elliott, Quansah, Gomez, Nunez, Jota for Isak ✔️.
{Ed025's Note - and £80m..
09 Jun 2025 22:28:43
I know it’s all only make believe but even in a make believe world would it be wise to get rid of two of our four first team squad CB’s in one go when we haven’t got one, let alone two, replacement CBs lined up?
