The Isak rumours are very interesting and exciting but does anyone else think that if Isak is on the move Arsenal will throw the kitchen sink at him?

They are desperate for a top striker so I could see a world where we are in talks to sign him and they would offer substantially more than us in transfer fee and wages.

I just can’t see them letting us have him without a fight.

I’m sure they would Robbo. But reports seem to suggest he wants us, like Wirtz did.

18 Jun 2025 09:09:10
just concerned with his injury record
but would love him to join.

18 Jun 2025 09:22:06
Dont think so, they are baulking at Liepzig's asking price for Sesko. I think if we don't get Isak it will come down to the Geordies not wanting to sell. If they are willing to do so he'll end up with us over Arsenal.

18 Jun 2025 09:29:11
Robbo, are you still at the Airport! ??.

18 Jun 2025 09:42:53
To be fair Isak at 130 mill is much better value for money than Sesko for 80-90 mill. Sesko disappears from games too often, his movement is not fantastic, technically he is not first rate and his finishing is inconsistent.

18 Jun 2025 09:56:10
My concerns who be his injury record. Not just the risk of reoccurrence, but that it seemed NUFC wrapped him up in cotton wool asking him to not press or track back to I assume avoid further issues. Not sure how that would work in Slots team when Salah is already rarely tracking back anymore.

18 Jun 2025 09:56:39
If we were to buy Martinz as well, he can do some of the missing leg work from Mo + Isak.

Sales will cover both, especially if we are loosing 3 of oour forward line plus Doak and Elliott.

I feel certain that one of sesko or Ekitike will come good.

18 Jun 2025 09:58:35
Robboslostlegs get of insta and move your car, you're blocking me! ?.

18 Jun 2025 10:28:13
I just don’t see him busting a gut to get from opposition box down to our box to defend like I have seen mo and nunez do. More a old school goal hanger for me.

18 Jun 2025 10:18:20
That’s my thoughts exactly Patrick. Sesko is an unknown quantity in the premier league so to spend big on him is a huge gamble as we found out with Nunez, Utd with Hojlund, Chelsea with Jackson etc. etc.

Isak is proven and there’s a much higher chance of success so he’s worth the extra money.

I’m not particularly worried about his injury record, purely for the fact that we have medical staff that are far more qualified than any of us to judge whether he has a problem staying fit. Even if any of us are doctors, surgeons, physios we don’t have access to Isak’s specific medical records nor do we have the chance to conduct a full medical on him. Our medical staff have all of those things so they are in a much better position to make that call.

I seem to remember a poster on here (I think it was Akira) saying that Isak has said he wants Liverpool, Arsenal or Barcelona hence my first post.

If Arsenal come in with a higher offer, higher wages and a chance to live in London would he really turn them down? I’m not so sure. Plus he’d be the player that all of their fans have been crying out for so it’s a feather in the cap for Lego Head and the club and guarantees him a place in the starting line up.

We are is much less need of a goal scorer so I just feel like they would be much more determined to get him.

18 Jun 2025 10:34:22
Johnny mate, what are you smoking? ? Isak and Lautaro? Might as well throw in Mbappé and Haaland while you're at it - then we'll really be cooking!

18 Jun 2025 10:36:51
I doubt we would move for him without him indicating his desire to play for Liverpool. If he was open to listening to offers from another club, we would exit.

As for his work rate - I don't think it's fair to call him a goal hanger. Watch what he did to both Saliba and Gabriel at the Emirates. They were petrified of him.

Agree that there is a question about his physical capacity/ robustness. However, I would hope they do their due diligence on that.

{Ed001's Note - Isak is supposedly a boyhood Liverpool fan. Not sure how true that is though.}

18 Jun 2025 10:46:46
To me it will be his lack of tracking back and his pressing worries me, do we need a player who needs Molly coddling and wrapped in cotton wool.

18 Jun 2025 10:52:57
Ed001 - Isak had pics of Sean Dundee and Ronny rosenthal on his toilet wall.

{Ed001's Note - didn't we all? They provided the perfect reminder to our missus that it is ok to miss the target....}

18 Jun 2025 10:59:58
WTF ed. That was actually funny. Was that an old joke or did you pay him to set you up?

{Ed001's Note - ouch, bit harsh that!}

18 Jun 2025 11:00:04
I think given the choice Isak would choose us over Arsenal, I remember seeing a video of him when he was at AIK where he said he was a Liverpool fan and would like to play for us one day. Given we’ve signed Wirtz and it seems like we are pushing the boat out this summer to build on last season, it feels like anything is possible.

18 Jun 2025 11:02:01
There is an interview with him from when he was much younger talking about Liverpool being a club he admired. And more recently he says Anfield is his favourite away ground. So it's possible he is a Red!

18 Jun 2025 11:03:23
I heard that Newcastle played a certain way last season to accommodate Isak's injury concerns. This meant there was a worry about his tracking back and how he would fit into Slots system. However, there is a possibility Slot might play a different system next season. His signings so far seem to point towards that. That might mean that Isak won't be required to track back so much so his signing would now make more sense. As well as his booyaka class in front of goal of course!

18 Jun 2025 11:06:44
Isak can’t be as bad as Sick Note Jota! He’d score a hatful with the supply he’d get! BUT he’s got to want the shirt and not let his agent tart himself around to Arsenal etc! Wirtz and Frimpong ONLY wanted us so let’s hope Isak wants us as badly! ????.

18 Jun 2025 11:09:46
Lol no harm meant, just some joke appreciation going on. I love me some toilet humour!

{Ed001's Note - don't worry mate, I wasn't offended.}

18 Jun 2025 11:30:54
I don't get this obsession with Isak not tracking back? How many top forwards do? Alvarez perhaps but beyond that. very few. We've been blessed with CF like Firmino and Suarez. but isn't the cruical part whether or not he can cut passing lanes and initiate the press? Newcastle is a high-energy team who presses early and he seems to fit into such a team quite well.

18 Jun 2025 11:34:13
I don’t get the Isak does not work hard enough comments. He also only missed 4 league games last season I think most of them was down to a toe injury. His injury record looks nowhere near as bad as Jota’s. I also would love to know how you guys have been informed by Eddie Howe on how he changed his way of playing to protect Isak from injury was it email or text?

18 Jun 2025 11:44:33
This cotton wool nonsense lol

Do people think I’ve needs to be wrapped in cotton wool for the rest of his career?

18 Jun 2025 11:58:32
Firmino is a completely different type of forward though, he also opened up space for others.

All I know is the prices have gone crazy and we need a proven CF. Hopefully one that can stay fit for the majority of the season.

18 Jun 2025 13:03:23
Does anybody reckon that we might take a good look at Isak’s health / injury record and ensure that he passes a stringent medical before we’d actually sign him? I suspect the club may be ahead of the game on their assessment of his physical capabilities and likelihood of susceptibility to recurrent injury. I suspect if I was going to shell out £ 100m I’d want to check what I was getting.

18 Jun 2025 13:34:34
Isaks fitness is a huge risk, make no mistake. A fragile body is a fragile body.

Do you save him for the most important games, as Newcastle did?

If we were to wait another season, a new Isak may emerge.

And of course we can afford both he and Martinez with sales - look at the list of sales and make your own minds up as to how much they are all worth -

Elliott
Diaz
Jota
Nunez
Robertson
Tsimi
Gomez
Morton
Quansah
Fede
Phillips
Koumas
Doak.

18 Jun 2025 14:34:09

18 Jun 2025 14:56:53
Oooo arsenal scary oooo.

18 Jun 2025 16:59:06
I have heard that Arsenal do have the best kitchen sink in Europe so it might all come down to who does the dishes at the isak household.

19 Jun 2025 00:38:37
If Arsenal throw a kitchen sink at Isak I’m sure he’s quick enough to dodge it even if he is wrapped in cotton wool and has a niggling groin injury.
I mean how quickly can anyone throw a kitchen sink? Even Geoff Capes himself couldn’t throw it that quickly.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a kitchen sink.

19 Jun 2025 06:40:07
I'm just a bit worried about throwing well over £100m on Isak, thinking he'll be banging in dozens of goals.
He might do, but we are a different team, who scored quite a few more goals last season than Newcastle, even without a reliable striker-finisher. Our goals came from elsewhere - and that was partly why the strikers didn't get more.
Plus as others have said, if Isak isn't going to track back, sure he might get some goals himself, but does it improve the team as a whole? Notable that when Haaland is playing, he gets lots of goals over a season, but City don't get a shedload more goals overall than without him.
Look at Madrid with Mbappe joining - because he doesn't track back, and the front line has to be shaped around him, have they actually got better, despite signing one of the best forward players in the world?
Plus I share others concerns about Isak's injury record and the reduced minutes he actually played.
Sure, for £90m I'd sign him anyway. But I think let's not fall into the trap of thinking a player scoring lots of goals in a different system at a different club would definitely do the same here.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still be delighted to see him in red (or Alvarez even more) but for the likely price, it's a massive gamble.

19 Jun 2025 07:27:05
Can't seem to find it but during his sociedad days there was an interview for a documentary about swedish football where the showed a photo of him as a kid wearing a Liverpool shirt so I do believe it is true.

19 Jun 2025 08:54:32
He may have worn a Liverpool shirt, but as a kid I also owned shirts for Real Madrid, PSG and AC Milan.

19 Jun 2025 09:03:18
Throwing £100 million at him is heavier than throwing a kitchen sink and much more bulky.
I doubt anyone could throw it to be honest.

19 Jun 2025 09:26:41
Watch out for Arsenal turning to nunez.
