Clickbait story on, Rangers wanting to buy Owen Beck on a permanent transfer, no mention of price.

What do you think Beck is worth?

I'd probably say around £5-£8m based on getting £3m for Nat who is 6 years older and also had 1 year left on his contract.

Agree5 Disagree0

He’s worth what we will accept and they will pay.

24 Jun 2025 14:17:44
Thanks Why0Why, why o why bother to reply with something so glib? Just move on if you don't have a view.

24 Jun 2025 14:18:47
Done well at Blackburn last season, and in Scotland the year before. I'd have thought £8-10m would be about right.

{Ed001's Note - wasn't he Blackburn's young player of the season?}

24 Jun 2025 14:34:04
I think if we are to get rid we'd get a decent amount for him but I'm hoping he can be given a chance with us.

24 Jun 2025 14:53:03
Ed001 I would rather keep him as back up to Kerkez and let the other 2 left backs leave. Robbo looks like he wants a to go to still be a first choice. As for Tsimikas I don’t think he is good enough anyway and would rather Owen Beck take his place in the squad. What’s your thoughts on it Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I would like to see him given the chance, he has been very impressive and has a similar style of play to Kerkez.}

24 Jun 2025 14:54:35
Dont know Ed but i remember he was flying till he picked up an injury.

24 Jun 2025 14:58:26
If there is a buy back clause could be a benefit.

24 Jun 2025 15:17:26
I'm really on the fence on this one.

On the one hand he deserves an opportunity to carve a career elsewhere - thinking about Nat Phillips here, albeit from what the Eds have said, Nat really did want to stay at Liverpool despite being loaned out.

On the other hand, if he is a Slot-style of player, he's only 22 so a similar age to Kerkez, would be great to see a battle on the left like Bradley and Frimpong could be battling on the right.

We also have Joe and/ or Guehi could could cover if we have a crisis.

I think if we buy Hato, Beck will be off, but if we don't I'd be keen for him to be a rotation option with Kerkez, if he is happy for the same. Certainly worth more to us than the £5-£10m spread of prices quoted here.

24 Jun 2025 15:18:54
Because seeking answers here is daft, no?

No one here knows what he will go for. Might as well ask what is Darwin currently having for lunch?

No one here knows and yet, if it doesn’t come to pass how someone here says it should, there will be moaning.

24 Jun 2025 15:20:03
ShiningSlotsHead, a buy beck clause you mean.

24 Jun 2025 15:29:13
You always seem to be reading these clickbait articles. I guess you are their target audience.

{Ed077's Note - ?? Hey we all do it. ?

24 Jun 2025 15:47:15
Why 0 Why, because I am interested in opinions of other posters. Leads to some banter.

24 Jun 2025 15:52:22
I’d let beck go and go for hato personally to cover left back and cb when needed.

24 Jun 2025 15:59:01
Thunderbird - too right! It's just too exciting at this time of year!

24 Jun 2025 16:02:47
If it's rangers, I would expect no more than £4m, but with their new player trading model, if we put a buy back in for say £8m, they'd probably go for it, and that would be a good deal for all I think.

24 Jun 2025 17:03:43
I'd personally buy Hato and loan him to Ajax for a year of regular footie and give Beck a chance alongside Kerkez. Also, Chambers can cover LB and CB.

24 Jun 2025 15:42:12
Ed001 I think keeping Beck over Tsimikas and Robertson is a non lose situation. Lower wages even after a season Slot thinks he is not going to be at the level we need if he plays in cup games and league against the lower league sides the rest of the team can carry him especially with Virgil being on his side in league games so his value will rise more. I also don’t think after the end of the season with the break Robbo’s legs will have gone more so I don’t see him having a problem taken over that role as back up. With the big contracts handed out squad members like that help the wage bill.

24 Jun 2025 17:55:08
Could we have less of the Beck handed comments please?

24 Jun 2025 18:14:54
I am not sure Beck can claim the left beck spot tbh!

24 Jun 2025 18:22:57
How old was Robertson when we bought him? I wouldn’t write beck off just yet.

24 Jun 2025 18:51:02
He's very useful when you've got ye beck to the wall!

23 when he signed on the 21 july 2017 for an initial £8 million, he liked the number 26 as that was the only number available when he joined Dundee United, 32 this coming march 2026.

24 Jun 2025 18:55:25
Hato isn’t coming to sit on the bench.

24 Jun 2025 19:15:12
Beck is valued under2M on transfermarkt. I would think he might prefer to go to Wrexham (on loan? ) seeing he is from there?

24 Jun 2025 20:01:46
It’ll be interesting to see what Slot makes of Beck, Chambersxand Scanlon in pre-season, especially if we let Robbo and perhaps Tsimi leave (if they want to)

As an aside @Zed, how much would you have accepted for Quansah, Saul a month or so ago? I’m interested in your opinion.

24 Jun 2025 20:13:27
He might get a run out in pre season then go Beck out on loan.

24 Jun 2025 20:21:18
WDW, I would’ve been laughed off the boards for saying that both Quansah and Elliot are £30-£50m players.

I’ve genuinely believed that they are that sort of price when you look at the fact that they have had a grounding in our team, are both HG and their ages.

Look at transfers in recent history of players their age and younger who are HG - Lavia sticks out for me at £50m - and you’ll see why so many clubs are prepared to spend so high.

What I am surprised by with Quansah is that Leverkusen paid so much - not HG in Germany. But it may all have been linked with the Wirtz transaction too.

25 Jun 2025 00:01:12
Beck is older than Kerkez I don’t think he’ll get enough games to stay. Dundee and Blackburn fans were both very happy with him I’d be looking for 10m.
