Not sure what happened to our supposed interest in Litaro Martinez anyone?

We’ll know more when there is a new episode of desperate scousewives. These things take time.

25 Jun 2025 15:11:25
He's playing at the club world cup. If there's anything into the rumours nothing is happening before that is over ?.

25 Jun 2025 15:16:36
It’s not even July yet mate please.

25 Jun 2025 15:26:02
We’re monitoring him closely.

25 Jun 2025 15:36:22
There hasn’t even been any loose reports linking us to him, so I doubt there is anything in those rumours.

25 Jun 2025 15:43:12
And we need to offload Nunez first.

25 Jun 2025 15:47:05
It was fictional.

Lautaro makes the most sense the more I think about it.

Isak has to be given little defensive responsibility due to his injuries needing to be managed. But Salah is already given a lot of slack in that regard so how would our press look with both of them?

Alvarez will work hard and is a better goalscorer than anyone we’re linked with except Isak, but by all accounts his wife does not like England. As we all know, what the missus says usually goes.

Meanwhile, Osimhen might work hard to win the ball back, but he’ll also go to the AFCON. I’d still say he’s a better fit than Isak, but that possibility of losing 2 key players for 3-6 games is a risk. A risk I would take if there wasn’t a better option.

Lautaro on the other hand will work hard, will score goals, has a missus seemingly close to Macca’s (I believe in SlotworkOranje / the Desperate Scousewives) and he doesn’t go to the AFCON. It all lines up if Inter Milan are prepared to sell.

“Makes the most sense”

Nope, you just like him. When honestly appraised through the lens of what has happened before it make no sense.
Liverpool don’t target players his age regardless of how much you want to ignore that simple truth. Liverpool don’t do what you want them to do.
He’s 28 in Aug. There will be no sell on. We won’t spend massive money on a player that age.

And yes, I know in the grand scheme of things he’s “not old” but given the tick boxes Liverpool use …. he is.

And he’s not that good.

25 Jun 2025 16:22:00
WhyOwhy, well it’s your opinion that he’s not good.
I think he’s very good.

Mk is right it makes the most sense. Financially also.
Bring a young striker into. So when Martinez is old and useless at 32 lol, the young lad is ready to step in.
Danns? Or stassin as Ed keeps mentioning.

Simple.

25 Jun 2025 16:30:34
28 isn’t old why0why. Also I’d like to introduce you to Endo, Thiago, Klavan, Toure, Adrian, Milner etc. Were they signed with sell on value in mind? Thiago was one of our highest paid players and cost about £25m. A few months ago people were saying we don’t spend big money on players like Wirtz and that the Caicedo bid a couple of years ago was just for show.

Simply put, my viewpoint is purely on why he fits in as a player based on how I think he’d perform with the players already at the club to help us win football matches. Whereas your view on why he doesn’t fit seems to be all about the financial side of things based on an anti-FSG conspiracy theory.

I could just as easily say it sounds like you just don’t like him.

25 Jun 2025 16:41:09
Well he’s not, but some people also like Steps or Harry Styles.

But the head of data in the transfer committee Ian Graham confirmed the clubs policy is not to sign anyone over 24

That’s not my opinion. That’s not how I feel, it’s what they do.

Thiago and Chiesa were weird exceptions that actually reinforced that logic. If he was 23-25 it might make sense…. it doesn’t unless Liverpool have changed their policy.

How old are Frimpong, Wirtz and Kerkez. Did you notice we had no interest in Robinson at Fulham…he’s 28 but had a comparable season to Kerkez, right?

25 Jun 2025 16:49:49
Virgil Van Dyke Aged 33
Mohamed Salah Aged 33
Federico Chiesa Aged 28 on 25 October 2025.

Surely that verifies " if you're old enough, you're good enough"

LFC don't look at your age, they look at your Curriculim Vitae (Past History) always have, always will thankfully.

"Yours Sincerely" James Milner (I was 29 when I signed)

25 Jun 2025 16:53:05
Toure, pre-FSG and their new TC.
Klavan, Adrian, Milner, Thiago and Endo…. brilliant point, you’ve got me.
Except they were either free, stop gaps or dirt cheap. I didn’t think that needed clarity.

But here goes, if a player is going to cost massive money, the target age is 24.

And again, so you understand (I’ve only repeated this 3 times now) I know 28 isn’t old. It is when it comes to Liverpool and when they pay big money for a player because as a club they price in the sell on as part of the expenditure justification.

AGAIN - NOT OLF FOR A HUMAN, OLD FOR A LIVERPOOL SIGNING THAT REQUIRES SIGNIFICANT EXPENDITURE.

As to the player. You need to be quick to play for Liverpools front line. Fact.
He’s not.
You need to be a pressing machine. He played us, saw Virgil was going for the same ball as him which was a 60/ 40 in his favour and he pulled out. He chickened out. That’s not a Liverpool player. It might be to you but if you don’t want to press because you think you won’t win the ball…. have you heard of Man United?

25 Jun 2025 17:03:02
Why0why - Isak is soon to be 26 so that rules him out. You do know Ian Graham doesn't work for the club anymore? And also other posters can have their own opinion and it's just as valid as yours? If MK thinks martinez is a good fit who are tou to tell him otherwise? Disagreement and banter is fine but please don't tell a person what their thinking. Out of interest who would be your pick for a striker?

25 Jun 2025 17:08:45
Whyowhy does have two good points, Martinez is too old for liverpool to target fo big money. MK i like a lot of the players you listed but all but one were signed for a tiny fraction of what Martinez would cost. Even Thiago was less than half of what it would take. And secondly i've just never really thought he was that good albeit i havnt seen a huge amount of him over the years.

25 Jun 2025 17:09:13
Your way of looking at this is skewed because the current striker market is lacking in quality over consistent seasons in the lower age group so Laurato stands out as he is a World Cup and multiple trophy winner who consistent scores in a poor team in a defensive league and is at his peak . you cannot seriously compare that with the left back situation as there is many that have quality. Laurato would be a prudent move and upgrade on Nunez jota Fede especially on a 3 year deal Italy would have him back after no problem Safer bet than Isac who has only hit good numbers in the last 3 years.

25 Jun 2025 17:38:29
As much as I loved Thiago as a player. His signing is hardly one to shine a positive light on signing slightly older players. He was never available!

25 Jun 2025 17:49:24
Amazing that Ian Graham still dictates our transfer policy even when he's not employed by the club anymore!

25 Jun 2025 17:54:09
Why0why, do you go out of your way to be obnoxious or is it a natural thing? . the I’m right and you’re wrong vibes don’t work on rumour sites.

25 Jun 2025 16:35:44
Martinez is slow and not good enough imo. A very hard pass. Would rather stick and get a youngster in.

25 Jun 2025 19:45:07
Mk- I love your posts mate. Even if I (sometimes) don’t agree with you, there is always a well constructed argument or point and because I’m fairly basic- I listen. As I’m sure everyone else does. Looking forward to the day the eds make you…. an ed. (if they haven’t already) Never change mate.

{Ed025's Note - thats a really nice thing to say about another poster aoe, kudos mate, but he cant become an ED because our masonic handshake is very hard to learn and he is far too sensible.. :)

25 Jun 2025 20:40:04
Its nice to be nice ed25. But in fairness- the lad (like yourself) is a bit of a legend. I do give him sh*t about the goals he gave away in the match a few years ago- so every now and then its just nice to balance the books.

{Ed025's Note - it is nice to be nice aoe, the world would be a far better place if there were more people like you mate..

25 Jun 2025 21:52:51
Its all an act ed25. Playing the part of a gent when really I’m a troll. I’m in it for the long game and eventually when I get popular enough- I’ll take tristan out. He’ll never see it coming. Just don’t tell anyone and there will be a place for you at my side. How does real ed1 sound as a profile name? It can be yours….

{Ed025's Note - thanks but no thanks aoe, im like Colin Harvey mate im quite happy to be in the shadows...more of a Robin than a Batman.. :)

25 Jun 2025 21:53:12
Also- what a lovely reply mate. Thank you for making my day.
