Hi Ed's just wanted to ask if you knew if there has been any interest in Jones this window? I vaguely remember Villa being interested a couple of seasons back, but may be wrong.

{Ed001's Note - Liverpool are not looking to move him on.}

Agree2 Disagree9

Don’t see why we would either. Got his flaws but can cover any role In Midfield and probably won’t kick up a fuss not being first choice.

Ed001, I’ve been racking my brains as to why the club would keep Jones and not Elliot.

They’re both versatile across a number of positions, both love the club.

They’re only thing I can think of is that they would happily keep both, but Elliot wants more game time, and Jones is happy to not be a starter?

What’s your view?

{Ed001's Note - you have answered it.}

30 Jun 2025 22:03:10
Any takers for Arne Slot? I’m kind of over him.

30 Jun 2025 22:27:15
Because Jones is better than Elliott Zed. It’s that simple for me.

Jones has had some really good spells and until his sending off against Spurs the season before last he was first choice. Since then he’s been someone we can rely on to do a job when needed. He’s even played right back!

Elliott has had moments but whenever he starts we are considerably weaker and way more vulnerable defensively. We all had high hopes for Harvey but he hasn’t progressed at all. In fact he’s probably regressed.

Jones is far from perfect but he’s head and shoulders above Elliott in every aspect.

30 Jun 2025 22:38:45
Also I vaguely remember seeing that jones salary is quite a bit less than Elliot’s, for me it seems that jones is happy playing for his boyhood club and wants to remain here for his prime years at least.

30 Jun 2025 22:47:44
Also Elliot can’t play CM/ DM which is the area we need cover. Jones can as well as being able to play the forward positions - much more useful player to have. Sell Elliot with a buyback. Don’t think he’ll ever hit the heights for us to use it but will appease everyone who doesn’t want him sold.

30 Jun 2025 22:52:56
I think he'll be at Everton by Christmas Why0Why.

30 Jun 2025 23:12:29
Comparisons are often made between Jones and Elliot, but they are completely different players.
I would trust Jones to play in positions I would never trust Harvey in.

01 Jul 2025 00:07:15
I would honestly keep both Elliot and Jones. Not necessarily first eleven but both are excellent squad players.

30 Jun 2025 23:44:27
Ed025 will tell you he stinks, but I think he didn't like it when Jones stick up for his team when when Everton seemingly won a trophy for drawing us at Goodison. : p.

{Ed025's Note - that was the only thing he done of note all game KC, i hope you keep him and bring a few more like him in mate...it will give us all a chance.. :)

01 Jul 2025 03:06:50
Jones for me is a confidence player. The more he plays the more confident he is and thus more willing to take the chance on the those forward passes that we long for him to make. When he is in the open, he is much more likely to make a key pass because he doesn't have to think - just does it. When deep, he overthinks it and the opportunity closes. I just can't see him getting the chance with us for an extended run of games. If he were to go to another side and made first choice I could see him shining. Having said that, he makes a good cheap bench option so the selfish part of me is happy that he is ok with staying.

01 Jul 2025 08:02:18
If my hand was forced I would rather build a team around Elliott than Jones. Jones is marginally quicker and I mean marginally. Sure he can do a few positions by not very well.

01 Jul 2025 09:19:08
Elliot is a better player than Jones but Jones is a much better fit for the squad. I'd happily keep both but Elliot won't get the game-time he needs and wants so it is regrettably the best for everybody if he moves on.

There are players some people look at and just don’t get it. I saw people who didn’t understand what Thiago did, what Gini did, what Ronnie Whealan did…. even what Mac10 does. A player who is always up with play, can take the ball under a press and keep possession, who can operate in multiple positions, has a sure first touch, is two footed and has exceptionally high fitness levels is incredibly useful.

He’s 24 this season, he know enters his best years and we know his best position.

Hes the kind of player the Spanish FA adore. Possession, possession, possession.
He sometimes needs to get rid earlier. That will improve with games and age. He played so many CL games away for us at good clubs that we won.

He’s a very good option.

01 Jul 2025 11:12:00
I like Jones and he is a good option and as you say he does have a sure first touch. His problem is that he then has a second touch, and a third touch, and a fourth touch, and a fifth touch. just pass the f*#king ball man!

01 Jul 2025 11:18:23
I’d agree with that Why. People tend to look at the obvious attributes that Elliott has, like his technical ability which is probably slightly better than Jones’s.

What they don’t look at is how effective he is in the team using the attributes he has.

Elliott has been completely ineffective when he’s played. Yes he has ability but he just doesn’t use it to affect games anywhere near enough.

I don’t care how much ability someone has I just care if they can fit into the team and affect games consistently in a positive way. Jones can, Elliott can’t. It’s that simple.

01 Jul 2025 11:31:02
I think if Elliott had 20 games in a row we’d be thinking “hmmmm, isn’t he good” - but the players ahead of him do something he can’t.

Mo scores and assists at a higher rate than any human in Europe, so he’s not taking his spot.
Szbobby runs three marathons a game and does Trent and Mo’s defending for them allowing them their freedom to be what they are. Elliott can’t do that either.

Harvey is the ideal Spurs player. He’d be a new Pienaar for Moyes. He’s brilliant, but now we have Wirtz, Szbobby and Mo in the places you’d play him. So he ain’t playing.

Jones can cover Grav/ Endo and Mac10 without a huge drop off. Tuchel is a good coach, I don’t like him, but he’s a good coach. He will play Jones loads.
Klopp played him, Arne plays him as does Tuchel. Odds are, he’s a good player who will get better.

{Ed025's Note - lets be honest WOW...he cant get any worse..

01 Jul 2025 11:54:40
He could, he could sign for Everton and drift into obscurity.

Is it true DCL just signed for Prescott Cables? Is he ready for that level?

{Ed025's Note - hes already in obscurity WOW, but i suppose you do need squad players mate..but so do Accrington and i think thats more his level, DCL will be leaving for a new challenge...to see if other clubs treatment tables are as comfortable as ours..

01 Jul 2025 12:25:07
Yeah mate. England international who won the league in April.
He’s won more Champions Leagues than your entire club.

{Ed025's Note - the guy gets away with murder for me WOW, but some supporters do rate him...but they are usually captured very quickly and put back in their respected facility mate.. :)

01 Jul 2025 13:05:50
All bigging jones up aren’t we? He’s average at best. We know his best position? I guess you mean the bench or treatment table. Best position for him is another club. He’s had time, atleast Harvey wants regular game time and forge a career for himself.

01 Jul 2025 13:29:32
Yeah. He started 13 Prem games.
Won 11.
Played as a sub in 20 more games. Lost one.

Started four out of eight CL games.
Won all four.

Played 46 games this season. Doesn’t sound that injured.

I know facts are a real pain sometimes…but they are important.

01 Jul 2025 16:38:14
Wasnt to bad when he whipped one in the top corner to help beat your best 11 with most of our kids playing was he 25 ;-)
