Giorgi Mamardashvili officially joins the club today, welcome to LFC lad, can't wait to. see this guy in action in preseason.
Should get plenty of games in the upcoming season with Alli liable to a few injuries each season.

Ali to have perfect injury record.

I'm intrigued to see the guy play. Seems like a quality backup but very mixed opinions on here so I'm looking forward to seeing him in the team with my own eyes before passing judgement.
Roll on round 3 of the league cup so he can make his full debut!

Fit Alisson gives another level of confidence like we have a 12th man in the team. Would be good to see Alisson have his best year.
01 Jul 2025 14:52:54
Does he stay as a backup or go out on loan?

Not only is he a six foot six outstanding goalkeeping prospect who saved a penalty in the valencia 2-1 win versus real madrid earlier on in the la liga last season.
He was also Arnes first signing, Why?
Arne before he even took his first pre-season training session, instantaneously realised that Kelleher would be in the last year of his contract yesterday similar as Konate is now, so straight away Arne bought Mamardashvili also knowing he will develop into a top class goalkeeper for £25 Million plus £4 Mill adds, he also knew he would probably? get a transfer fee for Kelleher ( who had the potential to go for nothing at the end of the coming season 25-26) Arne got a transfer fee of an initial £12.5 Million plus add on which could net LFC 18 Million, obviously it's low ball but the time frames was extremely tight, and half a loaf is always better than none and ensuing protracted talks.
I don't think Arne accepted that Kelleher would do the dirty on the club, but players agents have different agendas, so Arne made sure he was in control of the deal, as going for free would always be on the table, hence the low fee.
Though Arne probably did the maths and thought well even if Kelleher does not achieve the potential £18 Million, and only the £12.5 Million initial fee, I could have a World Class GK for worst case circa £16 Million, best case £11 Million, who could stay for as long as Becker, but would not cost the £70 Million for Becker saving the club potentially £54-£59 Million using Beckers transfer figures. Arne's forward thinking and wisdom is second to none, absolutely outstanding vision and football acumen.
And it gets even better! Arne now fully realises that the only way you can truly defeat a Bosman free transfer is to buy like for like or even better, that way the control is fully with the club, Liverpool Football Club has always replaced great players Keegan, Dalglish, Torres, Suarez and under Arne it will continue to do so, we will never accept second place! it's never been in our DNA since Shanks.
And it gets even better! man city 3-Al HILAL "FOUR"
Absolutely HI-LAL-"arious" and is even better than "HA-HA"-Land".

I'm almost absolutely sure that slot wasn't the one who chose mamardashvili.

I thought Arne was head coach, 007.
01 Jul 2025 15:46:47
007 sometimes I read your posts and think you might be a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Either that or I am too young to understand your sense of humour.

I think Alisson/ Mamardashvilli will be like when Chelsea had Cech/ Courtois at the same time. Mamardashvilli will sooner or later takeover.

PB, He's seen the problem and had it resolved like he wanted.
Hello Rigsby, I'm most sure Arne has the final casting vote in any transfer deal just like Jurgen, as he must stipulate what players he wants to play the system he wants! When he was on the sidelines watching Kerkez, do you not think he was also acting like a scout.
01 Jul 2025 16:34:53
GM should be a good addition, hoping CK does well also at his new club.

Hello Navy Keith,
Laughing is always better than crying, especially on a Pun-ic!
You are too young to remember but we had a player called Torben Piechnik, lettuce have no more of him.

I watched him a lot last season to see what the fuss was.
He's a different kind of keeper to Allison. Allison is a sweeper keeper, rushing out to stop attacks. Giorgi is a stand up keeper who mostly stays on his line. His shot stopping is excellent and what I like the most is he doesn't tend to parry shots back across the box for an easy tap in. They're pushed clear or wide which is always an excellent habit for a keeper.
On crosses he punches, which I don't like I'd rather they catch like Allison but he does punch clear and isn't afraid to claim the ball. That's in Spanish football though where balls under his bar aren't being pumped in 20 times a match for some lanky slab to bully into the goal so we'll see how he handles it here.
Lastly there is distribution, his long range distribution is not even close to allis but short range is generally very good and most of th time makes it past the first presser. I actually think this will benefit is a lot since slot prefers short range passing to sweeping long range missiles like Trent and Alli often do.
Personally I think Giorgi will be an excellent addition and a good person eventual replacement for alli.

A few sandwiches short?
He's the site's Rain Man.
01 Jul 2025 23:38:15
Nevada, Alisson has also started punching crosses clear in the past season or so instead of trying to catch. It has obviously been coached into him probably based on risk percentages.
01 Jul 2025 23:52:37
Nevada - one thing you didn't mention about Marma is that whilst he is nowhere near as comfortable with the ball at his feet (he won't be doing cruyff turns) his throwing is way better. Why kick the ball long to Salah when you can throw it instead ;-)
