Terribly sad and shocking news. Just feeling numb. Thoughts and prayers with his family, Portugal, LFC and all their supporters ? ❤️ ⚽️.
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE.

03 Jul 2025 10:55:05
Absolutely shocking news - mortified! Only married a few weeks ago and leaves a wife and three beautiful children! The winning goal in the 4-3 against Spurs will live long in the memory! RIP our Number 20!??.

03 Jul 2025 10:55:08
Sincere condolences! Life is so transient and unpredictable. Spending time with love ones comes first.

With a life passing away, life perspective is put in order.
Peace and comfort with family of Jota.

03 Jul 2025 10:57:20
I have no words just tremendous sadness.
Thoughts and prayers are with the family.

RIP and God Bless
YNWA.

He was a genuinely good person, a superb professional, won the lot with us, never on the front page, when he got injured he just put the work in and came back. He would do a job anywhere on the pitch when asked and contributed hugely to the successes we have had since we signed him.

A massive loss to football, but more so to his young family.

Rest in peace Diogo and Andre.

It is so shockingly sad. depressing.
Life is so fragile, isn't it.

I'm still in disbelief that he's no longer with us. YNWA Jota.

Devastating news. Gone far too soon.

RIP Diogo, better than figo don't ya know. YNWA.

03 Jul 2025 12:03:10
Lost for words. My prayers are with him, his family and the club as they grieve this tragedy. RIP.

03 Jul 2025 12:20:58
Sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

03 Jul 2025 12:33:10
I’m seeing it everywhere but I still can’t believe it’s happened.

I’m not a crier but I shed a tear when they showed him laughing with Chiesa and lifting the trophy only a month ago.

Life is so, so fragile we shouldn’t take anything for granted. Hold your loved ones close and be kind to all others. You never know when your time is up.

Rest in peace Diogo, you were a top player and an even better man. Today the world is a worse place because you are not in it. Heartfelt condolences to his friends and family and all football fans across the world. This has really knocked me for six and I’m sure it has with countless others too.

Be there for each other and always remember Diogo Jota fondly. Sing his song at the top of your lungs because he is one of us and will always be remembered and celebrated.

YNWA.

03 Jul 2025 12:36:37
Blessings to both of the boys relatives, I am so sorry for your losses. Diogo's song will be ringing around stadiums for years to come.

03 Jul 2025 12:53:11
Would like to see them retire the number 20.

If his family gives their blessing (when the time is right to ask), it would be good to see a memorial kept at Anfield for him so that he is forever with us.

YNWA.

03 Jul 2025 12:57:42
I'm completely shocked. Devastated for his wife and 3 kids.

03 Jul 2025 13:24:22
Such a shame, puts life in perspective. Rest in Peace Diogo.

I saw a great suggestion in a comment on a video i was watching that the number 20 jersey should be retired at Liverpool. We signed him in 2020, he won number 20 with us and wore the number 20 shirt

Would be a fitting tribute to a player that gave everything.

03 Jul 2025 13:55:16
RIP Diogo YNWA.

03 Jul 2025 14:15:30
So so sad. Hard to put into words the shock and sadness. RIP and prayers with his family.

03 Jul 2025 14:23:18
This is terrible news. So tragic, a successful athlete in their prime leaves behind a wife and 3 children, and a mother loses her two sons. Incomprehensible. My heart goes out to them, so utterly devastating.

03 Jul 2025 16:21:30
Heartbreaking shocking news. Rest in peace diogo and your brother forever in our hearts.

03 Jul 2025 17:25:51
Hope everyone keeping their chins up. I like to think of Diogo as a legend who got to live out his dream at the best club in the world. I want to celebrate his success in life rather than his untimely passing. May his legend live on, I know it will because he will always be remembered and his family will always be supported by this great club and it’s amazing fans. YNWA.

03 Jul 2025 17:51:45
Never cried over any sportsman. But today, at 66yrs old, i bawlled like a baby RIP champ.

03 Jul 2025 18:10:33
So sad to hear the news about Diogo and his brother Andre. Away on holiday with the 3 kids and we all shed a little tear when I told them. He seemed like a really good guy both on and off the pitch.

Devastated for his wife Rute and his 3 gorgeous kids. Hard to believe they only got married 11 days ago. It’s a no brainer for me to retire the number 20 jersey and I’m sure the club will do the classy thing as usual.

Rest easy Diogo and Andre or as we’d say in Ireland ‘At dheis De go raibh a an am dilis’ YNWA ❤️.

03 Jul 2025 19:08:57
I haven't cried over any footballer, until today. 62 yrs old, Red all my life. He wore the number 20 oh his name is DIOGO. May his family never walk alone.

03 Jul 2025 20:21:10
So very very sad that two young men’s life’s have been tragically taken my thoughts are with his family his poor parents his wife and children.
You’ll never be forgotten Diogo you’ll always be a red and you’ll never walk alone.

03 Jul 2025 20:28:54
StevieP62, crying is nothing to be ashamed of either. I was in a zoom meeting at work and a friend messaged me the bad news and had to turn my camera off as I could feel myself welling up. It’s hard not to be upset and devastated that someone who brought so much joy to us is suddenly gone and way before their time. I’d be surprised if anyone on these pages or in the fanbase didn’t.

03 Jul 2025 22:25:45
I wasn’t born for Hillsborough so I’ll never know what it felt like at the time, although I’ve lived through the time of fighting for justice and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. On this occasion this is the worst I’ve ever felt regarding football and the club. A man who has no idea who I am but gave so many fond memories including the first goal of a title winning season. I hope he has an eternal resting place in Shanks/ Paisley 11 up there with the knowledge of how one of his goals changed a whole day, week, month, year, life for some people, and his family are forever looked after especially in this moment. YNWA Diogo.

04 Jul 2025 06:49:25
RIP Diogo Jota YNWA.

04 Jul 2025 08:14:17
Still hasn't sunk in about Diogo and his brother. A truly awful tragedy for the family, losing your two only children in a single accident.

04 Jul 2025 11:31:49
Away at the moment camping with bad reception but just seeing the news. I can't believe it, lost for words. Devastated for the wife and 3 kids he leaves behind and doesn't get to see grow into adults. I pray for peace over them.

04 Jul 2025 22:17:27
This is just devastating and sad beyond words. Second day I've woke up just refusing to believe this terrible news. The video the club released was just perfect and I don't think anyone could watch that without the tears flowing.

World literally at his feet and now he's gone. Prayers, love and thoughts with his family and friends. I know the club and fans alike will find many incredible ways to honour him. My hope is that will bring his loved ones comfort in this terrible loss for us all and especially them. Heartbreaking for us all.

Rest in peace Diogo with your beloved brother Andre. God bless you both and your families.
