Diaz for Kane swap deal with Bayern being reported online with Bayern moving for Nick Woltemade as Kanes replacement.

Agree7 Disagree0

06 Jul 2025 18:41:17
He's a proven goalscorer, not sure how I feel about it though. Short term fix but options are limited. Not even sure on his age now.

06 Jul 2025 18:45:13
Swap deals very rarely happen. Kane is 31 years old.

06 Jul 2025 18:54:57
Hope not.

06 Jul 2025 18:57:23
Why would we do that!

06 Jul 2025 19:00:39
Nothing in this at all. Looks to be an opinion of a former Tottenham scout from March that he wants to return to the premier league with us or Man Utd likely then the article goes on to suggest a swap deal.

06 Jul 2025 19:27:23
I wouldn’t sell him to bring in some young player that’s not as good as him. If he goes it has to mean a top player is coming in. Diaz is great but Kane is a far far better player he’d definitely get 30 goals for us the next few seasons. It won’t happen but why are so many against the thought of it?

06 Jul 2025 19:36:51
Kane is a goal machine, I’ve said it all summer. Get him signed on a two year deal with an optional third. This guy will want to break the PL record. Can’t see it happening but a no brainer for me.

06 Jul 2025 20:30:55
Jump at it, win the lot for jota and Andre, Kanes got a few years left in him so we could get a project type striker too to learn from. He’ll break the goal scoring record and win a trophy in England/ europe. Eveyone wins.

06 Jul 2025 20:54:48
My personal view is that Kane could be special for us.

He has experience of being a leader (is he the best captain? No, but he carried Spurs for a number of years and dragged them up from mid-table to challenging for Europe), he's also one of the best finishers in Europe. He doesn't have speed, but with speedy wingers and a top class No 10 behind him, he doesn't need it as much.

He will be very personally motivated too, chasing down Shearer's record.

Yes, he will be expensive in terms of both wages (albeit I don't think he will want the c£400k he gets at Bayern, albeit not far off) and in terms of transfer fee (swap for Diaz, however it's structured implies around £70m) but he is clearly premiership proven and is still one of the best strikers in the world.

Frode has it right - 2 year with option of 3rd. Let's get the next 2 titles in the bag and then use Kane to help train up the next gen like Rushie did for Fowler!

As an aside, it feels good to get back to this again. I still can't process properly what has happened in the last few days and find myself constantly on the verge of tears for the family and those little kids. Life sucks sometimes.

06 Jul 2025 21:10:32
Kane is a dinosaur. No pace, no finesse, little tactical awareness, constantly out of position, poor leadership skills. Look at England, they will never win anything with Kane in the team. Southgate got a knighthood for failing for 8 years with a smile and a marks and spencer waistcoat, Kane was a terrible for choice for captain. I have nothing good to say about him. Penalties and squeaking about being unlucky. Never, he is proper crap!

06 Jul 2025 21:21:03
Where's the barf emoji for this one?

06 Jul 2025 21:34:29
450 goals as a senior pro, yep Kane’s ‘proper crap’.

06 Jul 2025 22:00:07
FYI (source: Footystats. org) :

Salah - 646 games played, 329 goals of which 47 are pens. so net of pens, 282 goals in 646 games with a further 146 assists. 0.66 non-pen G/ A per game.

Kane - 677 GP, 434 G incl 80 pens. 100 assists. So 354 non-pen goals and 100 assists in 677 games. 0.67 non-pen G/ A per game.

06 Jul 2025 22:01:53
You can’t deny Kane is a brilliant goal scorer but I really can’t stand the guy.

The thought of him in a Liverpool shirt makes me feel physically sick.

06 Jul 2025 22:04:58
But, as Ernest Millar said above, does seem to be linked to throwaway comments by a Spurs scout from March.

Probably won't happen, but I could certainly see it working if it did.

06 Jul 2025 22:12:32
I prefer Diaz over Kane, Kane is winding his career down.

06 Jul 2025 22:21:43
Not going to happen.

06 Jul 2025 22:26:43
Squeeze 80 goals over 2 season from him, and it's done.

06 Jul 2025 22:29:50
Kane isn’t a I don’t nothing down he’s still smashing it. I care nothing about finances it’s not my money, only money I care about is that that supports jotas family. Kane would smash it at us and if this isn’t some BS he’d smash it at Liverpool that’s just fact.

07 Jul 2025 00:16:40
You need to ask yourselves why Bayern would happily swap Kane for Diaz. One of them works his backside off every game, the other uses his backside as a weapon.
I loved Gary McAllister but his signing was a kind of curse in that people think any player who is over the hill has a chance of reproducing top form for us in their autumn years. We don’t need Kane for 2 years any more than we didn't need Tiago. This team will make goalscoring opportunities for anyone so get a young striker for the future rather than an expensive dinosaur one injury away from retirement.

07 Jul 2025 02:02:23
I would think if Diaz goes, then Rodrygo would become an option again.

It looks like a lot of potential flux. Wirtz is a great signing, but there is a lot of strengthening to do. It looks like the buzz around some of the youngsters has died down a bit (Ait-Boudlal, Zeze, Hato) . Guehi is the popular rumor now. But who knows what is really happening behind the scenes?

It will be interesting to see what happens.

07 Jul 2025 03:13:37
Kane is a goal scorer but he seems to be cursed, he would bag 30 goals and yet somehow we will lose the league.

07 Jul 2025 05:30:14
Bit of an exaggeration to say that there is a 'lot of strengthening to do', dbav, if we have a lot of strengthening to do what about everybody else in the league? Certainly we need a top class number 9, maybe a midfielder to rotate with Grav, a young and promising center half to learn from and take over from virgil in the long run, somebody to bed in and eventually take over from Mo (could that be Frimpong? ), but that's about it, and the latter three aren't even absolutely top priorities right now, if we wait till January or next summer to get those done I don't think it would be an absolute disaster.

07 Jul 2025 06:38:50
Kane doesn't have the speed to get in behind players not press players. He would also be dropping into the same space that Wirtz would be occupying so i just can't see this signing myself. But then again, Slot has shown himself to be way better tactically than me so what would i know ;-) However if slot doesn't approve it then it would be a signing that would go pear shaped very quickly.

07 Jul 2025 07:14:22
For the likely cost and age profile this has no chance of happening in my opinion.

07 Jul 2025 07:22:40
Once you leave the premier league in your 30’s for a slower league, as an outfield player you’re not coming back at the highest level. Sorry.

07 Jul 2025 08:10:38
Thats a UTD purchase if ever there was one.

07 Jul 2025 08:39:13
People need to stop and think what they are typing it’s ludicrous.
Kane is 31 his legs are about to go anytime soon.
I’d rather have Nunez than kane.

07 Jul 2025 09:17:03
I personally would not swap Diaz for kane. He wouldn’t suit our system, the Premier League is much more physical than the Bundesliga and he would’nt be on penalties here as there’s no way Mo is giving that up.

It’s a hard pass for me.

Nevertheless, hindsight has definitely shown that Bayern were too eager to let Lewandowski leave, as he has scored plenty of goals at Barca.

07 Jul 2025 10:14:24
Would be a no for me, even with a dominant Bayern smashing teams the goals were drying up for Kane towards the end of last season. His lack of pace really gets shown up for England, i think it would be only worse in the Premier League.

07 Jul 2025 11:08:50
No thanks.

07 Jul 2025 12:16:14
If Diaz wants out as it seems he may then cash in now.
Why not Kane for a year, let him win his PL title and hope Isak holds out on a new contract for 26/ 27 and get him for a more realistic price.

07 Jul 2025 12:20:19
He’s 32 in 3 weeks time.

07 Jul 2025 14:02:02
@PatrikBurgher, I think that's fair. My thought was that Nunez is likely to go, and Diaz may leave as well (though I'm not convinced he will) . That's 3 potentially players that have to be replaced up front. Maybe Danns takes one of those spots, but you're still looking at at least 2 new players if Diaz leaves.

On top of that, I would expect 1 LB to go, Quansah is already gone, Elliot is likely to leave, and there's uncertainty around Konate. So you are potentially looking at adding a 9, 2 wings, and a CB.

I understand that not all of those players will leave, but, in my opinion, there is still a decent amount of work to do.

07 Jul 2025 14:48:58
If you say Bundesliga is slow and not physical you really should check out a game or two. Refs tend to let things go a fair bit further than the PL, and gegenpressing is after all a German invention.

That said, Kane would surely score a fair few for us, but the jinx people, the jinx!

{Ed077's Note - maybe the Bundesliga win puts an end to the curse?

07 Jul 2025 14:58:10
Swerve Kane. he looks like the kid of dawsons creek.

08 Jul 2025 08:14:24
He’d definitely score 20+ goals for us if we signed him - he’s the best ‘goal hanger’ of his generation. That said, I’d prefer someone who’s about 10 years younger, doesn’t have dodgy ankles, who cam lead the press from the front and who has the potential to be a star for the club, and who wants to be here because he loves the club rather than just the money.
