The passing of Jota has shifted plans with the forward areas. Due this the club don't want to let Diaz leave but if he tries to force the move we won't stand in his way, if the price is met. Nunez, we won't sell unless the valuation is met. Chiesa is the same.

Apparently the targets for the forward area has changed but if we get any encouragement we will be in for Isak. We also won't take a risk on a forward, hence why Ektike, Sesko and Goyekores are not seen as options. I have no info on who we are looking at yet.

I'm still expecting Guehi to turn up before the end of the window.

Tsimikas, Morton, Doak, Elliot will all be shifted at some point.

Thanks for the update. Are we still looking at signing a forward or is that unlikely now?

11 Jul 2025 10:22:56
Cheers fields. let's hope Isak asks to leave.

If not we'll just go again. I'm buzzing to see Wirtz play if I'm totally honest!

11 Jul 2025 10:29:41
We are still after a stiker or perhaps 2. I'm trying to find some more info out Kha.

If they sign Ekitike, it would suggest they are open to moving him on 2shoes. The way the landscape is at the moment, its just made that deal a bit more difficult 2shoes. Aye Wirtz is going to be unbelievable.

Despite Nunez’s poor attitude last season, there is no guarantee that Ekitike, Goyekores or Sesko would out-score him this season. Isak is too much of an injury risk and the likes of Kane, Lewendowski and Vardy are just not up to the pace of the PL these days. Unless we pull an unknown rabbit out the hat we might be best sticking with Darwin and giving him a final chance to prove what he is capable of.
A motivated, confident Darwin Nunez gets us 20 goals a season playing alongside Mo, Flo and (Gak) Po. It would be a testament to Slots coaching abilities if he is able to bring out the more ruthless aggressive side that we see in glimpses, if Darwin stays.
Then again, it’s quite likely Slot just views him as a lost cause and spends his energy on more deserving players.

11 Jul 2025 10:38:10
I'd honestly love to see Danns get quite a few games this season, give him a run of games and we'll see his lethal side.

11 Jul 2025 10:44:49
Thanks thefields. Do you have any info about our valuation of Diaz, Nunez and Chiesa?

11 Jul 2025 10:47:35
Mo, Flo and Po - now those are AnfieldTubbies I could get behind!

11 Jul 2025 10:48:45
Darwin does not get us 20 goals a season for us in any scenario. I have never seen such a poor Liverpool player continue to be backed to the extent he is even though he is clearly not good enough and has signed out at the club.

11 Jul 2025 11:05:00
Maybe you can't see the player that others do, Florian, he is not a bad player, he just isn't right for us at this moment in time. A confident Nunez tore pretty much every team Benfica faced in the Champions League the year before he came to us (including us) . He needs confidence, space to attack and the license to run at defenders in space. We can't build our offence around him and we don't really have the time to get everything right to flip the switch in his head, so it's best we part ways, but I insist that he is not by any measure a bad player.

11 Jul 2025 11:06:43
Nunez is a busted flush in a service station toilet that’s on fire. He’s had three years; he’s hardly going to transform into God Mk. II. Slot roasting him for a lack of effort was the final nail. Good luck to him in his future endeavors but they won’t be at Anfield. Somewhere, he’ll shine.

11 Jul 2025 11:27:16
I really don't get why people keep mentioning the Slot roasting. It was in one game where he stopped trying after missing a sitter. The roasting was absolutely deserved and I had made exactly the same comments to the people I was watching the match with. However, that was a one off, you can see his confidence is still lacking but we never saw the same (lack of running) before or since.

So why do people keep bringing that up (unless you are mistaking lack of confidence for lack of effort)?

11 Jul 2025 11:57:33
Nunez scored 15 goals for us in 2022-23, and 18 goals in 2023-24. He also missed a stack.
With a calmer approach and some serious motivation he could easily hit 20 goals. Question is whether he is capable of self-adjustment and/ or whether it can be coached into him.

11 Jul 2025 12:31:15
I agree 100% with PB. Nunez is a good player - he is just completely devoid of confidence.

I do think that is is best for everybody if he can be replaced this summer but only if there is a guaranteed upgrade available (which I don't think there is right now) and if he ends up staying I will continue to cheer him on as a Liverpool player.

I would just also like to add that whatever you think of Nunez you should consider the fact that he is still a person. The way some people on here talk about him is deplorable and I will never understand people talking about our own players like that. You clearly learnt nothing from the tragic events of the last couple of weeks and it saddens me.

I suspect Lucho and Darwin will move on. There seems to be enough demand for them. Obviously the club will try to do that respectfully, but it does feel like it's only heading in one direction.

Chiesa is an interesting one. Could he be convinced to stay another season and get enough game time to secure his Italy place? I think it would be a good move but we shall see what he thinks about that.

It looks like we're waiting on the Isak opportunity. If there's a chance we'll move. If that happens, then you could see us going for Malik Fofana to add depth to the wings.

If the Isak deal doesn't come off, I could see us landing Anthony Gordon and Hugo Ekitike.

So:

Isak and Fofana (w/ Chiesa staying)
or
Ekitike and Gordon (w/ Chiesa staying)

If Chiesa chooses to go then Richard Hughes will have to earn his crust and find a gem. Ed has already mentioned Lucas Stassin. Perhaps Stassin or Georges Mikautadze would fit the bill for a decent fee (although getting two players out of Lyon in one summer sounds unlikely) .

As for midfield. Numbers wise we are ok but much depends on what Slot wants to do with Endo, McConnell and Bajcetic. Ideally, Bajcetic would come back a changed player and is ready to step up. I am sure though we are still watching the situations of Angelo Stiller, Lamine Camara, Adam Wharton and Warren Zaire-Emery.

Cheers Thefields, this is mostly consistent with what I'm getting.

I have tried to refrain from sharing recently out of respect for Diogo (may he rest in peace) but things on the transfer side are definitely picking up again.

Just want to add on the Isak front - Newcastle are currently in discussions with Ekitike, Ollie Watkins, and Dominic Calvert Lewin. I have also been told an initial approach has been made to Dusan Vlahovic's camp, although I have not yet had this stood up by a second source.
But by all accounts, Newcastle are looking to sign TWO of these strikers, not just one. They were hoping to sign Joao Pedro and one of these, but after having missed out on him, they're definitely looking to recruit two strikers. Make of that what you will.

On Ekitike, I think I seem to be getting a little more positive notes than you have here Fields - I completely agree on Sesko and Gyokeres, but I do believe the club could move for Ekitike if they can't get Isak (and provided Frankfurt lower the asking price to about £70m total package)

Also, just in regard to Liverpool's other striker targets, I would keep an eye on Mikautadze of Lyon. He's been mentioned to me by a couple of analysts now who think very highly of him and think he could be good value cover.

And also agree on Guehi, general noise I'm getting from those at the club is that that's pretty much done on the player's side, and the club are just delaying the final steps of agreeing the deal with Palace out of respect for Diogo. Expect that to pick up again in the next week or so.

Baffles me sometimes, people clamouring for Dan’s to get minutes, when he played last people didn’t rate him and said he needed a loan.

11 Jul 2025 13:40:58
I am shocked with the willingness of fans to let Diaz leave and Nunez to stay.

Were we watching the same team last season or am I in the multiverse?

11 Jul 2025 13:47:03
It was actually two games - vs. Villa and Wolves.

Shipley - stop being so sanctimonious. I clearly stated he’d be a good player for someone else and he obviously a nice guy but he has become a busted flush for us.

I don’t think Slot should’ve singled him out after that spell as it’ll be nigh on impossible for Darwin to recover his confidence now at Anfield. He looks mentally away.

11 Jul 2025 14:41:57
Dont think you can coach people the ability to finish at 26/ 27.He hasn't got it, like seriously some of the chances he misses most of us on here could put away.

11 Jul 2025 15:07:23
Yep Florian. The train has left the station a long while ago. The breakneck speed of the Premier League is not for every player.

11 Jul 2025 17:30:22
Yes I’ve been thinking mikautadze was a Liverpool kind of 9. Interesting to hear that.

RIP Diogo and Andre.

@TheFields, the entire squad is going ‘to be shifted at some point’ - think you are on a winner there.
