Hi all,
Liverpool are currently in Hong Kong and had the pleasure to meet with both the higher ups in Red Bird which are invested into FSG (as well as own AC Milan) and also had a conversation with Dynasty Equity which invested directly into Liverpool around 2 years ago.
TLDR but been told by both to be excited not just for Ekitike but for at least one more in the front line. Tried to push them to ask if it was a certain Swedish striker and they just said let's hope so but the deal is tough. All info that's made available many times here but just wanted to share what I've heard.
Another fascinating tidbit of information I found out is that for one reason or another (maybe just how they like to keep track or manage the amortisation of players), FSG like to spend big every 3-4 years then stay relatively down low for the subsequent 3. Happened last time with Alisson/ Virgil and seems this time we're all just happy to be Liverpool fans and basking in the sunshine.
Also been told by Dynasty Equity as they are a fund and must have an idea of exit timelines, they got the deal through their long term relationship between their owner and John Henry (both Bostonians) and expect to exit in the next 3-5 years, likely to the Middle East. Likely this window will be their last big investment if we go by their 4 year cycles before they sell to the next owner.

Oh, and Klopp’s loyalty to players - we did have a larger investment 2 years ago with a new midfield coming in.
It kinda makes sense to do it every 4ish years to allow the team time to gel in between, otherwise the club will always be in transition!

I did think this yesterday maybe fsg are investing all this knowing it only increases our value if we win titles and UCL, most businesses are struggling and I'm sure most of these rich people will know when it's time to sell up and get out, so Eds do let us know when to sell our panini sticker collections.

Not sure what your point is @YnwaKopite. FSG are in the business to make money and to maximise the club value for when they decide to sell. For that to happen the club has to be successful on the playing field and be winning stuff. Win win for the owners and for fans of the club.

For whatever criticism I’ve had I’d FSG, I think it is clear that where they’ve made mistakes they’ve learnt from them, that it is clear they understand the club and and the ethos of the club, from someone who has been heavily critical and sceptical of them in the past, at this point I’d be reluctant to see them go as they’ve brought financial stability, they’ve built us into a world class sporting operation. They’ve created an environment where we have won titles (and yes there could have been more and I think this summer is them releasing the throttle and learning from previous mistakes), they’ve overseen the rebuilding and upgrading of facilities. I’d not be keen to see them leave in favour of some Middle Eastern despot.

I think the OP is referring to the private equity fund divesting, not FSG necessarily. And this is standard practice in PE - a limited term fund (7 or 10 years) where the first half is spent spending the money from the fund and the second half is spent putting the investment into an optimum state for an exit. Bog standard practice.
We should expect many minority shareholding PE funds to slide in and out of the LFC ownership structure, on a regular basis.

Whoever FSG sell to, I'm just praying we don't end up being owned by a nation state or some dodgy Chinese tech or betting company. Considering the sheer variety of questionable businesses out there, you'd have to admit that for all their faults FSG are one of the best stewards of our club that we could hope for.

@Ron I read it as Dynasty Equity (not FSG) have an exit timeline and are looking to sell their stake in the next few years. They only own 2 or 3 percent so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

SzS8, sorry I didn't see the logic until Zed added it after I had posted. You were just negative about my need for negativity to another poster instead of offering your own logic and positivity.
And the OP did say 'the last time' we spent big, when talking about VvD and Alisson, but as Zed said, we spent on the midfield two seasons ago. We potentially broke our transfer record the year before that.
I'm not attempting to cut down the OP and was just looking for more clarity on the post. If the pandemic meant that we missed a cycle then I now know but it's a subject that can continue to be discussed even if some points appears to be negative, surely?

Agree Patrick. I think history will judge FSG well in their ownership and I’d think they won’t just sell to someone who doesn’t have the best interests of the club at heart if they sell.

Just to add to what I’ve posted earlier today.
FSG came investing into Liverpool knowing it was a 3 stage process across 15-20 years. First stage was 5 years worth of rebuilding, dealing with debt etc, then second stage was to build something sustainable in the long run and investing into infrastructure, now we are into the end game where its impactful signings with one eye on the finish line.
To add a bit more colour, when I asked about exits I was told John Henry would never sell Boston Red Sox because that’s his baby, he attends 80+ matches in person and the ones he can’t attend he always watches on the tele. Liverpool and I assume Pittsburgh Penguins are in exact wordings “financial investments”. For all financial investments there’s always a price to sell.
Dynasty will exit same time and same tranche as FSG when the time comes as the original source is the same.
Will be seeing the execs at the game later this weekend so send over whatever questions you’d like me to ask and I’ll try my best to see what I can find out.

Thanks for sharing, kopchu. There were rumours that Dynasty was an investment vehicle for QIA investment that would grow over time. If as you suggest Dynasty's exit is aligned to FSG's timeline then perhaps that is not the case after all.

@Pelican dynasty is an American sports fund, also invested in the golf league (TGL) in partnership with PGA. Most definitely not QIA associated don’t worry.

Alot of sense in the investment cycle. FSG seem to focus big on one of their teams at a time. Red Sox got it a few years back.
