Might be mad to say, but that feels low to me, considering his potential and time left on contract. I would have pushed for 30, at least. Although, if it is 20 mill plus a buy back included in the deal, that would make a certain sense. Either way, with Salah in his position, and the need for a genuine starter (once Salah leaves or retires) I definitely see his short to long term future elsewhere.

Nvm, I just realised his contract runs out next year. So, 20 mill actually makes a lot more sense. Shame, though. Feel like with a few more years tied down, we could have got more.

I ‘d be disappointed if this transpires…. I’d hoped he would develop and grow into the ‘Salah’ role as a ready replacement when the sad day comes for Salah to head to the Middle East. For no other reason than our best squads have had a Scot flying the flag. (Esp. with Robby’s form and influence waning) . Ah well! Best of luck to the lad.

I don’t know if there’s room in the squad for both Rio and Doak.

Ben Doak can’t look up. He’s a cracking talent, but he has a bit of the Baros about him. Wish him well, he’s a perfect Leeds (or Everton) player.

He lacks game smarts. He beats a man on the outside and smashes it across. Rinse and repeat.
At a very top side the space he operates in isn’t there. He needs to be able to pop out of the wide position and play little intricate third man run balls. He doesn’t have that to his game.
A low block side who fast break suit him down to the ground. Ergo - Everton.
