Just heard Liverpool are about to put a bid in for Marc Guéhi, they've had encouragement to do so and it looks like its going to be accepted.

Happy days.

Agree20 Disagree0

11 Aug 2025 11:34:53
Well needed competition.

11 Aug 2025 11:39:29
Thanks for the info Robbo, it's much appreciated.

11 Aug 2025 11:42:07
Can he play RB, for when we need a more defensive RB?

11 Aug 2025 11:43:57
Now that they’re going to be playing in the conference league, I would expect him and Eze will be more inclined to want to leave.

Not sure why Henderson and Parish were going this interviews after the game on Sunday. They look pretty silly now. They should have waited until the decision from CAS had been made before commenting.

11 Aug 2025 11:47:04
Konate must be off, he ain’t coming in to sit on bench.

11 Aug 2025 11:51:03
Fingers crossed.

11 Aug 2025 12:03:59
Konate is expected to sign a new deal MrBean.

11 Aug 2025 12:07:23
Konate is very overrated i wouldn't have been bothered if we sold him to madrid, i would of been happy to get leoni and guehi to replace him.

11 Aug 2025 12:11:16
Parish did admit that they've to sell anyways instead of losing him for free next summer. I 've got no excitement for the deal though but I trust our team to mke the right choice.

11 Aug 2025 12:16:51
We need the duel winning skills and leadership he has - would be a great signing.

11 Aug 2025 12:21:12
Cheers Robbo, find it strange that Guehi would come
In to sit on bench, unless konate is sitting on bench but can’t see that either.

11 Aug 2025 12:28:06
RobboLFC. Good news if it turns out to be true.

I’m hoping this doesn’t impact our move for Leoni and he still comes in as other ITK’s on here have alluded to.

11 Aug 2025 12:31:35
Very overrated? It feels like more than half the board here think he's a liability and carried by Virgil.

11 Aug 2025 12:38:54
Guehi looked very good yesterday and has looked good almost every time I’ve watched him play, if we have the opportunity to add a player of that calibre for cheaper than market value nowadays (based on his contract running out), it would be stupid not to, just because some people on here don’t rate him. I wouldn’t past him displacing Konate or even vvd depending on how vvd performs this season. I know that’s a shock for some, but him and salah’s levels dropped shortly after the whole contract situation ended (typical) so we have to wait and see. I love vvd but if there’s another player playing at a higher more consistent level to you, then you make way, it doesn’t matter who you are.

11 Aug 2025 12:49:44
Kman you might be right re drop off in VVD and Salah form, but important context is that we’d pretty much won the league when they signed their extensions, and the whole team fell off. And yesterday frankly was a glorified friendly. I’ll wait until the matches that matter, and to be honest my biggest fear with a VVD captained team is laidbackness/ complacency, not winning yesterday might’ve sharpened focus for Friday.

11 Aug 2025 12:55:31
Anyone feel Guehi would also give us a different system 3-5-2 type approach (of variations of) . not saying we'd shift for him but with frimpong and Kerkez they're both perfect for wing back roles and would also the possibility of Isak (if) and Ekitike to play up top together when Salah is at afcon or further down the line. Salah and Wirtz could also play that supporting striker role too. Again not saying I see this as the reason but think it would give us more options to mix the system up, and of course we also need to be planning for the eventual demise of Virgil, hopefully not for a long time but I do feel we'd be better if he could be rested from time to time too as last year we couldn't afford to do so as drop off was so big.

Anyway might be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 17 but I hope we bring in Guehi and Isak and I'd be happy, another young centre half for icing on the cake but those 2 would leave me confident in the squad to compete on all fronts.

11 Aug 2025 13:01:22
I've never been a huge fan of Guehi but will obviously support him should he sign. and I'd certainly say he's an upgrade on Quansah. so him and YLFP would be good for added depth at the back.

AFter yesterday (and I know it was only one game) but I thought Virg really seemed a bit late in everything he done. Not sure if he just had a bad game but I do sometimes think he's a little bit too casual.

Hopefully, he'll stick in a dominant display on Friday.

11 Aug 2025 13:02:27
I don't think Konate is over-rated and carried by VVD. By the same token I do not think he is the greatest defender since Maldini.

I think most of the board would agree with me.

VVD does make his partners look better.

Given that we have made many changes elsewhere, I would prefer to keep Konate and VVD as they have played together for a while and did well last season.

Guehi is a decent prospect, club captain at Palace so goes with Slot's drive to sign leaders.

If Guehi, leader and well regarded in the PL and HG, is happy to come in to try to dislodge wither VVD or Konate at a decent price then why wouldn't we?

11 Aug 2025 13:08:29
It’s amazing how we won so much with Robbo who is “washed”, Konate who is “very overrated” and Trent who couldn’t defend.

It’s almost like we have terrible fans who constantly slag off brilliant players because they’re hopeful they can manifest a transfer because that is the part of football they love the very most.

Imagine writing “I’d be happy if we sold him to Real” after claiming he’s overrated. If he’s so poor why are arguably the two biggest clubs in the world PSG and Real BOTH apparently after him whilst he plays from the other biggest clubs in the world? Enrique, Klopp, Alonso and Slot all getting it wrong.

11 Aug 2025 13:37:50
@Whyowhy, it really isn’t amazing. It is widely accepted that Robbo, though still a good player, is in decline. No one has ever accused Trent of being a good defender, but his talents brought more to the team than just defending, and Ibou always has a mistake in him, he/ we are very lucky that his CB partner is the best in the business.

11 Aug 2025 13:40:54
Konate is a beast of a player. He wins duels on a regular basis.

11 Aug 2025 13:41:46
Well said Why!

11 Aug 2025 13:46:42
People seem to always forget the amount of games a top team like Liverpool could play in a season. More than enough games to go around and even before injuries.

11 Aug 2025 13:46:47
Anyone think we could do with a Defensive Midfielder, instead of a LW,

Need that Mascherano type of Player, a CB and a ST, Looked like Etitike was injured coming off early.

11 Aug 2025 13:54:23
It’s taken most of the window for us to (probably) replace last season’s third choice CB. If we do sign Guehi (or Gooey as I call him) it would be foolish to let Konate leave in this window and just put us back to square one.

11 Aug 2025 13:58:38
Sorry but don’t see the fuss with Guehi. He’s just a very average English defender who is weak in the air, and his positioning and reading is poor and tends to get bullied by bigger centre forwards. There is a complete dearth of talent with English defenders unfortunately.

He isn’t a patch on Konate, who on form is a top class defender. Real Madrid and PSG are sniffing around Konate with 12 months left of his contract but aren’t remotely interested in Guehi who is at the same point. That to me says enough. Squad member and bench option, fine. As a starter no thanks. We’re already suspect at set pieces let’s not make it worse.

11 Aug 2025 14:02:12
@Mr Bean - Who says he will be sitting on the bench? Based on yesterdays performance i would have let Guehi replace either of VVD or Konate and it would have been an upgrade (at that particular moment) VVD struts about like he is untouchable sometimes and makes silly mistakes. It is my opinion but one that frustrates me. Like Salah, he is entitled to have an off day, but the problem is, not having anyone to replace him if he continues to give away penalties or make silly mistakes. I also think Konate is not shy of having the odd mistake too. Great to have more competition.

11 Aug 2025 14:04:36
@Bellwhiff - Need a more defensive RB like TAA? C'mon now, the guy at RB played well yesterday but you seem to like winding up the posters on this site.

11 Aug 2025 14:26:28
Konate has been clumsy and error prone. Now Van dijk is getting lazy without competition. I remember last season when Everton average strikers were bullying them. For their stature they never make us look a threat in set pieces attack and has become nervous in defending same.

I wish an experienced defender is signed to pair either one of them, they shouldn't be our starting center backs together.
Hopefully Edwards and his team can address the the center position like the changes they're making at the front line.
Van Heckie is available, even Vanden veen. I don't even mind selling Konate.

11 Aug 2025 14:24:32
After watching all the friendlies we need to shore the back up as we have conceaded to many poor goals from our point of view .
Guehi would be an excellent signing at hopefully a great price and i think both Ibu and vvd need a kick up their backsides and Guehi will put pressure on both if we get him.

11 Aug 2025 14:27:56
Well considering Jota should be put out to pasture. Salah has lost a step. Darwin was a waste of space. Gini was a ghost. Hendo only passed sideways. Keita couldn’t play football. Thiago was a flop.

Need I go on…. I mean the amount of Liverpool players who are apparently rubbish to terrible fans v how many trophies and points we won is really amazing.

What even more really amazing is how bad must every other team be considering we welly them all on a regular basis.

OR - see terrible fans.

11 Aug 2025 15:10:39
To be playing with wingers like we have who bomb forward we need a quality dm who drops back to make a 3 at the back, if Grav doesn’t play. We need a cb or 2 for cover, 1 ideally but with Gomez always injuries makes 2 needed but I’d also like another quality dm who can drop back also. We also need 2 attackers still. Isak hopefully and another to cover salah. Jones should not be starting games for Liverpool, sub at best.

11 Aug 2025 15:33:11
Why0why, we just give our views.
Most of us realise that we don't know more than Enrique, Alonso, Klopp, Slot etc but we give our opinions on them and their players.
It's just a bit of fun, really.
I don't rate Konate but I'm an ordinary, yet very handsome bloke that likes to chat and argue (?) about football; especially after a few pints.
Don't take it too seriously.

11 Aug 2025 15:50:12
Wow somebody above said they'd replace Virgil with guehi, amazing the sorts of opinions people come up with here.

11 Aug 2025 16:58:01
Oh no, sorry but no.

Liverpool fans should be held to a higher standard. You should realise you are lucky to be a Liverpool fan right now. To sit on the internet and slag off this team and its players pretty much daily is absolutely not what being a Liverpool fan is about. Opinions aren’t special you know, they’re just a way of proving how dumb people are in real short order.

To say a player that is at Liverpool who is wanted by PSG and Real isn’t that good is ignorant at best. It frankly embarrassing.

11 Aug 2025 18:31:07
Don't be sorry, Why; you're just giving your opinions; the same as anyone else.
But if your opinions differ from others' and you make the disagreement about them, it usually shows that you don't have anything to add to the discussion.

11 Aug 2025 18:31:04
The irony in your post may be lost on you Why0why, we all have opinions, thinking yours is the correct one isn't very open minded.

Just because a player is wanted by RM/ PSG isn't an indication of greatness, they no doubt both see value in a very good player going into the last year of his contract. They have both bought plenty of players that advent worked out. I suspect Liverpool might have taken the fee paid for Dean Huijsen, a 20 yr old with limited experience if they were certain Ibou isn't going to sign a contract, but RM offered the money to Bournemouth, possibly due to thinking they might get Ibou cheap (this summer) or free (next summer) rather than Liverpool. They need at least another CB, but you don't see them banging down LFC's door.

11 Aug 2025 18:48:16
Rigsby. That is not sound reasoning at all.

11 Aug 2025 19:08:11
WhyOwhy
You do know yours is just an opinion too? Does that make you dumb too?

11 Aug 2025 21:55:14
Nope.

Because if 99.9999% of experts claim something and I disagree with it and the rest of the planet agrees with the scientist and there is evidence to support the claim that I am wrong, like a ton of it, I’d be dumb to hold what is a palpably stupid opinion.

So, when great teams, great managers and great clubs and a great national team all think a player who was just an integral part of a team winning the worlds hardest league at a canter (and the seasons he’s injured we struggle) and his defensive stats are top five players in Europe…so like there is evidence (lots) that said player is very good. I think it’s daft for people to go “nuh huh” all that evidence, those aerials won, those duels won, those tackles won, those interceptions, those games, points, caps and trophies don't matter, he’s not that good. I’d say that’s dumb, right?

11 Aug 2025 22:01:32
What is not sound reasoning at all, Why?
Ad hominem attacks on 'terrible fans' is not sound reasoning, either, btw.
