Hearing growing rumours that Mallorca have a strong interest in Joe Gomez. Not sure of the likelihood considering the lack of depth at CB.

Won’t happen. My friend inside says Guehi, Leoni and Isak but not more. That’s not true. The deals have been initiated from spring. There’s no space to manoeuvre. Chiesa is out. And so is Tsimi.

12 Aug 2025 21:35:06
Is that a retirement home?

12 Aug 2025 21:41:22
Lack of depth. VVD, Konate, Guihe, Leoni, Endo, Robbo as well as the U21s.

12 Aug 2025 21:46:41
Gomez is the perfect utility player, we need to keep him as we have so many new defenders especially.

{Ed025's Note - if you owned a clinic i agree he would be perfect Skezza.. :)

12 Aug 2025 21:52:29
ADZ. Is talking about likely outgoing and WTCH is denying incoming CB!?

12 Aug 2025 22:34:56
Get him sold. Must be rubbish anyway, nobody would take him. Injury prone is a understatement.

12 Aug 2025 23:03:16
Get him sold but nobody would take him? Right, that sounds like a plan.

When he's fit, Gomez fits into the side almost seamlessly. When he isn't, keep him until he is. He's 28. He had a bad hamstring injury last season. Missed 15 games in the previous 3 years.

12 Aug 2025 23:04:03
Not rubbish at all, Magico, just injury prone so can't be relied on at all. Is more than handy for a few positions so it's not easy to find a like for like replacement. I like Jomez, but he shouldn't be taking a spot in the squad anymore because of his issues and lack of contribution when really needed.

12 Aug 2025 23:52:59
Didn't mean he was rubbish far from it, the rumour is rubbish mate.

13 Aug 2025 01:44:55
@25, stop winding them up - our anxiety levels are starting to rise already ?.

13 Aug 2025 07:23:55
It's a tricky one with Gomez. If he wasn't as injury prone I'm sure most would happily keep him as he's a very capable backup for all of the defensive positions. If he was reliable he could get games against lower league teams in cup games and against relegation fodder such as Everton.

{Ed025's Note - lets be honest Kopite hes just not very good, hes a mistake waiting to happen...and thats even if you can get him off the treatment table mate..

13 Aug 2025 07:40:19
You have to say, given we’d only have two CBs in the first team squad if we sell him, and with 60 games coming up, it might not be the brightest idea we’ve ever had.

13 Aug 2025 07:50:25
Should have sold Gomez 5 years ago. Barely plays a game and is cover at best for the defensive positions. He is incredibly over rated.

13 Aug 2025 08:07:24
Gomez was good, but lack of games and consistency has wrecked him. At his best he's pushing for a starting place, but he's not been there for years. Good cover but only when fit, which he never is. Feel bad to say it for our longest serving squad member, but time to move on I'd say.

13 Aug 2025 08:35:14
He played well for 10 games last season when we needed him. that's what he’s in the squad for.

13 Aug 2025 08:37:51
Agreed ed1 fully, barring the 1 season with vvd where he looked like the real deal, his career has collapsed due to constant injuries. When we bought him originally it was for left back and to be fair lb/ rb he does a job…. however he is neither.

{Ed001's Note - he was not bought for left back, he was played there because we needed someone to play there. He was bought to be a future centre-back. Spotted and signed by Kenny Dalglish in his role at the academy.}

13 Aug 2025 09:01:26
Magico, he only initially played left back to gain experience, much like with carra initially playing DM and RB in his early career.

13 Aug 2025 09:23:18
The difference there Man of Todd is that Carra was a midfield player and even a striker at one time in the Academy but not a CB. He just kind of migrated to that role over a period of time.

Joe was bought as a CB which is where he played for Charlton.

He then got an ACL injury almost immediately and barring the 2019/ 20 title season it’s been a series of injuries ever since.

13 Aug 2025 10:32:58
If he stayed fit the whole season (and I completely agree with Ed25 that is his biggest issue) I honestly think he and VVD would be a good enough pairing for us to win the league. That's the main thing imo.
Other than that he can cover the whole back line and seems chilled about playing that role.
If he leaves I'll sign the petition to get his statue made ?.

13 Aug 2025 12:08:37
Was only last summer wasn’t it that he looking to leave? Must of got injured and decided to stay.

13 Aug 2025 07:45:00
Ed025 I have always rated Gomez very highly and am sure if we made him available there would be plenty of clubs after.
I mean a lot worse players get moves that Gomez he has had his injuries but always professional and seems a really nice guy.
And some right muppets have just signed Jack Grealish with a £50m option lol ?.

{Ed025's Note - Joe does come across as a nice guy Grino i must admit, i just dont think hes a very good footballer mate, and his injury record is a joke, i think Grealish will do a decent job for us...and its not my money.. :)

13 Aug 2025 08:01:16
Ed025, a not very good defender that played most of the season when we won no.19, he is injury prone is all, a good back up for many if not all prem sides.

{Ed025's Note - yes AAgenda, a good back up, but thats how high his limitations allow him to aspire to mate..

13 Aug 2025 08:06:15
Respectfully ed025 I don't know why you would think that, because in my eyes it's simply not true. Gomez, when fit, is incredibly reliable all across the back line, and isn't often caught making mistakes. He is very fast, strong, decent in the air, tactically very intelligent, uses the ball efficiently, anticipates danger well, is very rarely caught out of position even when going forward in the full back positions.

{Ed025's Note - not a bad back up PB but thats his celing for me mate..

13 Aug 2025 09:51:43
I think Ed0025s damning of Gomez is a little unfair. Yes he’s been very injury prone and no he’s not a Liverpool first team candidate but he’s got 15 England caps and (subject to the unfortunate position of injuries) has been and would have been even more of a suitable squad player for us - which actually makes him (injury free) a suitable first teamer for some slightly lesser clubs of maintained Premiership standard. To say he is “just not very good” is an opinion I really don’t think many experts would share.

{Ed025's Note - i can only give my personal view Metro, but one good thing about him is that he does keep the medical team going mate.. :)

13 Aug 2025 12:50:43
"i think Grealish will do a decent job for us",

I would have loved him to come to Liverpool the year he went to city. He wants to get back in the England team, I think that's an excellent signing for you ed025.

13 Aug 2025 13:33:28
@mancalledhorse, Personally I just don’t think he’s very good ?

Well over-hyped that’s for sure!

{Ed001's Note - must be on a wind up to suggest Girlish would have been any use to us and is an excellent signing for anyone other than the nearest nightclub or bar.}

13 Aug 2025 13:49:50
Gomez is an excellent player with non-excellent bones/ joints.

It’s a shame that so much of his career has been spent on the sidelines but that doesn’t diminish how good he is. Same as Thiago.

If I buy a DB12 and crash it, it was always a good car.

13 Aug 2025 17:07:57
Does anyone else think that Grealish is an awful signing for Everton?

Everton are all about grit and determination in the face of adversity, everything Jack Grealish isn’t. In fact if you’d asked me to name a club that would suit him the least Everton would be top of the list.

A desperate and very odd signing for me.

13 Aug 2025 17:59:08
ED025 Girlish? Never heard of her haha.

13 Aug 2025 20:09:08
Can not sell him. Imagine that moment he scores!
