[AS] Ibrahima Konate has agreed to join Real Madrid, whether this summer or next. Madrid want Konaté, and at zero cost, next summer. However, the possibility of a last-minute move in this market of an offer - never exceeding €20-25 million is gaining momentum at the club.

If this is true…… sell him now!

14 Aug 2025 10:43:12
The contingency plan is well underway, and should he decide to see out his contract, he'll still get plenty of game time, as Trent did.

There won't be any cheap deals on offer.

14 Aug 2025 10:45:37
So we are selling Konate for €20m because he’s got a year left yet Palace want £50m for Guehi who has a year left?

Something is not adding up here.

14 Aug 2025 10:46:11
It isnt.

VVD, KONATE, LEONI + MG = FAT STACK OF CB's.

14 Aug 2025 11:04:33
Reading the whole article it’s speculative at best. Reads more as somebody’s guess work as to why we’re after two defenders, completely ignoring the fact we have 2 and a half, the half being Gomez, and Virgil is aging.

I wouldn’t start panicking yet.

14 Aug 2025 11:05:28
Ah yes, AS, along with Marca the destabilising mouthpiece for RM.

The club has said he is going nowhere this summer which is a good decision given we would hav3 VVD, Joe and an 18 year old Italian if Konate left. Even IF we sign Guehi and added him to VVD, Leoni and Gomez we still look underdone if we sell Konate.

AS spinning a story that has large positive outcomes for Real Madrid? Well I never!

14 Aug 2025 11:12:03
Heard last night that konate is not going anywhere so he either signs or goes on a free next season, so be it. Real Madrid are no longer the be all and end all.
Love konate and think he’s better than guehi but if he doesn’t want to play for Liverpool fc, good ridamce.

14 Aug 2025 11:34:27
I assume the contract extension is really close as Madrid-related hacks are pushing their desperate stories.

He seems happy. He's got his French buddy, Heki, at the club now. And we're not exactly signing someone that will push him out of the team are we?

I don't see him sold at this stage whether he extends or not.

14 Aug 2025 11:35:15
If Konate stays and helps us have another successful season- whatever that may be- then I've no qualms about leaving on a free next summer.
I said the same about van Dijk, Salah and TAA last season.
Trophies are what it's about, for me, and the club has a very good record for being financially prudent, recently.

I'd sooner have a good season out of Konate than hurriedly sell and replace him at this late stage. A fee, even if it's £40/ 50m, won't be much consolation if the move has some effect on us having a disappointing season.

14 Aug 2025 13:21:28
I can't see him leaving this summer. However, if he doesn't sign and we do manage to get Guehi in, I'd be looking to give Konate less and less game time to the point that he only plays out of necessity which will put his WC place under jeopardy.

14 Aug 2025 13:29:49
Hate to say it but this is exactly how I saw this playing out. I'm pleased though that the club are comfortable with it!

I guess I just don't understand how anybody could ever want to leave us? But I'm blindly loyal to LFC
Knowing it's about money bothers me as I hate greed in general. I also love Konate he's a monster to play against. I was hoping we could have another 3 years from him. After that? I think his playing style will lead to lots of injury's and niggles.

So let's see how it turns out. Trust the club imo.

I agree with Rigsby here and upon Ed1 saying it yesterday i would probably now rather keep him and hope we win some more silverware.

If we sign Guehi aswell now as the YLFP if Konate was to leave for that fee, im not sure i would be overly convinced by our CB options being Guehi, Virg and YLFP as Gomez basically doesn’t even count anymore.

14 Aug 2025 15:28:52
Agree with Rigsby, rather Konate stay and see the season out than get a transfer fee and panic sign someone, we can replace him next summer if he goes.

14 Aug 2025 17:26:40
The only thing about next summer if he walks for free is that possibly virg and salah leave also and maybe even alli, would need another whopping summer window again.

14 Aug 2025 18:39:56
Tbh Magico, Van Dijk would have another year, Ali would be replaced by Marmadashvili and i presume that getting in Isak and Ekitike is part of long term succession planning for Salah leaving. So it feels like there is a plan and future proofing going on.
