Hi Ed, are you of the belief that Newcastle are intentionally delaying Isak’s departure until after our fixture against them?
You confirmed that he is now forcing the transfer, so does that mean Newcastle just want to save face by not having Isak line up against them so soon after the whole saga?

If we signed him tomorrow he wouldn't be ready to face them anyway as he needs to get his fitness up and have a few training sessions.

You would imagine that they would want the £1?,000,000.00 (when you write it like this then it makes the amount look more crazy, which it is! ) asap, so they can spend some before the window shuts.
Although, I guess with mega rich owners, they can spend the cash first, then sell on deadline day to balance the books.

Feels to me that the deal is done and has been agreed between clubs in principle for a while. LFC only have one centre forward and do not seem to be actively looking into other options. NUFC probably briefing journos, keen to not be seen holding a huge bag of cash (£135m) while negotiating for replacements and getting rinsed as a result. Crazy days.

Ed 25, sounds like the supporter of a small club alright. Thinking the best players wouldn't want to move to the best teams with the best chance of winning trophies. Liverpool are at the very top atm, how ling that lasts who knows, but take hate tinted glasses off. Its not ridiculous for one of the top strikers in the Premier league to want to go to one of the best teams. For football reasons.

Ed025 it’s been well reported that Isak was told he was getting a new contract after the 23/ 24 season then the new dof came in and told he he was not getting renewed. Howe has said it caused a lot of problems at the beginning of last season. But he buckled down played well helped them get champions league and win a cup. He did inform them it was his last season and told them again after the cup win and at the end of the season.
Howe wining the power battle and getting his brother sorting deals out for the club has made them a mess.
I don’t agree with players acting like this but you don’t keep a player that wants out he just does not work I could not wait to see the back of coutinho all this could have been avoided if Newcastle was in a better shape above the manager.
£120k a week is a ridiculous amount of money to be on a work but if you value a player at £150m he needs to be paid to going rate or he will get unsettled.

We must be used to the fact by now that top footballers get paid mad, mad money. Given the planet's interest in what they do, it's a bit less crazy when you compare it to what top film stars or musicians ear, But yeah, it's hard to compute for anyone who was alive when Bobby Moore was England captain and on £80 per week. Still, there it is.
Isak is generally regarded as one of the top 5 strikers in the world. Leaving aside people like Benzema who play in Saudi Arabia for truly insane wages - £1.5 million per week or there abouts - you've got Haaland and Mbappe on more than £500K per week, and Kane and our Mo for about £400K pw. In that context, £120K for Isak does look like a recipe for him developing serious fomo.

I don't like how ugly the Isak saga is turning out to be. I believe that things could have been dealt with better if the club and player had better communication and agreement. We won't know the true story, although it was reported that Isak had already informed that he wanted to leave and the club acknowledged that.
Isak is not leaving for free, like Trent. In fact, he's leaving Newcastle with a lot of $$$ that they can reinvest in other players and attackers. I know clubs do not want to lose their top talents but it happens to almost every club bar a few like Real Madrid.
It's all part of modern day football. When you on top, you get the upper hand. Liverpool are not low balling Newcastle, they are willing to pay >100mil for him. So, I think from Liverpool's point of view, we're being fair to Newcastle.

Ed025 is on the wind up n reeling people in . but he's also right on a couple of things, players seem to be in control of things esp good players, id prefer the old system of the clubs back in control of transfers.
