ESPN reporting that Rodrygo prefers LFC move over any other team. They're also saying that RM would accept around £70m for him should he leave.
15 Aug 2025 22:08:15
I'd accept Jennifer Aniston as my wife, doesn't make it so.
15 Aug 2025 22:14:55
stuie, if you paid £70m, you may be surprised.
15 Aug 2025 22:19:27
Today was a prime example why we need SOLFP and. YLFP. Konate aka bambi is a liability unless VVD protects him. Hope we get both over the line now YLFP completed.
15 Aug 2025 22:21:21
Zed are you Jennifer Aniston’s agent?
15 Aug 2025 22:24:42
She only cost me £50m - I got Hughes to ask her for me!
15 Aug 2025 22:45:22
Zed, knowing my luck, I'd pay £70m and get Jenifer Maniston!
15 Aug 2025 22:53:29
MoT, "agent" isn't the word I'd use.
15 Aug 2025 23:15:39
I thought vvd was all over the place again! Players are looking up to him but he is positioning is terrible.
15 Aug 2025 23:20:15
Tikka mo Salah 137, if you think Guehi is going to do any better than what you saw today, boy are you in for a rude awakening.
16 Aug 2025 00:12:14
They both just need games. Form will come. Never been Konate’s biggest fan but he’s much better than tonight.
16 Aug 2025 02:43:05
VVD is the problem, his reactions are slow, he looks way off the pace.
16 Aug 2025 02:47:44
Tikka Mo Salah, might want to go and watch VVD again. He was just as awful as Konate today.
16 Aug 2025 03:00:14
What did konate do wrong last night? Virgil had a worse game.
16 Aug 2025 04:26:03
90 minutes iinto the season and our two starting CBs written off. The same twonCBs who were presented with their EPL winners medals after our previous league game and, in VVD’s case, someone who had to be re-signed at all costs or the club would fall to pieces. Get a grip, although I think we’ll need the tablets this season as it’s not going to be a bunch of nil - nil or one all borefests.
16 Aug 2025 07:38:35
I think this game will give Guehi encouragement that he will definitely get minutes at Liverpool if he joins.
We absolutely need him that's for sure.
16 Aug 2025 08:05:04
Wow, I thought vvd was ok last night, made some vital blocks and looked sharp to me, dominant in air as usual. Ibou was all over the place and mis kicked some many clearances, he looked like his head wasn’t in the game at all.
Looking forward to Ylfp physically he looks perfect for cb leets hope he develops into our next vvd.
16 Aug 2025 08:50:33
People already moaning about players, epeciallt vvd. No offence but his job was made a lot harder with kirkez always out of position, konate looking like a deer in headlights…. then to make it worse, endo comes on a right back and he has no pace and that’s what resulted in the first goal. The only person to blame was slot because it was clear from his substitutions that he doesn’t know his best team or formation yet.
16 Aug 2025 08:56:43
The massive hole in midfield is the problem, not the defence. You can’t replace Grav with Wirtz in a midfield that was already too light on physicality and duals last season. Newcastle game will be interesting re midfield.
16 Aug 2025 08:57:41
I see you more as Friends, Stuie.
What did Konate do wrong last night, PB? Seriously?
16 Aug 2025 08:59:16
Every centre back will tell you that they want lots of bodies all around them to protect them.
Konate, and to a lesser extent VVD (Because Kerkez looks like he's being asked to be more defensive than Frimpong) had no other player anywhere near him for most if the match.
A full back who wants to bomb forward (and even when Endo and Gomez came on, they continued to drive forward into congested spaces) and 2 6s who wanted to rotate to get in the ball, rather than holding their shape.
This isn't a dig at any individual as the site has been tweaked and it will take time for people to understand new roles, but the CB were horribly exposed last night, and it's difficult when you don't know if you should push, drop tackle or delay.
Gravenberch should help, but a greater emphasis needs to be placed on our shape in defensive transitions.
Just an old CB opinion of course.
16 Aug 2025 09:38:56
Agree - our CBs aren’t the main problem. At one point Salah lost possession on the edge of their box and the only defenders left defending the break were VVD and Konaté in a 4 on 2!
There are a few concerns I have with our preseason so far
1) our attack last year was Diaz/ Gakpo on the left, Jota/ Nunez and Salah/ Chiesa, so 6 senior forwards…. now it seems to be Gakpo/ Rio, Ekitike and?, and Salah/ Chiesa. Chiesa has gone from being our weakest sub to our strongest? Although Ekitike looks a real talent we’ve clearly thinned out our bench too much. I know Isak is the target but why did we take so much risk selling 2 forwards without a finalised deal?
2) Robbo and Trent were hardly defensive, but Frimpong and Kerkez have clearly been given licence to push forward aggressively. Fine but then you need a solid midfield tasked to cover them. Maybe Granvenberch is the answer but it’s a big ask for him to be the only one helping out our CBs. I’d like to see more balance.
3) What is slot going with the two 10’s experiment? Failed miserably against Crystal Palace…hope he puts this to bed when we get another striker (or maybe he’s just trying to make a point to the powers that be? )
I trust Slot to figure this all out, but I’m worried it’ll take a bit of time for the side to settle in and get to know each other while Arsenal has barely changed but now has a goalscorer. They will be taking notes on out weaknesses and could be more dangerous than we think this season.
16 Aug 2025 09:46:55
Love big ibou but if his head has been turned then the sooner the SOLFP arrives the better and I’ve never heard racism from our supporters before and it was sickening especially from a disabled fan.
16 Aug 2025 10:17:17
Lads, the best DM in Europe wasn’t playing and we had two new full backs.
But nah, sound the [[terrible fans KLAXON]]
Also, we won.
16 Aug 2025 10:23:13
“What difference does it make he was in a wheelchair? ” I hear people say.
Well - it’s about the only descriptor available in the absence of a top hat and a neon headband.
16 Aug 2025 10:29:25
Got to say I am a bit surprised about us going with 2 such attack minded full backs unless Frimpong is seen as a long term Salah replacement. We didn’t seem to play such an attacking style from those positions last season and it is leaving us a bit open. New players and early season and all that, hope it gets worked out in the training ground.
16 Aug 2025 10:44:49
Frimpong is not a “long term Salah replacement” as if that’s the only other option.
Could it be that Bradley is the first choice and with Frimpong we get someone who can change the dynamic of a game quickly and allow for formation changes as and when.
Each position needs two players who can perform at a high level when needed. We have that and people seem perplexed by it.
16 Aug 2025 11:13:55
Those asking what Konate did wrong last night, were you not watching? He was dreadful. His head is all over the place.
16 Aug 2025 11:59:43
Rodrygo ain't coming, we are not interested in him.
I don't understand peoples fascination with him as he's not that good.
16 Aug 2025 12:04:47
Yeah, I rewatched it this morning and I heard Carra slagging him off as soon as the match started. I suggest you watch again, there was a bit about 20 minutes in where Carra screamed “what’s Konate doing” and what Konate was doing was passing a ball to Frimpong perfectly well.
When four players break on two it’s hard for the two. As soon as that happened it was likely a goal, we’d have scored with those odds. There is no easy way for two to cover four breaking at pace. Virg and Ibou didn’t stop the goal but as it was happening Carragher was already shouting “what’s Konate doing, he’s all over the place”.
To be clear Ibou didn’t have a great game but trust me, not many centre backs can have a great game when 8 of their colleagues are advanced of the ball as it’s turned over. If the criticism was equally directed at Mac10, Szbobby and the fullbacks I’d say “fair dos” but the entire defensive unit (and the whole teams is the defence in a transition when you don’t have the ball) failed last night in parts - but for some reason ALL of it was directed at one player.
We have a real desire to have a scapegoat for some reason.
He wasn’t great, but he was left with a lot to do by a very gung ho front 8.
16 Aug 2025 14:56:46
He will continue to be the scapegoat until he signs the contract or leaves.
16 Aug 2025 15:28:38
Maybe WarMachine, maybe not.
I’ve never heard Carra be complimentary about him. I suspect that’s just Carra being a bit envious that a guy who plays his position has won loads more than he ever did.
I think people are informed by people like Carra and in some way allow him to do their thinking for them. So Konate becomes a bad player. Then when they watch they’re looking for a mistake, ignoring positives, ignoring mistakes by others (Kerkez was awful and not one peep about that) and finding confirmation bias when the opportunity presents. Four on two, van Dijk all over the place, it’s all Ibou’s fault. Endo, a DM at that point, is on the penalty spot in the Bournemouth box…but it’s all on Ibou.
Mac10, Szbobby, Endo, Frimpong and Kerkez all had really poor moments in possession and in how they overcommitted to attacks. Not a peep about it.
16 Aug 2025 18:10:59
Why0Why. So much nonsense. Carra has won more than Konate - just not the League, but played in good sides with higher points totals. You talk of Konate as if he's a FIFA player, with great ratings - rather than the real life Konate.
Konate has always been pretty ropey. He did well last season. Credit to him, and to Slot and the coaching staff. They helped improve his awful decision-making, minimising his tendency to blatantly wrestle and grab shirts, make stupid unnecessary fouls in stupid areas, etc.
Carra was fair and pointed out Kerkez's weaknesses repeatedly. It was Konate's job to engage Semenyo. Szoboslai also was given his share of the blame by Carra. As was the setup for leaving the defenders exposed. Do you have selective hearing?
Konate is not a great defender. Never was. He looked a nervous wreck all game - not just for the goal/ s. If he is asking for the wages of a top class centre back, he needs a reality check. He is 26 and has managed one good season for Liverpool - and is still unconvincing.
I'll be glad to see competition in the form of YLFP and Guehi. Konate will be fighting for the right to play, rather than dreaming of Madrid. That's his level. He is not indispensable. He needs to prove himself. Madrid are crazy, but if they saw Konate last night, even they may look elsewhere.
16 Aug 2025 19:38:23
Lassic, good luck with your new career as a football manager with a better knowledge of the game than Klopp and Slot and the France manager.
Everything you just said was daft. Massively daft.
