Hello all,
A few messages directed to myself and others regarding Guehi being a Konate replacement.
From what I hear the club see Guehi as a highly versatile option who can play centre back, cover right back and can also in certain moments play as a deep 6.
We will go for another if Ibou goes next summer.
The club complied with every demand he asked for to extend but it seems his heart is set away from us currently.
As we know that can all change.

I think sell him. It's been obvious he's off. Get a fee use that to pay for MG. Don't let him go for SWEET FA.
MG won't weaken us. He's a very steady cb.

Out of curiosity what figure would you deem acceptable at this stage knowing full well both he can and other clubs know he is available for zero next summer so are highly unlikely to bid anywhere near his actual value, similar to what appear to be doing with palace for MG.

Thanks for that, any Isak updates, every day I am getting less optimistic.
Newcastle are not willing to pay what Brentford want currently.
They are running out of time and options in the window to get a striker.
What will we do if we don't get Isak? will we just get a winger or will we switch target, we can't go into the season with 1 striker can we? unless he wishes to use Chiesa down the middle or Wirtz, but I still think we need a number 9, but we can't wait around forever for Isak.

Thanks for the info Carra. If he won’t sign then Slot may start Guehi ahead of him (providing the transfer happens) I actually thought Gomez looked very fast and sharp when he came on the other day - you never know he might stay fit all season!

It's alright if Konaté wants to leave. But if he doesn't sign an extension before the window closes, I think we should sell him. Take the 25 million now rather than wait for some token amount in January, or next summer.

I don't have any inside info but impression I get from konate is he won't extend nor has no interest in extending. Same as trent will trail it out and leave on a free.

Tricky one, I Don’t want a player that doesn’t want to play for us, so we could try to get rid now and replace with another, but then that’s changing 3 out of back 4. If we are looking at Collins from Brentford, wouldn’t mind him but can’t see Brentford wanting to lose another player and their new captain in this window.

Konate has been tapped up by Madrid a while back and his head is there. Don’t sign a new contract and we’ll sign you for free. Sign a new a contract we won’t buy you. Just like Trent Pool could lose a huge transfer fee again. Madrid have saved about £150m in transfer fees with him and Trent if goes next summer with their tapping up. Nice when you can get away with it.

I’d get MG in. Play Konate for first half of the season obviously because he’s better. Then slowly swap the 2 around. We’ve made a lot of changes it’ll be too much changing 3/ 4 defenders all at once.

Don't forget that it's not necessarily only clubs who tap up or turn heads. Also player's agents.
The sooner we stop moralising in terms of right and wrong, legal and illegal, the better.

He's worth more to us in terms of stability and continuation for now . H was inexpensive to buy and is on reasonable wages.
We'll need a year to find the best there is to replace him.

Regardless of whether we want Konate to stay or go,
he’s just not good enough at the moment, he’s letting the team down and needs to buck his ideas up .
I hope we get Guehi soon and bench Konate . Then just use him as we need…until he struts off to Madrid .

Some people saying to sell Konate, it’s not that easy. Like Trent, he knows that holding tight will mean his next club doesn’t pay a transfer fee and he then gets a massive signing on fee.

Konate is pushing for guaranteed game time, that’s the main sticking point. Unfortunately, except for Mo, that’s something we don’t give anyone.
Money, bonuses, image rights, etc are all agreed. It’s down to Ibou now.
Club still willing to leave it in his hands, as either way he’ll not be moved on this window, it’s either he’ll sign a new contract or use him over the year to bed in the new guy (s) .

If only there was a flight tracking type app for tracking the movements of local Spanish language teachers, it would help identify which of our players Real M have got in the ear of. Would love Konate to stay with SOLFP coming in and Leoni developing to replace VVD at some point, along with Gomez staying fit for cover. But I am leaning towards a season of will he won’t he sign with Konate prior to him signing for Real and speaking perfect Spanish.
