News out of Spain from Julian Alvarez reps saying the player has admitted he made a mistake joining Madrid. Could a late bid be made perhaps.

21 Aug 2025 04:16:19
Would love Alvarez. was my first choice of all the striker targets this summer but seemed unattainable.

21 Aug 2025 05:39:48
Would be great, but I think we are all in on Isak.

21 Aug 2025 06:33:28
Would be better than Isak for me. Can play across the front 3 positions and he’s a top class presser too.

21 Aug 2025 07:17:33
Statement released to put pressure on Newcastle ✅

Got it ?.

21 Aug 2025 07:52:38
Not sure the comments of his 'entourage' will endear him to our decision-makers to be honest. Great player though he is.

21 Aug 2025 07:57:07
Now that would be superb. Let sulky Isak stay with the Geordies and we get a player he is a force of nature.

21 Aug 2025 08:04:22
I thought he was loving life there and was their star man? What has the misses complained about this time? Last time it was manchester weather and fish and chips.

21 Aug 2025 08:17:34
Who can afford him aside from the Saudi's? Barcelona could do with him but can they afford him?

Us, Bayern, PSG? that's about it.

21 Aug 2025 08:20:51
Please don’t dangle this out there…. it’s the hope that hurts!

21 Aug 2025 09:02:31
right, so now you're all in on Alvarez despite Isak declaring his undying love for us? And now Isak is nothing but a sulk?

Christ, you lot.

{Ed025's Note - imo CM his love for money outweighs his love for Liverpool, why not go through the proper channels and put in a transfer request?, waive your golden handshake and move to your dream club, now i know you are only on £120k a week plus bonuses but it might be worth it for the fulfillment, i think hes hes an excellent player mate...maybe not so nice a person or one who listens to his greedy agent too much, just my take of course..

21 Aug 2025 09:33:31
Ed025, would him putting in a transfer request actually change anything?

It was said on here that he was promised a pay increase to put him on a level more in line with his standing as a top class striker, and that increase never came.

Maybe he feels that he’s already earned that money? Maybe it’s about principle? I can’t imagine money being any sort of issue when you earn so much, but I’m not in that position so it’s hard to judge.

Why does Haaland need £500k a week to play for City?

{Ed025's Note - its greed FF nothing more nothing less, we dont know what he was promised or not promised mate but there is a proper road you can go down, put in a transfer request and waive your £5-6m loyalty bonus, i personally dont do sympathy for people on that sort of money..

21 Aug 2025 09:46:06
Personally I have never wanted Isak.
Injury, 26, too much money and he’s not a player at the very highest level, I maybe wrong on this.

But I hate the way he’s acted and he will likely do it again in two years. I get the feeling this is a pet project of Edward’s. He wanted Isak when we signed Nunez, was he overruled? Was this why he left, is he trying to prove he was always in the right?

Either way I’d rather have Alvarez, but there seems to be a concerted effort to buy European based players who won’t do stupid international trips or disappear for international tournaments mid season, so maybe Alvarez is a non starter.

21 Aug 2025 09:49:06
Alvarez's 'team' moaning about AM has very little, if anything, to do with Liverpool.

21 Aug 2025 09:58:57
It’s been said before but this isn’t coming down to money. it’s coming down to the lack of incomings in that position if Newcastle sell, it’s a risk when everyone you’ve been linked with has decided to go elsewhere. Personally I think it gets done and Newcastle end up with Wissa and Watkins.

21 Aug 2025 10:07:50
Isak and Alvarez now you would be talking.

21 Aug 2025 10:20:52
Isak has done his part at great cost to his reputation and relationship with Newcastle. We have to deliver our side of the bargain now. Switching targets to Alvarez would be brutal.

21 Aug 2025 10:46:49
Alvarez 'entourage' moaning seems germane to me Rigbsy:
'still feels unappreciated'; 'often substituted despite playing well'; would be 'moved to left wing to track back. '

Not the noises of a team player. Meanwhile, Isak desperate to come and play with or alongside Ekitike.

Comments could all be BS of course. But know who I'd prefer.

21 Aug 2025 10:54:39
Wasn’t Alvarez’s wife put off England by the delights of living in the fair city of Manchester?

21 Aug 2025 11:14:36
Isak over Alvarez all day long.

21 Aug 2025 10:03:23
I agree with you ED25 regarding the transfer request. Put it in and move on. The money is just rolling in for the man regardless.

{Ed025's Note - that would solve all the problems imo SG, its dragging on too long now and seems to be a bit toxic now mate..

21 Aug 2025 10:44:05
Before Henry reports his bank account as being hacked I say we got for Alverez and isak, not my money
And Ed025 you're a ma salty guy defnitly a bitter Nevertonian.

{Ed025's Note - im not bitter at all mate, opinionated yes but i tend to get stick off your lot for telling the truth..

21 Aug 2025 11:08:33
Ed025.isak might want more money but he also wants to play for the Champions.

{Ed025's Note - then do the right thing and put in a transfer request Strom..

21 Aug 2025 11:42:11
25 mate, putting in a transfer request doesn’t guarantee you anything, the selling club can refuse this and the way, as carra has mentioned, Newcastle are acting, they would probably turn it down.
I wouldn’t bother handing one in either to be fair.

{Ed025's Note - there is a right way and a wrong way to go about things imo Drogie, going on strike is not the right way for me mate and it makes him seem a bit of an arse hole, if you want to leave go down the proper route ..

21 Aug 2025 11:48:04
Who’d want to live in Manchester?

21 Aug 2025 11:48:15
If it were up to me I've always said on here that I'd take Alvarez over isak, but we are this far down the line for isak now that I think we have absolutely made up our mind to have him as our number 9 for the next few seasons. Can't complain about that really.

21 Aug 2025 12:02:34
Ed025 - You obviously know agents and how they 'can' operate. Isak is being badly advised, and whilst he has his own mind and can say F off to these vampires, its not all on him.

Those agents do not have anyone else big on the rosta, and this is a big win for them, if it goes through.

Lets not put it all on players when that type of agent (that you know well) exists.

{Ed025's Note - dont even get me started on agents Johnny, they are all low life scumbag leeches who are bleeding the game dry mate, they dont care about their players welfare they are only interested in their fees and commission and are a blight on the once beautiful game imo..

21 Aug 2025 13:49:37
Ed025.you must be living in Dream land if you think this generation of players would lose out on money, loyalty has well n truly gone . look at 'our' trent . no Fs given by him . but im old skool like you . but Isak is still making his choice to choose us over everyone else.

{Ed025's Note - i get that he wants you Strom i really do, i just think it could have been done a lot better and in better taste mate, i dont think Alex comes out in this very well even though i think his agent has a lot to answer for imo..

21 Aug 2025 14:09:08
I suspect Alvarez lived in somewhere nice in Cheshire like Prestbury or Wilmslow.
Cheshire is the richest county in England isn't it? It's also pretty nice. Manchester is a great city, despite being full of Mancs (joking) .

21 Aug 2025 15:38:42
Gutted if Alvarez goes to Newcastle.

21 Aug 2025 16:19:37
how does a transfer request help him to force a move? They can still refuse to let him go. Why would he act against his self interest? The guy is at the height of his career and he is one the best strikers out there at the moment. He earned what ever he is asking for and it's not like the 5% fee is holding Newcastle from selling him for what would be a British transfer record fee. I get the fact that the way this played out doesn't do good for their image but their failure with transfers created the mess. There are some details I don't know. Whose decision was it to leave him out of their summer tour? I think they knew they were selling him, they tried to play everything too smart and it back fired on them.

21 Aug 2025 15:58:36
First things first - Ed25 is not bitter surprisingly given his chosen team of allegiance he is one of the good guys so ease up on those statements.

I don't understand why LFC have not just said to Isak's agent tell him to put in the request and we will cover the loyalty fee he loses.

I still believe however it is all smoke and mirrors from the barcodes, they just don't want the lad to play or have the media fanfare before we play them.

No doubt we will get a silly reception from the fans looking to blame whomever they can when in reality what has our clubs done wrong?

It is a huge shame the way the game has gone and let's be honest contracts are not worth the paper they are written on other than to protect so element of value of the asset.

Isak will wear red, will be the number 9 and will no doubt score against the barcodes at Anfield, just let's get Mondays game out the way and then the ball will roll for sure.

Ed25 we love you - even though you should have picked Tranmere over the blue crap - mind you - you are a lot closer to them now!

{Ed025's Note - i wish i could argue with you SSH.. :)

21 Aug 2025 19:52:20
Problem is Ed025 the game has become rancid and toxic. Perhaps it's always been this way but IMO it has gotten worse.

Ed025 is only giving his opinion and I for one am grateful he does so especially after the loss of Ed02

I'm have matchsticks to prop my eyes open this weekend Ed! No falling asleep lol I even fell asleep for your game and woke to the penalty lunacy ? Everytime I fall asleep during footy it all goes crazy.

{Ed025's Note - i dont blame anyone who fell asleep watching the Everton game on Monday SM, it was dire mate..

21 Aug 2025 20:07:48
Ed025 I agree these agents are roaches, id like the club to hold the power like the good old days. too many mercenaries nowadays.

{Ed025's Note - yeah Strom i liked it when the club discussed the lads future with their parent or guardian and treated them like people not assets mate..

21 Aug 2025 22:20:34
Mind you it wasnt all sunshine and pixie dust when the clubs held the power. players used to get run into the ground and then spat out onto the rubbish heap by some clubs. Can see why players started to not trust them and look after themselves instead.
