Not totally LFC related, but may be in future.
Heard whispers today out of Madrid that preliminary contact has been made with Zidane as a replacement for Xabi Alonso. Staff and players have lost faith in the coach. High chance he’s on the out.
However, after some nosing I also came to learn that if Xabi is to get the boot it’s also highly unlikely he will enter another job before the season ends. Take that as you will.

Is it really down to a strict regime / not being allowed to do what they want
My next question (s) . klopp was on a sabbatical and got sweet talked into coming by FSG . do you think he will come?
Or do you think they will be willing to wait it out and let slot see out the season (assuming the common census that he will be gone at end of season if not before. ) . and of course if alonso wants it.
still not sure if heart is ruling my head in wanting him.

MightyReds, as of this current moment I see it absolutely terribly unlikely Klopp returns at all. If there were ever a chance, it’s likely too soon anyways. Of course, never say never, but I just don’t see it happening. Like the Eds also said a few weeks back, his wife would not be happy.
Me personally though, I’d throw the kitchen sink at him if it meant Gerrard wasn’t the interim.

If that’s correct Jude then it feels like Xabi is seriously not interested in managing us. Odd given how popular a player he was here.

Ties in with what we have been hearing about the board sticking with Slot.
I was thinking the same MightyRed. Give Slot a bit of time, whilst Alonso takes a break. Then come calling in a couple of months. Similar to when Klopp took over from Brodgers, he was meant to be on a break.

If Alonso is sacked threw a shed of money at him to join us. It's either that or stick with Slot, God Forbid or get an interim like Gerrard,
Most of those on the fence for sacking Slot say its because there's no sufficient replacement, Alonso is up thrre maybe just behind Enrique as one of the best currently out there.

Johnnyr I meant that’s what I was worried he was alluding to but I checked pep’s contract and he’s got another season after this one. It’s more likely that alonso just would want some downtime to reflect and regroup before joining another club. Maybe he’d want preseason too. I’m not itk. just thinking out loud.

I see where you're coming from Jude. However, the timing, if indeed he is sacked in the next few days, might be too tempting given he would be able to make a splash in Jan if required (and most people think it is) .
With Klopp I think Bodgers knew that he was a dead man walking from the time of the Stoke game at the end of the previous season and we were just waiting for the right replacement.

If RM put Xavi on gardening leave while a settlement figure is thrashed out by Lawyers, that could be part of the reasoning, or settlement package could include no job until the summer.
Could Xavi leave RM as pointed out above, instead of initially becoming Boss if he is not able to take the post until summer as my point above suggests, could he be “Consulted weekly” (it’s all about word play) .

For a minute there I thought RM had sacked Xabi, appointed Xavi but were thinking about sacking him.
