Has anyone seen Guillem Balague's piece on the BBC website. Really doesn't look good for Xabi Alonso. Apparently Carlo Ancelotti warned him of what he would come up against. Could this be our opportunity?

I did and timing could be perfect but I think I read that if he were to get sacked he'd want a break.
I did have a little chuckle at some of his quotes about struggling with a low block. I've heard that phrase so much over the last 3 months, I think whoever he hire next (assuming Slot does leave) needs to be banned from saying it!

Opportunity for what? Massive punt to take him. If he had not played for LFC, would we really want him?
Stick with Slot, a rare title-winning manager. He has cash in the bank. If he doesn’t turn the team around, then so be it. But last season was no fluke - this season is ghastly, and he has to own that, but the transition was always going to bite.

Things look to be coming together, although according to the eds, he'd want the rest of the season off, so we'd be stuck with Slop-py football for another 6 months.

I belueve he is the man for the job, long term. He has a connection and an understanding of Liverpool FC, he has the intelligence, the man management skills, the footballing brain and he speaks sense.

He isn't a novice, he won the title in Germany and nearly went unbeaten for the season. Granted the German league isn't the best but Slot came from the Netherlands which is also not the strongest. Not many managers survive what is going on and if Slot does and gets us winning again fair play.
But we would be naive not explore our options when a manager we clearly wanted becomes available, similar to when Klopp became available.

Slot is one up on Alonso as he’s won the league in Holland and in England.
Xabi, so far, is a one season wonder. Not quite on the same level as Ranieri.
He might be the man for the job, he might be superb, but he’s a risk.

He's who I want if Slot leaves, and I don't hold what's happening at Madrid as too much of a negative. From what I've seen the players aren't happy about having to work hard.

Ron, you might believe Alonso is a risk, but I think keeping Slot gives us a risk of relegation. I honest don’t think you actually watch the games cause even a blind man can see we are getting worse under Slot. There is no improvement and he has to go.

If he comes it makes sense in some respects to wait until Summer.
1) the players had a crap pre-season marred by tragedy, you never get that training time back until the summer.
2) Slot needs to own this season and also the continuing in-fighting needs to be sorted. Some players need to go.
