Happy to see Carra corroborate the info I also heard. Just would like to reiterate that in the time between my last post and now, talks have developed a great deal. Crossing T's and dotting I's, Alonso will be in the dugout for pre season, as was always his wish since our first approach.

It has to be Alonso. He's won stuff. As much as Areola and Hoeness are top drawer, they haven't won anything. LFC will only appoint a coach with pedigree. No guarantees with any coach appointment, but they're doing the right thing by hiring a winner. Thanks, VG.

It's crazy, the whole saving face - imagine the last game of the season is like how it was on Saturday - surely players like Robbo and Salah mean more to this club than Slot does. When the owners come out saying they don't accept mediocrity, that should be the standard set. Thank you for what you have done, Arne, but now isn't good enough. The standard at LFC means more than protecting the reputation of the manager - you're only as good as your last game, and unfortunately it's poor. The mood around Anfield, if Xabi was there for the last game, would be unbelievable.
No matter what LFC do, everyone is always going to turn it like the 500m spent in the summer etc. Who are you trying to save face with? Get him gone with a thank you for what you did last season. Little word of advice, don't spend a year saying you haven't done much as things were already in place from Klopp, change things massively in the summer and say, oh, things will be different next year, not this season, next. Jog on, bring Xabi home!

If it does indeed turn out to be XA ... it does really tug on those red heart strings ...
So, I'm sure all managers know Liverpool are a huge club ... and think they can just do what they are doing .. but on a bigger scale ..
Having witnessed and been a part of it for Istanbul and the parade... XA will not only know .. but he will KNOW ... playing alongside and with Stevie and Carra ... hopefully he really does know what it is like ...
I just hope we can send Slot off in appreciation of the 20 ..I may not want him to be pur manager ..
but he did deliver that title ... so he deserves a thanj you and good send off ... hope we are classy about it....
Now, if my memory serves me right, when this all kicked off originally back in Nov or Dec ... didn't someone say we would also be in for a nice surprise to go with XA.. maybe a certain number 2? (Not talking SG8)

Like what you said, MightyReds, would be great to see him off with gratitude. That's who we are.
But...
I also don't see him standing in the centre of Anfield, signing his successor's name and asking the fans to get behind them.
And that's the true difference between the last two managers who delivered 19 and 20.
One understood the club, embraced it and became at one with us.
The other, just didn't.
